8 Stakes

Closer and closer she stepped to me with a black dress with an opening that would expose my back in her hands. I had been able to stand up for a while now and Martha has been trying to get clothes on me for the past 15 minutes. With each step she took toward me I replaced with a step backward as the dress swayed back and forth taunting me.

"It's pretty and I'm sure it'll fit you perfectly miss." She offers and I hold my hands up to her to stop her from coming any closer.

"Please, I don't want to wear that. I don't want to see him. I just want to go home." I announce to her as she nods dropping her arms from in front of her. "So no food?" She asked a hint of disappointment in her voice as she spoke.

I sigh and look at her lowering my hands as well. "I would like food but I would not like to be forced into that dress."

"So be it. Master will not approve but I'm sure you can handle him." She teased as the impending danger loomed over my mind as I processed it. I dreaded having to be a snack for that dreaded vampire and grumbled with disgust grabbing the dress from her hand headed for the bathroom.

She smiles happily as I accepted my fate. I get to the doorway and turn to look at Martha with the dress in hand. I glare at her as she flashes a toothy grin while I slam the door behind me. Stripping my clothes off I notice the bite on my neck and wince at the sight of the two holes in my skin.

Turning the handle to the water for the shower as the cold water billows out of the shower head into the tub. This whole house was time confusing. Martha wore Elizabethan clothes, Sebastian wore modern clothes, this house has a modern exterior, this bathroom is old fashioned. What was their plan for this house? It's giving me a headache.

I step into the shower feeling the cold refreshing water cascade down my body taking the dried blood with it. Keeping my eyes closed while enjoying the short amount of relaxation that I had needed the entire day. Prying my eyes open slightly to be able to look around the shower for the shampoo. I wrap my hands around the bottle, squirting the gel into my open hand and massage my scalp. The relaxation continues.

Turning off the water and climbing out of the shower was a struggle cause I wanted to stay in there for at least one more hour. I don't care if I made their water bill go up, I wanted to enjoy myself for at least a couple seconds in this hell hole of a house.

Wrapping the towel around my shivering limbs from the ice-cold temperature the house was set at. Damn vampires and their freezing skin I swear. I manage to dry myself off with the amount of strength I had gathered from when I was in bed. Looking at the dress one more time before letting the towel that kept me warm for the most part fall to my feet.

The dress fitted my figure quite nicely and surprisingly comfortable. Except for the air that attacked my skin from the hole in the back of the dress. Drying off my hair and not even bothering to make it look nice because screw it, I'm not letting him get what he wants.

Heels were placed by the outside of the bathroom door for me to put on and I walked right past them. No heels. I'll look like a newborn calf and there's no way anyone is gonna catch me in those stilettos. Walking to the door Martha stops me abruptly from nowhere. Where the hell was she hiding?

"You need to put the heels on Miss Jade, Master's orders." She insisted and I shake my head in defiance. "Not putting them on. I'm going to dinner like this." I asserted making sure she understood and opened the door for me. "Very well, this way to the dining hall."

After a few minutes of roaming the maze-like halls, we finally manage to get to the dining hall where I feel my heart jump into my throat. There had to be at least 20 vampires in this room. How did I know you may ask? Each of them had their fangs sunk deep into their own "blood bag". Except for Sebastian who was sitting at the end of the table. He was waiting for someone else. He was waiting for me.

"Look who decides to show up. Jade dear, sit down next to me." He insisted while I glance around the room at the bloodsuckers who were having a feast from my own kind. I slowly make my way over to him and his gaze washes over me, trailing past my skin. His devilish smile turns to a scowl when his eyes land on my hair and bare feet.

"Why are you not wearing shoes? And did you not do your hair? I want my guests to at least look presentable." He complains and I scoff sitting down at the empty seat beside him. "Cause I can, deal with it."

I hear a growl rumble from his throat and raise my eyes brows at him when the rest of the vampires looked at Sebastian with terror on their faces. They then turned to me with pity written over their foreheads and I sigh twiddling my thumbs around each other.

Sebastian stands up from his chair and walks behind mine and I can feel the fury radiating off him and penetrating my soul. He grabs my shoulders gently and looks down at me with his piercing auburn eyes. I lift my head to look up at him and my god was that a mistake.
