64 City

Meeting with Zana, Jim was filled in on what had gone happened while he was gone. Zana had been appointed mayor of the city as it began expanding, the constant harvest of food allowed the population to expand greatly.

After explaining his side of the situation, he let the elves out. Jim set up four more hydroponics facilities in order to ensure it wouldn't be a burden on the city's resources.

It seems they had kept one of the houses empty for his usage, in case he ever returned. Retiring to his place, Jim began casting Create Stone and carving more Stone Men, along with replacement parts for the already damaged ones.

After using subordinate enhancement, the puppets weren't as strong as his earlier ones. 'Is it due to my own power being lower?' When his arms got tired from carving stone, Jim decided to practice some cultivation techniques. 'I can't increase my realm due to the seal, but the other skills I neglected along the way should work, right?'

Currently, Jim's mana and qi reserves are horribly low compared to before. 'Let's practice some inner techniques.' Circulating Soaring Immortal Bird, Jim could hear the cry of an eagle resounding from his body. He felt like he was drifting among the clouds, surveying the land. It was just an illusion, he was still in the bedroom, but the feeling was majestic.

Checking his Qi, it had increased by an impressive amount, but still wasn't enough for the more advanced moves to be used.

'Alright, my Divinity rose when I cooked for the elves before, should I have the city's populace eat my cooking this time?' Heading outside, it was getting dark. Jim pulled out some cookware and began making numerous dishes. The foxes and elves nearby gathered at the sight.

'Hm? I didn't get Divinity this time, what's up with that?' Thinking it over for a while, Jim had a theory. 'Is it emotion? Gratitude? When I cooked for the elves before, they were starving and hopeless. Now, everyone present is safe and well fed, so there's less impact.'

Forcing people into a desperate situation so he could save them wasn't something Jim was willing to do. 'Let's focus on Brain Boost.'

After everyone was stuffed, Jim talked with Zana about the arrangements for the Elves.

Zana: "Unfortunately, we don't have enough beds."

Jim: "Alright, I'll do something."

Heading out the east gate, Jim opened the systen shop and began purchasing stone walls. Matching them to the size and style of the established walls, he doubled the city's size. Setting up more houses, his recently gained points went up in smoke. Luckily, the new houses were close enough to connect tot he facilities. 'These really have a large range, don't they?'

Heading back to the western portion of the city, he informed Zana of the changes.

Zana: "I really don't understand how you can do this..."

Jim: "Don't sweat it."

Zana: "Alright, I'll assign the housing."

Torka: "Jim, let me show you something!"

Torka began chanting. 'Oh? He learned magic?' After a minute, a fireball appeared and smashed into the ground. Jim clapped as Torka put on a proud expression.

Jim: "Pretty good, let me show you some tips."

Granting him casting related skills, Jim held a short seminar on magic. Several foxes and elves gathered around to listen in. Halfway through the lesson, other citizens gathered.

'Oh? I got divinity from this?' It was getting late, Jim decided to wrap this up.

Jim: "Alright, that's all for this time. I'll hold another lesson tomorrow."

Torka began casting again, he was able to complete his fireball in merely 30 seconds this time. Looking over at Jim with shock written on his face caused Jim to smile.

Jim: "Torka, do you guys have a bow and some arrows to spare?"

Torka: "Ah? Yes! I'll go get them!"

Jim had been reliant on magic for his long range combat, but the chaos seal had dramatically reduced his mana capacity. After pondering for a while, Jim decided to test out more mundane forms of ranged combat.

Torka soon returned with a simple bow and a quiver holding a few dozen arrows.

Jim: "Thanks."

Torka: "Mm."

Slinging the quiver over his back, Jim clumsily tried to set the arrow and pull the string. Talia sighed at his ineptitude and approached to help.

Talia: "Your stance is all wrong. Here, like this."

Spending a few hours, Jim got the hang of firing the bow. His accuracy was absolutely terrible though, 1 out of 20 shots would land on the target.

Thanking Talia, he walked her to her new house before returning to his own. Jim sighed as he crawled into bed. 'It was really hard not to attack Talia earlier, I need to control these goblin instincts.'
