Royal Ball Drama

When I saw the inside of the ballroom, my eyes grew wide and I couldn't help the small smile that formed on my face. It had an amazing view of the outside courtyard which was covered in snow, and the inside was decorated with white crystals. I knew I was inside a fairy tale but seeing this view really made me feel like a princess.

We were standing on a grand staircase, and I could feel the stares of all the guest and my cheeks grew warm. I involuntarily held the kings arm tighter in case I fell and put on a graceful face.

"Presenting, the king and queen of Friawin, his majesty king Christopher and her highness queen Haily." A steward announces to the room. Everyone cheered and gave us a bow, and Christopher smiled and led us downstairs. When we reached the end, Christopher quieted everyone down and gave out a hearty laugh.

"Thank you all for coming and joining us on this joyful occasion. It brings me great happiness to have you all share the excitement of this royal union. With wonderful people like you all in the kingdom, I'm sure we can make Friawin grow even bigger, now that we have a queen on the throne. For tonight let us enjoy the ball and remember today as a wonderful event." Christopher said with a smile why ending his speech.

I looked at him and had to give a small internal thumbs-up, 'No wonder he is a king, he could make a grand speech like that without worry is impressive.' I thought with a smile.

The steward from earlier that I now know is Steward Lee, came and led us to the royal table. After we were seated some guest came to congratulate us on the union, or give us small flattery. I put on a smile and looked pleasant but inside I was having a melt-down.

Since we arrived in the ballroom and led to our seats I had to keep up this facial appearance for at least an hour. 'How long is this going to go on, I'm starving.' I thought while my stomach was growling. According to what I know, balls are long and very formal but my only problem was that I needed food. Giving Christopher a secret glance, I wonder if he was fine without eating all day, signing at the thought that he might be used to such action.

I listed to make dukes and lords giving me fake compliments while trying to look better in my eyes. From the corner of my eyes, I could see my bride giving me side glances and I fought myself from smiling. 'She must be hungry, even if she is a noble lady I guess this is the first for her going without food for so long.' I thought while listening to lord Taren's words.

Just before I could stand up and announce the beginning of dinner, Duke Langley and his daughter Marisa came forward to greet us. "My king and queen it's an honor to be in your presences, please accept these lowly subjects greeting." He said with a sugary voice.

I let him rise and hopes he would leave but instead he motioned for his daughter to come closer, "My king, please meet my daughter Marisa, she was greatly excited to receive your invitation to this wonderful occasion. Let her give you and the new queen her greetings." He said giving her a look.

"My king and queen, please accept my greetings, I hope for a glorious union between the two of you and hope Friawin grows." She said in a sweet voice and her head down.

Looking at the two of them I signed internally, I could read their intentions like a book. In Friawin, it was not unknown for some nobility to push their daughters to the royal family in hopes of the king's favor but I frown on such action. I was loyal to my first wife and only had a child with her, even if my marriage with Haily is not for love I'll never treat her with disrespect.

Getting angry by their performance and on my wedding day, I gave my steward a slight glare. Seeing my look the steward came forward, "Duke Langley and lade Langley, the time for the feast will begin so could you please retire to your table." He said giving them a polite smile.

Duke Langley hearing the slight warning in steward Lee's voice got up and looked at me, "My king, I know this might seem rude but I have a proposal for you. As the queen is new in court she will need help along the way, I was hoping to my daughter as her highness companion. At the very least it will help the queen feel conformable in her new position." He said.

I gave the duke a glare, "Duke Langley as this is my wedding day I believe you understand what is right and wrong. Now you heard what steward Lee said, you should be on your way." I told him giving him a cold glare.

Duke Langley started to sweat under the king's glare, he quickly gave a bow and took his daughter away. Luckily, the duke is a wise man or I would have to turn this day into a dead end. I looked over at my bride and see that she was turning pale from her hunger. Giving steward Lee a look, he motioned for the feast to begin. At the mention of food, my new queen for the first time today truly gave out a happy smile.

While the king was talking to duke Langley I was lost in my own world, my thoughts kept going back to the original plot of the story. After marring the king, a small war started which made the king have to leave but in the end, he never returns. The queen took over the kingdom which made her become more powerful and sole rule over everything. I don't wish to run things so I'm going to have to make sure war doesn't break out or prevent Christopher from leaving.

I was only brought out of my deep thinking with the mention of food, and I couldn't be happier. After hours of smiling and greeting people, I don't know I was beyond hungry and couldn't wait to see what would be served.

While the dishes were being served I looked over at Christopher and gave him a smile before eating. In the middle of the feast, there was loud sound outside the ballroom, seeing some guards and maids going to check out the commotion. Worried, I gave Christopher a glance and he looked at steward Lee to check out the problem.

A few moments later, steward Lee returned and whispered into the king's ear. Whatever he was told made him frown and glare at the door. Before he could issue any orders the doors were pushed open and maids pushed out of the way.

I watched as a young red-headed lady in a green dress stormed in the room with a crying angry face. Running into the middle of the room she looked around until she faced us, then came running toward us and kneeled on the floor.

With a loud voice, she yelled, "My king, my love, how could you get married?"
