Show mercy or spread death. What do I chose?

As the two humanoid blobs, or should I call them for what they truly are hidden behind the shadows of my own chaotic vision; demons, tried to strike me, my eyes quickly darted around my surroundings and I acted upon instinct upon spotting a trail of black orbs which arched in between the two. I leaped towards the two using my smaller figure to barely squeeze in between the two and

mimicked the trail of orbs. I landed and rolled across the carpeted floor to gain, albeit short, distance between the two demons and myself.

I hoisted myself up and twisted my neck to stare at the two demon blobs; my face only showing pure resolution and confidence, not allowing them to see the nervousness I felt at the thought of dying now, right after I had truly been born. Gently I rubbed my thumb against the side of my index finger. I stopped after rubbing it thrice. For some indescribable reason, I felt the urge to repeatedly open and close my hand. Every time I did so, I felt the soft sensation of something which I couldn't describe, the closest sensation similar to it would be the well-refined and immensely soft silk I had worn when I met my pre-arranged fiancé for the first time… but comparing that to the sensation I was feeling now would be an insult to it, for even that soothing, tender silk felt unnatural to this.

My mind could only come to one conclusion as to why I felt this sensation, 'Issolde... Volcanis.'

The larger of the two demonic blobs let out some sort of distorted, primal screech as it threw out its right arm at me, however contrary to my expectations the speed of the punch was awfully slow, too slow for it to be happening in real time; as if this was some internet video being played at a not-even a tenth of its original speed. What made it even easier for me see the flaws were the gleaming black, red and blue orbs which appeared on and around him; the black orbs, more like rings actually now that I was able to analyse them, were a trail looping down to the left, which would allow me to dodge his punch, the red one on his arm, between the ulna and radius and the other at his shoulder.

It didn't take a genius to understand what these marks meant especially after witnessing the black orbs previously. While the black ring was a flight option, the red and blue ones were a fight response, and I could safely assume that their colours signified whether I should strike that area with Issolde and Volcanis. The only problem being what would occur to it if I were to strike those two spots with Issolde and Volcanis.

A trail of orbs appeared after I figured out what the orbs signified, these ones azure-blue in color, the trail lead towards my left side of my face. Choosing the flight option as I had no idea how I would be able to even reach the demon's arm without putting myself in danger due to our size difference, I followed the black trail of rings.

As I did so, time seemed to revert back to normal as I narrowly evaded the punch.

Turning around, time slowed as multiple options presented themselves to me. Several red and blue orbs, which I shall now call targets were located all over the two demons' bodies, while only two black trails of escape led me to either right behind me or to rush directly passed them.

'So this is [Void Sight]! It allows me to see their planned movements and the direction at which they'll land, as well as a third path; one focused on escaping. But... what happens to the two demons if I strike those given targets with their represented weapon. Seeing Nemesis' mayhem and carnage: how the deceased was shown no mercy even though he overpowered them all to the point of stupidity, I'm going to guess that it won't be painless... if the dead can even suffer from pain. Perhaps I shouldn't...'

While contemplating my situation with my abundant time, two trails of azure orbs appear before me, one to the right and the other to the left, crossing each other.

"Shane, don't fret about the details and just stab those targets, I'll make sure they won't be able to bother you after this." Volcanis' arrogant voice resounded within my mind as I head him let out a chuckle. A chuckle for how this situation was playing out or on how I thought of not fighting them.

I did a backward roll so as to dodge the two of their attacks but ended up slamming my back against the wall unintentionally for I put too much strength behind my take-off, this stunned my movements for only just two seconds. Those two seconds were all the time the two demons needed to recover from their initial attack and direct another wave of strikes at me.

I could see the azure orbs in front of me, I was with my back against the wall and unable to dodge by going back any further and I wouldn't be able to go to the sides as eventually, I'd either hit a corner or the bed and thus would be screwed even further. I couldn't jump in between the two either as the two strikes crossed each other like an 'X' so if I even dared to attempt such a risky move again I'd be struck twice. If I were to stay still the third strike, a kick as the trail of azure orbs originated from the larger one's foot would strike me directly.

All I could do was think of a way out of the situation using my limited time.

'I know where the attacks are coming from, so my choices are to either block the strikes or dodge. I'd stay with the latter but, it won't be long before they trap me again. So… I won't be able to stall forever; what I've done so far has slightly tired me already, must be something Nemesis did to me and my constitution.

Issolde, Volcanis, can either of you two turn into something used for protection and not something which takes the lives of my foes?' I pleaded, hoping for the two to quickly respond.

"Why bother with a defence when the best defence is, after all, a brutal, oppressive, destructive, ruthless, relentless offence! Just stab them or throw us at them and we'll just direct ourselves towards them. Shane, mercy is for the weak! Slaughter them - don't worry Nemesis has blocked out the details for you - show them fear!'

"Shane, heroes don't take a defensive stance in battle. I agree with Volcanis, an unrelenting offence is the best decision in most cases, and I'd include this in 'most cases'."

Gritting my teeth together at the two's response to my plea, I had just once other option left.

I held Issolde and Volcanis out in front of me, only now noticing how the two had lengthened now the size of short swords, though their weight still remained the same, a perfect equilibrium between too heavy and too light. Planning on using the two to withstand the demons' punches or claws or whatever it was. Damn having your vision impaired to only see your foes as only one color is a huge nuisance and hindrance, is this the price of [Void Sight]?

Before I could think any further into it, the two punches hit Issolde and Volcanis as the sound of bones shattering and pain spreading throughout my body reached my brain, strengthening as it was flung the short distance towards the wall causing me to collide with it full force.

I coughed up mouthfuls of blood as I looked down at my arms; quivering in pain as my eyes trailed up to stare at my hands and the two demons. They howled in laughter, speaking some foreign tongue. My eyes, however, focused on my hands, how... empty they were. Eyes slowly glancing down lay Issolde and Volcanis on the ground, their eyes closed; as if they lost faith in me and were disappointed at my choice.

I couldn't move. I could barely breathe as is. Was it really going to end like this? The life which I had now started anew; over in an instant?

'Is this... how it ends.' I thought to myself, distraught at my situation. 'Please forgive me... I couldn't keep my vow to you and ended up in the Underworld... If only I had listened to you... if only I -'

I slowly closed my eyes, reflecting upon my life and the action which I had done which brought me here. Death was looming over me. Guess I can't keep death waiting.

Well... I'm an awful writer. Both story/text wise but also update wise. Well... I'm planning now on having some sort of typing schedule, also chapters will be around 1000 words but less than 2k.

Probably will write -- well plan to anyway -- 800 - 1000 words each day, may be harder as I'm on holiday atm but I'll try.
