7 Hungry? Grab Karl

Karl's POV

Going inside, he saw an amazing array of colorful crystals embedded deep into the cavern walls. The cave has a very high ceiling and it was lit by the crystals, making it easier to see inside. There are also a huge amount of stalactite and stalagmites on the cave. He is on high alert because the quest showed kill counters of "Corrupted Soul". He heard a shuffling sound, but cannot pinpoint where it came from because it echoed throughout the cavern. He continued searching around the cavern when he heard another shuffling, looking behind him he saw a creature that can only be described by comparing it to a walking corpse. Maybe it was once an elf, or human he cannot be sure. It has tattered clothes and bloodshot eyes and mangled, rotten body.

He jumped back because it suddenly tried to grab him. He got his sword out and rushed to the creature, slicing its torso in the process. It fell down and stood up again. Walking forward toward his location. He attacked again this time running to it, then circling it behind, giving it a X wound at its back and then he retreated. The health bar of the creature doesn't seem to lessen with his attacks. He tried again, stabbing it with his sword. Unfortunately it was stuck to its body.

He hold onto it and jump-kicked the creature, freeing the sword. He retreated again and thought of a way to deal with it. He remembered all those zombie movies that he watched. Maybe it has the same mechanic, he has to cut off its head. He grinned and attacked it, aiming toward its neck. His sword was stuck on the neck of the creature and it grabbed him. It's face inches from him, trying to take a bite out of his face. Did this creature just tried to eat my face?! He can smell its horrendous breath. He pushed it successfully but he was scratched by its mangled hands. -Received 20% damage- He saw on his notification. What the hell? that was so much hp from just a scratch. Better be careful now. With the sword still on its neck, he has no way to fight it. He has to get his sword. He went near it and when it was about to grab him he dodged and went behind the creature, kicking it from behind to make it fall down. Pulling the sword free from it, he held it down with his knees and took a swing on its neck, finally beheading it.

-You have killed a Corrupted Soul-

-You have gained 100 experience-

Corrupted Soul 1/100 (1%)

Source of Corruption 0/1 (0%)

It is the same as the movies. The developers of this game, very cliche. Karl said while shaking his head. This will be easy since the creatures are slow, he has to make sure that he doesn't get grabbed again. He heard more shuffling and grunts. It means that his fight with the creature has been noticed by others. Luckily it was a small group of creatures, so he took offensive. He made sure that he hits it on the right angle so that it won't lodge on the creature again. He took a slice on its neck and it was stuck again! He withdrew. NOT AGAIN!! he said. With an exasperated sigh he did the same technique with this one. It was successful and he got his sword back and the creature beheaded. He tried the neck slicing technique again on another corrupted, this time a single strike and a head was seen rolling. YES!!! he shouted. Now rinse and repeat, he thought to himself. He killed around 11 creatures and some was easily disposed, others were harder because he can't seem to hit the neck at the right point. He was quite dirty from rolling and maneuvering on the ground while fighting. On his right side he saw the kill count, it was now 12/100.

Continuing, he encountered more creatures. His head severing technique was getting better. It took him quite a long time since he has to hit one corrupted before retreating, if he stayed for too long and one of them grabs him he might die just because of the numbers they had, fortunately they are scattered all around the cavern. They are varying kinds of corrupted, he noticed it by now. Mostly humans and elves but there are the occasional dwarf. The rarest of them all was a single orc. It was huge, standing 7 feet tall it scared him. He had to disable its legs before trying to dismember it. He had a hard time because its neck was very chunky, full of rotting flesh. The kill counter is now 84/100. He almost died a couple of times because he was grabbed and another corrupted bit him. He only has 2 potions left. Luckily after around 67 of the creatures he can already behead them by a single strike. They are not dropping items which is unfortunate but at the very least they give some experience. There are no more zombies in the cavern and he found another entrance that adjoined this cavern to another. A narrow entrance than only a single person, or in this case an elf can squeeze through.

This cavern is smaller from the first one. He heard more groans. He disposed of the remaining zombies with ease. The kill count was now 100% and the creatures are no more. Now his problem is where can he find the source of corruption. He did what any player would do. He searched around the second cavern for clues and voila, he found a lever disguised as a stone. He found it because he held onto a stalagmite to stand up when he took a rest because he was annoyed he cannot find anything. He heard something move inside the cavern and another entrance was found. He went inside, sword drawn and ready for battle.

The hidden room was like a library and laboratory. Books and concoctions lined the wall. he ignored the books and he did not dare touch the concoctions because he does not know what it is or what it does. There is another book sitting on the table beside a purple orb. The purple orb has some kind of cloud moving inside, as if it was alive. The book has a scribbling that he cannot understand. Probably some kind of ancient language he thought. He took the book and orb beside it. Looking for things of value inside the hidden room. He found a leather pouch hefty with coins. He will look into it later. There is a crystal that was on a pedestal in the center of the room. Thinking it might be of some value, he touched it. He was notified by the system that it was the source of corruption and he needs to destroy it.

Karl dropped the crystal and tried stepping on it. It cracked, he stepped on it again and again until it gave away, breaking into tiny pieces.

-You have destroyed the source of corruption, get out of the cave to finish the quest-

Since he has nothing else to do, he went out of the cave. As soon as he step out of the cave another pop out was shown.

Damn that quest took long but the rewards were worth it. He wanted to return to the city right away to get his class. He used his teleport scroll and returned to the Gate of the last town he was in. Arriving at the town, he asked around to try and know where he can go to change his job. He was told to go to City of Midea for it is where job master can be found. He decided to buy potions and multiple scroll of teleportation before heading to the city. He it took him more than 1 hour of travel to get back to the tree with the Warp Portal hidden in it. He entered the portal and was back to the City of Midea.

From there he asked around where to find the Job Master. He was told to go to the Central District and find ask there. He did what he was told and he found out that the Job Master's building was smack in the middle of the district. It has a big signage that says "Job Change Here!". It was an extravagant building and when went inside there was a receptionist. He was told to wait and will be called when it was his turn to talk to the Job Master.
