15 Deja Vu

[Alice's POV]

" Mommy, where did that uncwel and aunty go??" Ellie asked me with eyes full of innocence. Her curious expressions are the faces that seemed to amaze me the most. Her young curiosity mixed in with her innocent nature are the most wholesome thing to me...

"They have gone to get some work done baby... they will be back soon. You don't have to worry about anything." I said while rubbing my cheek against hers, she squinted her eyes into thin lines in delight.

" Hehehe! Mommy, it tickles~!" She squealed an adorable giggle that melted my heart.

"Aww~ my baby is soooo cuuute!" while cuddling her cute self, a blood-curling noise rang out throughout the entire estate and a second after that, a violent gust of wind swept across the mansion, ravaging its interior.

I immediately pull Ellie close to me within my arms, shielding her against the onslaught of violent winds. I could feel various small objects hitting against my back which were swept away by the winds.

'What's happening!? Was that the sound of all the windows shattering?! what happened, what happened!? did the sound come from the backyard side?..... wait... from the backyard!!!?? REYNOLDS!!!'

A cold, shivering sensation ran down my back as realization dawned upon me. By now, the wind was getting weaker. So, deciding it was comparatively safe, I rushed towards the backyard, Ellie still in my arms as she was shivering from fright, she was so scared that she even forgot to cry. I hugged her closer, trying to calm her down. All that, as I was making my way to the backyard, I was constantly telling myself that everything was alright. Tears started to well up in my eyes as I was trying to deny a supposed reality.

' If anything happened to him, what am I going to say to Darlene and Raymond!? They are gonna be devastated! Oh god, please don't let anything happen to him... please...'

As I was getting close to the site, I saw the horrifying after-effects of the shockwave. Each and every window was rooted out from the wall with its entire frame. The wooden structures were in shambles. It was as if a cloth wall was put up to defend against a cannonball.

As I was getting closer to the backyard, an unusual feeling crept up my mind. It was a sense of Deja vu.

Exiting the back door, I was greeted by a gentle breeze carrying the taste of organic earth. The entire area was barren. But it was not the usual kind of barren land. It was as if someone had uprooted all the life on the surface level, leaving the layers underneath naked, for all to see.

I swept my eyes across the area, trying to search for the boy I came here for. As more time passed, the nauseating feeling inside my stomach became even more unbearable as I started sweating profusely. That was until I saw something that left me both relieved as well as gobsmacked.

There he was... in the centre of it all... Reynolds. He stood there, in a meter or two deep crater. Hands rested on his knees, hunching forwards as he panted and sweated profusely.

"Rey..Reynolds?" I called out, not knowing what to believe and what not to... one would think that having seen it once would make it more believable, but that did not seem to be the case...

"Hmm?... oh, hey aunt Alice.... ahaha... am I in danger...?"

In return, he just gave me a flimsy and tired laugh.

=================

"Wha-what happened?! I was told there was a massive explosion and now I see some of the windows are blasted off!??" Vincent rushed back as soon as he heard of the commotion, only to be greeted by an apologetic Reynolds and a lot of shattered windows.

" A-ahaha, I was training and then something happened to me that created the explosion... and that... explosion... broke all the... windows...... I AM REALLY SORRY FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE PROPERTY!!!!!" Reynolds screamed the last part out, clearly feeling guilty.

"Hah? you were training and there was an explosion?..." Vincent seemed exasperated from all the things that were happening.

"Come on dear, don't be like that... little Rey has just awakened as a mage. He doesn't have any control over any of these stuff..." Tabitha tried to make reason with Vincent, seeing that no one was at fault here.

" Haaaah.... I know dear, it's just that it is very surprising that he has awakened when he is just 6 years old, and there's also Alice's son who had awakened when he was just three! right Alice?" Vincent said, directing the last part towards me.

" Yes, Arthur was three when he awakened, and that in itself is extremely rare and now Reynolds awakened at a mere age of six? How slim are the odds!? It is practically non-existent!" I said, the last part with a little bit of more excitement.

"Mommy, what are you tawking about? What did bwother Rey do.???" Ellie, who was calmed down now, asked me with a silly look, not having the slightest idea if what's happening.

" Oh my baby~ brother Rey has done something really amazing~!!"

" Is it as amwazing as big bwother?"

" Mhmm, is is~"

" Wahhhh....!!" Ellie was now staring at Reynolds with sparkle in her eyes, in absolute wonder and fascination.

" I wonder how Darlene and Raymond will react to this... I mean their son is a once in a century genius! They, themselves are very strong, so Reynolds is ought to be strong too, right?" Tabitha said, placing her index finger under her chin.

" They might be angry that I broke so many windows and other things...." Reynolds whispered with a downed expression.

" No dear, it was not your fault, and your parent can not be anything other than happy after hearing this news. So, you don't have to worry at all..." Tabitha said as she patted his head.

Right then, the sound of the front door, opening was heard, along with Reynolds' voice.

" Alice! I am home! I heard there was an accident, is everyone okay..?"

" We are here Rey~ Everyone is alright, and you wouldn't believe what just happened!" I shouted back, excited to tell him about the miracle that just occured.
