Nemesis...?

"Don't give up child. Open your eyes and never forget..."

I heard a distant feminine voice calling out for me. It sounded familiar but I was unsure as to where I heard it before.

"Child, let it aid you. Never forget the Void. It was never... it was..."

Confused as I couldn't quite make out what the voice was telling me for some words were just... not there! They were just too hard to make out.

Slowly opening my eyes, I stared confused at the two demons who even though were censored so as to not let me see whatever Nemesis didn't wish for me to see. Even with that protection, I could still sense their fear of me... or more specifically something around me.

Lowering my head to stare at my arms which had fallen by my side when I accepted death, a darker shade of navy blue wrapped itself around my arms and I felt a warm, healing sensation occurring rapidly.

I gently rubbed thumbs against my index fingers. Breaking my expectations, caressing my index fingers with my thumbs didn't result in pain, but instead the calming sensation I had brought upon myself through my repetition of this action.

Grabbing at both Issolde and Volcanis again, I stared at the two demons who were trying to open the door and escape. I stood silently, watching them attempt to open the door for several seconds and failing every time. Unsure as to why, I prepared myself for combat.

"Issolde, Volcanis, I know the two of you can hear my, so listen please! I don't wish to kill ,I just need to incapacitate the two." I begged once more, hoping that this time they'd listen.

"..."

Silence reigned supreme as I had already started to block out the noise of the demons ramming themselves at the door.

'Fine... if you won't listen, then I won't use you, it's that simple.'

Without waiting a further second, I sheathed both Issolde and Volcanis. I could only hope to rely on the Void now.

"Please Void! Hear my cry and answer my prayers, become something which can aid me in this crisis so I can strengthen myself and halt any further tragedies."

I spoke aloud to myself. Vision distorting as I bore witness to a whole new world, thousands, no millions, no not even billions or trillions! An endless number of small void spheres which I couldn't even tell the original shape of due to them overlapping covered my vision.

I was clueless as to what to do and before I could even think of anything I heard the sound of the door being kicked down and the two demons screeching in pain, then two loud thuds.

Raising my head to the doorway, Nemesis came to sight, though he was neither blurred, covered in the dark navy-blue void or tall. He appeared to be the 4 year-old kid he introduced himself as to me.

"My dear Shane, imagine what you wish. A shield perhaps, armor even? All is at your whim, conceivable through your very thoughts."

Nemesis spoke to me, with a small yet noticeable proud smile on his face.

"Nemesis...? Since when?" My confused and tired voice asked.

Nemesis in response placed his left arm at his side, closing his eyes as he shook his dead.

Getting the hint, I shut my eyes tight doing as Nemesis asked, imagining a sturdy shield attached on my right arm and a pair of comfortable yet tight gloves on my hands.

I immediately burst my eyes open at the weird sensation on my hands; to my shock and Nemesis' amusement two navy-black gloves and a black shield were forming quickly - finishing seconds later.

"Good, now that you're armed, incapacitate the two of them." Nemesis non-nonchalantly said raising his left arm over his shoulder, gloved thumb point down at what I presume to be the demons as the Void still obscured my vision. "Now time to deal with your problem, doubt you know how to see properly with the Void obscuring your view, here let me help you."

Snapping his fingers my vision changed suddenly and I could once again see the room and not a world of Void. I squinted my eyes at the sudden change of light and rubbed my hand against them before they soon adjusted and I saw that the two demons were picking themselves off of the floor.

Nemesis simply walked off block the doorway and watched silently, expressionless, as I waited for their next moves.

The larger demon spoke nonsensical gibberish to me but I ignored the words and a thought occurred to me. If Volcanis and Issolde wished for bloodshed, I could make do with just that.

Using my left hand, I unsheathed Issolde as I kept my eye on the two demons.

'Issolde. Listen to me, I understand your philosophy, however I'm not that strong to be able to ignore any attack directed at me or fast enough to strike first always. I'm asking you, and I know you know that Nemesis is watching this, so become a gauntlet. A frozen gauntlet... an Iceborn Gauntlet.'

I'm unsure as to my second plea and my resolve after facing death or Nemesis being there, watching them caused Issolde to listen but she did and the sword I wielded turned light blue in color as it covered my hand. It was cold as expected and moments after it transformed into a gauntlet.

A small smile grew upon my face as things looked to be becoming better. With the gauntlet and shield, I now ran up to the two demons who just stood in awe at the sword transforming into a gauntlet, clearly too much had happened so quickly that they were just frozen in shock.

With a loud thud I punched the larger demon with my gauntlet and raised my shield on the, bringing it down upon the second demon, shield bashing it.

I then stared at the two demons for a minute, both not moving.

'Did I.... over do it? I didn't put all my strength into either of those two moves though.'

I could only wearily think as fatigue consumed my body. My eyes grew heavy as my breathing grew strained. i had truly experienced too much today too. Too much action.. for my... body to...-

Just as an apology for not writing for so long. If there's even anyone left reading my novel. Well I'll try upload another chapter tomorrow.
