21 Rolling In Cash

Jim was shocked, he had $20,000 in cash sitting on his computer desk. The man who gave it to him had asked for a second painting, and wanted even more later, apparently some rich folk enjoyed looking at the first one. The mystery of the large number of points obtained recently was solved, if this keeps up then wouldn't it be far more profitable than heading to the underpass?

'That reminds me!' He hadn't been to the underpass in a long time, purchasing some ingredients from the shop he had the cooking assist make it up, the speed and quality of the prepared items was lightning fast by now. Of course he didn't forget to equip the Cook job before doing this.

He was frequently getting a large number of notifications these days. The growth was fun but the number of messages was starting to get to him.

With plenty of servings, Jim headed over to the underpass while using Small Gust along the way, he ignored the people staring at him as he passed by despite the high difficulty in doing so.

Heading to the hobbist shop on the way back, Jim picked out some larger pieces of quality wood, he wanted to test the capabilities of Puppeteer and how the material changes the result.

"Hmm...", He couldn't really tell how much the larger size or higher quality wood changed the outcome, since his Puppeteer skill was increasing with each test so he couldn't get a stable benchmark to compare to. The little labrador was sitting on his desk panting while staring at him, he put it in his inventory and started magic practice again.

Jim had improved remarkably, he really started feeling like a mage now, Flame was three times the size of his head, Create Water made a constant stream, Create Earth could fill a hole in a second, Small Gust could knock down small objects. Light Orb was now very bright, enough to generate a resistance skill, it only took a moment to cast all of these spells now and their effects had multiplied.

Clean could now cover his entire room, Deodorant...hadn't changed. He felt it was time to start putting his magic into practice. "Illusion Barrier!"

"Um...Grasslands?" A long stretch of land appeared before Jim, there were no buildings, only wilderness. He could occasionally see large white rabbits jumping out of the tall grass, a few giant bees were protecting a massive hive from apart, he also spotted huge beetles as large as dogs with black shells roaming around here and there.

Heading forward, he parted the grass, suddenly he had a feeling, dodging to the side a white blur popped out of the grass. It was a rabbit, but too large, with a size like a fully grown pig and a unicorn-like spiral horn growing from its forehead. "Appraisal"

'What's with these stats...?' Jim wanted to test his defenses, he had never quite done that in battle before, waiting for the rabbit to attack again he struck out with a punch. His fist collided with the horn and shattered it, then the skull, then the rest of the body, it was a mangled mess. 'I didn't accidentally use Dark Fist, right?' Taking a look at his hand it was completely unharmed as though the event hadn't taken place.

Thinking for a bit, Jim noticed there was no magic stone and took out the low quality Short Spear obtained before, since he can be considered quite strong for this place, he wanted to raise his Spearmanship level. "Let's start hunting."

Coming up on a beetle, Jim activated Intimidating Presence, it never seemed to do anything to zombies but he just kept using it each time he encountered one, now it was level 6 and he wanted to see it in action. The beetle quickly turned and ran at an astounding speed, Jim circulated Snow Treading Steps and caught up and thrust at the creature. A sickening squelch was issued when the spear pierced through the shell, the beetle fell over dead. 'Whoops, forgot to appraise it', he placed the beetle's corpse in his inventory and continued on.

Crouching down, he moved forward silently attempting to catch a rabbit unaware. Once he was within striking distance the spear shot forth and pierced the critter's head.

Keeping the rabbit in his inventory, Jim decided to try out Flame on a nearby Beetle. 0.9 seconds passed and a large ball of fire headed over, the beetle let out a cry and collapsed, but the fire lit the nearby grass aflame 'Oh Shi-' quickly casting Create Water doused the flames. 'Okay, remember, pay attention to terrain'

The beetle's body seemed ruined, he left and kept hunting.
