83 Chapter 79 : Spiderman is my Employee

There are numerous theories about how the symbiote came to Earth. After all, Marvel and DC often prioritize plot over logic. One theory links back to the first Secret War. The Transcender, a powerful being, brought a group of heroes and villains to a duel for his amusement. To construct the arena, the Transcender shredded several planets, and one of them happened to be the symbiote planet. This is how the symbiote attached itself to Spider-Man and later followed him to Earth after the Secret War ended.
Another theory delves into the origin of Venom. Before the birth of the universe, a deity named Gnar, who embraced darkness, emerged. When the universe formed during the Big Bang, the Celestial Group appeared with light, leading to a fierce battle. Despite killing several Celestial Group members, Gnar was outnumbered and defeated. Seeking revenge, he used the corpses to forge a sword, creating the first symbiote in history. The forging process made the symbiote vulnerable to sound waves and flames. Gnar, defeated once again, fell on a planet, infecting its creatures and spreading symbiosis. Eventually, he arrived on Earth, where he was defeated. Both stories are intriguing, but the second one is particularly unsettling, as it involves a cosmic deity being casually defeated by Earth.
Jude sneered at these unreliable stories. The Venom in front of him didn't possess Spider-Man, as evident from the lack of spider patterns on its body. Jude brandished his spear, and the purple and white-green waltz materialized in his hands.
Venom laughed mockingly, "What is that? A lighter? Do you think you can use that against me?"
Crash! Peter Parker lifted a stone slab, half-arched, and urged Ivy and Jude to escape while he held off Venom.
"No one can leave; all of you will die!" Venom roared, turning his arms into two massive axes and charging toward Ivy and Jude with a terrifying appearance.
"Be careful!" Peter Parker yelled.
"Go to hell!" Jude responded with three short words. The green waltz transformed into a Colt-sized gun, and a green light lingered around the muzzle before firing a particle cannon beam.
Initially a mere light spot, the beam expanded upon ejection, turning into a thin arm that struck Venom squarely in the chest. Upon contact, there was a deafening bang, and a cloud of blood exploded, leaving Venom in pieces.
"Huh, flesh and blood are feeble, while machinery soars; even the symbiote is no exception," Jude declared, blowing out the gun barrel.
Staring at the debris, Peter Parker was surprised. The monster, who moments ago was hammering him menacingly, had been shot and defeated within seconds.
It was sudden, leaving a stark contrast in the situation.
"That... I won't say it," Peter Parker stammered.
Jude chuckled, pointing his gun at him again. Peter, frightened, backed away, acknowledging that the monster couldn't get him, given his small size.
"Hey! Calm down, my friend. We are fighting together anyway. It's not the right choice to aim our guns at our comrades in arms," Jude said, lowering his weapon.
"My mouth is sealed. I won't disclose a word of what happened today, especially about this lady," Peter assured, attempting to defuse the tension.
Jude put away the green waltz, approached Spider-Man, and patted his shoulders. "Don't be nervous, Parker; I am just teasing you."
"Pa, what am I afraid of? Of course, I am not afraid. But now that this monster has been dealt with, I think I should go," Peter said and walked to the window.
"Little spider, it's useless to pretend to be naive in front of me. Peter Parker, a lucky boy bitten by a spider, gains superpowers. Am I right?"
The little spider's body suddenly stiffened, and his legs felt like they were filled with lead. Turning his head with difficulty, Peter heard mechanical noises on his neck.
Ivy exclaimed, "Peter Parker, my employee, so you are Spider-Man?"
Jude glanced at Ivy, realizing that Spider-Man had already worked with the Daily Bugle.
"Come here, little spider!" Jude beckoned.
Feeling pressured, Peter Parker reluctantly approached. "Is there anything I need to do, Mr. Pistol?"
Jude pulled off his headgear, revealing Peter's shocked face. Ivy was equally surprised, "Wow, Spider-Man is my wage earner. This is incredible. I like the power of capital!"
"Wait, no wonder you can always take photos of Spider-Man. It turns out you were undercover. Come on, are you solving cases? Are you the mastermind behind the scenes?" Ivy wondered.
"I am not; I am not; don't talk nonsense! I am determined to be a superhero; otherwise, I wouldn't have come to rescue you today. Also, please don't fire me. I just shared the good news with Aunt May. She would be very sad," Peter hurriedly denied.
"Whether you will be fired depends on your performance," Jude said, half-threateningly and half-jokingly.
"Don't worry, I'm tight-lipped about Miss Ivy's superpowers. Please trust me, sir," Peter pledged.
As police sirens blared outside, Jude suggested they leave. Spider-Man swung away, Ivy pretended to be frightened, and Jude, picking up an empty bottle, opened the invisibility belt, disappearing calmly.
