A Truth Revealed.

Stalking the army was easy, it's large, easily discernible size made it hard to lose. The only problem which made the trio wary was the idea of getting caught for every 10 or so minutes, a small squadron with a Visioner would be sent out of the large regiment to scout the area they were currently in. A normal protocol every army would follow within Hell as many subraces of demons had the ability of stealth in a way and Visioners were the excellent counter to them for they were able to spot any lifeforms within a radius of them. The size of how far they could scan depended on how strong the Visioner was and how far their [All-Sight] ability was.

Even if the Visioner was an Overlord if their [All-Sight] ability would still have the same detection radius as a [Rank-12 Demonic Trainee] if they both were rank 12 in the ability, and vice-versa the strength of the ability themselves would be handicapped by the demon's strength so a [Rank-12 Demonic Trainee] with a rank 1 [All-Sight] would not compare to a Visioner who reached [Rank-1 Demon Overlord] with a rank 1 [All-Sight].

Staying several hundreds of meters away from the army, Matt, Harry and Jack whilst having simple banter following the army rested every time the army did for the next few hours. Though boring, they used those hours to come up with ideas as to why they were retreating back to an unknown place.

3 hours passed of their monotonous following and mundane chats. They had already by then come up with conspiracies from the death of the Overlord to the rise of a rebellion which had to be quenched. They did so not for actually wanting to find the truth anymore but for something to distract them from their boredom and fatigue which crept up on them the longer they walked.

"Well, time to take the pots. Been almost four hours." Jack stated whilst sighing. He let out a yawn as he rubbed his eyes.

The army had stopped to rest for the night. The crimson red sky had turned bleak and their vision became slightly obscured even though their eyes had already adjusted to the dark.

The nights in Hell are short, hot and dark. Visioners became more crucial during this time as they were the only readily available demon subrace which had a detection ability. The rest being rarer or harder to obtain due to political reasons.

The other two nodded their heads as they also let out a contagious yawn. Harry stretched his arm around and Matt stretched his neck and cracked his fingers.

Reaching towards their waist, they each removed a tube containing a murky orange colored liquid from their belts. The tubes were small and light due to there only being 10ml of the fire resistant potion within each vial.

Opening the vials, they raised them to their mouths and gulped them down the foul-tasting, thick liquid begrudgingly. Vile, wretched, nauseating and putrid-smelling were the words which they would use to describe the taste and smell. Shaking their heads in disgust Jack spoke.

"You two sleep first. We'll stay with the normal routine, swapping every 2 hours."

The other two simply nodded, laid down on the warm ground and slept. Jack sighed at the sight then looked back at the army's vast array of tents which swarmed his vision and beyond what he could see.

"Hopefully the Church was right about that." Jack couldn't help but mutter under his breath as he vigilantly kept watch around them.

Shane's eyes slightly shook then slowly opened to see a place which he didn't recognise. The unfamiliar buildings, the unfamiliar surroundings, everything was unfamiliar for him except the mundane red-tinted brown, hard, uncomfortable ground.

Groaning he tried to lift himself up only to find a lack of strength within his arms and legs. He felt so tired and was utterly confused about where he was and how long he had slept for.

All he could do was glance around and a thought surfaced within his mind as he stared at his body which lay in the fetal position on the ground with a black shirt covering it.

'Isn't this shirt Nemesis' shirt? Why is it covering me? Did he place it there and why am I so tired? Wait... the ground, it feels soft and comfortable. Why is it like this, it should feel like lying down on rocks, not laying upon a bed.'

A flurry of questions entered Shane's mind. Before he could think upon more, the sound of shoes crunching against the hard pebbles which had been eroded by the acidic rain in Hell. The water in Hell all being slightly acidic in nature and the intense heat caused the 'Magma Water' as it is called in Hell for its coloration being similar to magma's reddish orange, to evaporate. Thus leading to acid rain.

"Shane, are you alright?" A concerned, slightly feminine voice asked as Shane saw his face splattered in blood.

He knew who it was immediately and thus responded just as quickly, "Well I've felt better. I can't seem to move my body." Shane admitted.

"Well, that was to be expected. This is the first time ever as far as I know that a non-..." Nemesis froze as he bit his lip. The blood on his face turned purplish-black in color before shrivelling up and vanishing. "Well Shane, you're the first human that has ever used the [Void] other than me." Nemesis gave out a small smile to Shane as he looked at him softly, trying his best not to show anything odd whilst at the same time a voice within his head asked him questions.

"So... what were you truly going to say Nemesis? You've changed so much and now you said "non-" something. What do you mean, there's no way you'd say "non-me" as that makes no sense. Has this got to do with how you've changed? The Nemesis I remember was never this kind nor did he ever smile unless when he gave a false, forced one at Deale whilst thinking it was real. So tell me, who are you and what do you want?!"

Hunger demanded Nemesis to answer his questions, his voice being so loud that Nemesis couldn't hear Shane's response nor the sound of the wind. All he heard was Hunger's voice echoing within his head.

"Hunger. Silence now! I am Nemesis, think not that I am different to how you remember. The truth is that I am the same person, just with a clearer mind. That's all." Nemesis responded, slightly annoyed at how his plan had been obstructed, not due to any outside interference but due to his own incompetence with how he wished to save Shane. By doing so he showed how different he was to him originally and how his acting at the beginning was useless.

Those fake tears which he had cried at the beginning over Deale were manifested by the Void.

"Hunger, to prove myself to you that I am still the same Nemesis you remember." Nemesis informed Hunger to which came no reply and instead of taking offense to it, Nemesis simply continued, "When all Joy is lost and Despair reigns supreme. We turn to him, [The Legend of the Abyss], to set us free."

"...Then why won't you tell me how you've changed?" Hunger asked confused and now fully convinced that he was still the same person.

"Nemesis, are you there?"

"Hunger, I think it best we stop. I'll inform you later on what happened. I promise you, and you know how I am with promises, that I shall tell you it all... not only you but Shane too. I just can't right now, Shane's condition is quite serious."

After finishing informing Hunger, he returned back to reality and gazed at the neck-down paralysed Shane before responding with a simple sentence.

"The [Void] was never meant to be used by a human."

Sorry I didn't write from Friday to Tuesday. Those were my last days on holiday and I spent Monday shopping then went to the airport and came back on Tuesday night.

Tired I just slept and had school Wednesday morning. Sadly put it off after writing half this chapter on Wednesday. Finishing it now.
