IN THE HOSPITAL

RILEY'S POV "Riley, Riley", as they called, I moaned. I couldn't speak, my eyes were too weak to see, and my strength was failing. I was already on the other side, I saw a man in white, face white and beautiful, smiling at me and telling me to come. "I couldn't resist", as I was about going, suddenly, I heard a soft voice calling me, "Riley". She kept on calling my name until I opened my eyes. "I opened my eyes and blinked", my vision was not clear but I heard someone call me again, I moaned, I couldn't speak. This time she said, "Riley, it's me Avery".

AVERY'S POV

I went to visit Riley in the hospital. She was in the ICU. There she was lying, "half living, half lifeless". Seeing the bandages on her head and legs made me to shed tears. I sat beside her, crying and praying to God, to revive her. I wiped my face and "with faith", I called her, "Riley, Riley, Riley". "Please wake up", we need you, please come back to us. I called her name again for the last time, "Riley", I bowed my head crying, when I heard her moan. She moaned again, so I called again, "Riley", "Riley, it's me Avery".she started responding, so I quickly rushed out and called one of the nurses. We rushed in, and the nurse was examing her. The doctor and another nurse came in few minutes after drawing their attention". The doctor was checking her, and he then turned and asked me to leave the room.

RILEY'S POV

After they ran some series of test, all I could remember was seeing myself taken to another room but I can't remember anything that happened after that. I found myself lying on the bed, with drips connected to my body, and the machine was regulating. Later on, I woke up seeing strange faces. I couldn't recognize any of them including Avery. They were all staring at me, the room was quiet. Nobody spoke, until a lady decided to break the silence. "Are you okay, sweetie", the lady asked. I puffed and I sighed. Avery held my hand and asked me if I was okay. "Ril, are you okay?, how are you feeling?, does your head hurt?". I didn't answer instead I was just looking at them. "Maybe we should give her some time", the lady on white shirt bursted out. "We need to know how she's feeling", the first lady added. "Will mommy be okay", the sweet girl asked. "Yes honey, she will be fine", Avery answered her. "Mommy, who is she calling mommy", I asked. They turned to themselves in surprise. "Is it what am thinking", the lady commented. "I think we should call the doctor", Avery added. I watched as the lady went out to call the doctor. The direction of their eyes moved to the doctor and nurses as they entered the room. The doctor came closer to me and checked my eyes, temperature and my pulses. "How do you feel ma'am", the doctor asked. "A little bit better", I replied in low tone. "Miss do you know who you are?", "what is your name?", the doctor asked in gentle manner. I didn't speak, the silence made them to hesitate. The doctor repeated her question. "I have no idea", I gave an immediate response. "Okay. Do you recognize any of these faces?". I looked at everybody, observing their expressions. They were all tensed up as if they were depending on me, though they were. "Doctor, I don't. I don't even know myself", I spoke audibly. I caught my breath, I was so weak that it looked as if I used up all my strength to do the talking. The doctor examined me and told me to rest. He also instructed everyone to leave the room in order not to cause noise and disturbance that will result to future complications. They were all sad, and they took a deep look at me before leaving the room. They all left, the doctor asked me few other questions and left. I was alone, having a mental reflection of the senero that just happened. I was totally clueless and I didn't know what happened to me.

AVERY'S POV

After my visitation in the ICU room, I took few persons with me along side her daughter to see Riley, as her condition is getting better. When we got there,she was sleeping so we didn't wake her up. Not too long, I noticed that she was awake, so I made it known to the others. She was staring at us and we too did the same. There was something strange about her, but I kept quiet. We had a little conversation in the room and Riley acted dumb, as if she's new. In the process of having the conversation, she was behaving strange, the doctor asked us to leave the room. We left and the doctor joined us afterwards. He came outside, signaled me to come, I came and he asked me few questions. "Ma'am, if I may ask, who are you truly to her?", the doctor asked. "Am her cousin", I replied. "Okay. Let me get straight to the point, your cousin has memory loss". 'She doesn't remember anything, except, that one time she crossed to the other side; She mentions about a man, face white and pure calling her to come, but she heard someone call her name. According to her, she said she turned back, and saw darkness covering the clouds. She turned to look at the man but he was no longer there, but she heard a voice saying to her, "my child, go back and finish the journey". That's the only thing she remembers, so I'll advise you not to bring up things from her past, so that, you won't complicate matters medically', the doctor narrated. I thanked him and left.
