No harems allowed!

"Shane, what you've done is something that has never been tried before. The simple reason as to why is due to me never allowing any human before you access to the [Void] for I know the consequences it holds to them. I ask you now, this is the final step..." Nemesis paused and stared at the immobilised Shane.

What he was staring at was not the pained expression upon his face due to the intense pain his body was feeling but at his dirty blond hair, blue eyes and extremely pale complexion which even his skin could rival.

"Do you trust me? I shall be benevolent and allow you to live whether or not you do. I shall even be kind enough to tell you what shall occur with each option." Nemesis began not using a superior or condescending tone that Shane thought he would've but his emotionless one and that unnerved him. "If you disagree, I shall cure you of your poison, remove the power to wield the [Void] and place you back in the human world. You shall be able to keep Issolde and Volancis until your death as they shall return back to my side upon it."

Nemesis halted his explanation to see what Shane's reaction would be to freedom.

Shane's face showed slight confusion which was covered in pain as he barely was able to mutter out softly and strained, mustering all his strength, "Po-poison..? T-trust."

Staring at Shane, Nemesis felt something different. A feeling which he had never felt before emanating off of an individual who was not apart of him. True trust.

Nemesis was unsure whether it was the intense pain or sake of power that he trusted him but he didn't wish to dwell upon it any longer. Someone trusted him, and that was all he needed to know. To him the situation didn't matter, the context sometimes but at a time like this where he had never had a true friend before, actual social life and real interactions with others.

Shane's trust - though unsure as to the reason why he felt so much trust - was all he required.

Smiling slightly, his voice regained some emotion, turning kinder and softer as he continued, "If you chose to accept, Shane know this. You shall never, and I repeat ever! Be fully human again, are you willing to accept that? Accept the fact that the quote-en-quote tainted blood of us demented hell-spawn shall flow within you. If you can accept that and the unknown, extravagant, glorious adventures which await us; then tell me, Shane, do you accept this?" Nemesis stated with youthful vigor growing more well-spoken as he continued. Before waiting for Shane's response or change in expression he added a few more conditions.

"Shane there are more conditions if you accept. One is that while I am no dictator, I wish for your trust but I shall not force you to do anything which opposes your convictions or ideals. Two, you shall keep your mind clear from radicalisation. Trust me, those Zealots from the Church are some crazy bastards. Third and finally, I do not wish for you to create a harem," Nemesis said before continuing, annunciating every word loudly with a scowl, "One! Love! In! Ter! Est! Only!"

Nemesis' eyes stared directly into Shane's eyes as if they were daggers piercing his inside him through the windows to the soul.

Frightened by Nemesis' sudden aggression to the last condition. He wasn't sure what a 'harem' was but he understood clearly the last part. He would only love one person, to which he was alright with. From what he knew of marriage, it was a union between 1 man and 1 woman, so it wouldn't be a marriage if three people were to swear the oath together.

"Ye-ye-ye..." Shane struggled to respond with a complete word but Nemesis understood that he was trying to say "yes".

Whilst nodding his head Nemesis let out a heartfelt smile directed at Shane for his response and the radiant trust he emitted, only visible through the [Void Particles].

"Shane. You and I shall have hard trials ahead of us and I will understand if you wish to give up, but since you've agreed now, I shall not allow you to forfeit. Understood?" Nemesis stated proudly only to not receive a response.

Confused he looked back down at the now unconscious Shane.

'Well... looks like he's passed out due to the pain. Is it really that unbearable? Guess I'll have to ask later.'

Nemesis thought to himself before a thought began to creep into his mind.

'What was it..? What was he banished again for? It had something to do with a girl though no matter how much I try to dwell upon it, I can't remember what she was named or his crime. Why would the humans banish a child who has the aptitude to pass level 100, one whose strength could triumph over Highlords.'

Nemesis frustrated at how he couldn't remember anything more about Shane's past due to him in his previous life not caring for anything much which did not include Deale or his previous life goal. It was even a shock to him that he could recollect that much about Shane for they had only met once and on the same day, hours after meeting each other, Nemesis slew Shane.

Sighing Nemesis carefully picked Shane up in his hands again, he would have to carry Shane away and wait for the army to arrive at [Vanquished Town].

He had already scanned the proximate area surrounding the barracks and found nothing of interest, so whilst bored he expanded his search radius to thousands of kilometres surrounding him and found many obscure [Rank-12 Demonic Villages] and [Rank-11 Demonic Hubs] which he expected to find, however, he didn't expect to find a [Rank-10 Demonic Town] nearby.

The difference between each rank town was significant, however there was another social ranking which many who lived not within the prosperous towns were aware of. From the ranks 12 to 10, they were anarchists towns, the strongest are the most respected and glorified, basically, they held all the power. Within [Rank-9 Demonic Cities] and upwards, though they were still controlled by the strong, clans and famous families lived within there who controlled most of what occurred within the towns behind the scenes, ignoring them though, left just democratic towns with their own council whose members would be elected through elections held every few years who would decide upon how the town would deal with problems which arose, such as repairs for old buildings or construction of new ones.

They even had their own justice system similar to the humans one, though differing which Nemesis was unsure as to how as he was no lawyer and had no idea what the specific laws were except the morally wrong things which he had already broken.

He was sure Shane would receive a shock once he visited these vast cities for he was sure the human propaganda would view demons as uncivilised cretins who acted upon instinct and murdered as they pleased. While he was sure demons of that nature did exist, he was just as confident that messed up humans existed who fit their stereotype and even fit the demon's stereotype just as well. But that was just the exceptions for both races.

'So... I guess since I've finished my mission I should go back to [Vanquished Town] and wait for Shane to wake up. Then I'll have to help him control the [Void]. But I can't forget, I got to remind him to never have a harem.'

Nemesis nodded to himself to affirm his plan as a [Void Gate] opened before him. Through the [Void Gate] he could see faintly see a scarcely lit bedroom with two demons chained to phantom shackles whose origins remain unknown.

Sighing to himself in pity due to him having to deal with those two, Nemesis walked through the [Void Gate] as it closed behind him.

-----

Within [Vanquished Town] many got ready for sleep. The Overlord's ambassador has disappeared after being last seen at the [Dunken's Tavern]. Though he hadn't been seen afterwards, many didn't wish to go out and search for him. They'd rather face the consequences later, for even the most daring adventurous demon would stay indoors during the [Haunting Night] without the ability to see and deal with spirits for it was during this night which came every fortnight that the spirits who held contempt for the living right before death roamed free.

During that night silence reigned supreme over the town as everyone had been taught to stay indoors. Not a single sound escaped from any of the ruined and decaying houses to keep stray spectres from coming towards them and harassing them throughout the night, whispering pleasant comments, wonderous fantasies and extravagant wishes for the low price of letting them in. Their charisma was strong and tactics were vast.

During this night, nothing outside heard a sound coming from the brothel...
