The World Below
Sarah's world went black with only the sounds of sirens. She knew what had happened. She knew the car had been hit and that she failed to stop it. She had no feeling in her body. People began chattering around her, they talked like she was dead. She tried to mutter words but nothing would come out. She could hear herself being loaded into an ambulance but as they raced down the road to the hospital her breathing got harder. She would cough if she could but she is sure her whole body was busted up. She was just a pile of broken bones. A ringing started to form in her ears as it all slowly faded to silence.
A light began to flood her vision but it wasn't the burning white of a hospital light. It was the flicker of a flame from a crimson red fire. She could not hear still but even with her vision back it was like Just a peek into the afterlife. She moved at the will of another being. Through her little vision, Sarah could see souls being tortured by demons left and right. She saw everything from dismemberment to being burned but it happened to the same soul over and over again. "Why am I seeing this now and why is it through someone else's eyes?" She said to herself over and over again.
She felt a sharp feeling on her chest or at least where her chest should be. A large demon came up to whoever she was seeing all of this through as it leaned down to make eye contact with it. The demon had only one question for it. "Did you bring the soul?" The voice had a hiss to it. She felt the pain again. "What is this pain?" She kept asking herself as her vision began to become a fluctuation of flame red and burning white. "Wake up honey please!" Her mom's screaming pleading voice echoed in her head. "I am trying mom." She said in a soft voice. The pain came again and the flames of hell got washed out with the burning white lights of the hospital.
Her chest burned as she drank down air like a person who just came out of the desert heat. "Where am I and why does my body hurt?" She asked. As Sarah talked she noticed that her mouth was dry and she assumed it was from her being out cold. "Sarah you have been in a coma for about a week now." The doctor told her as he slowly entered the room. "I missed the play?!" She yelled it out as a question but it sounded a bit harsh for what it was. "No ma'am actually your class has postponed it till you had been able to make it." The doctor spoke with a small grin. She smiled a small amount but also thought why she would go if she couldn't help. As this thought began to take over her mind her face became grimmer. "I would be useless to them so I don't know why they would hold it off for me." She said with her face sinking into her hands. "Sarah you are in perfect health besides a few scratches." The doctor tried to cheer her up with this statement.
With a buzz of his pager, the doctor left the room leaving Sarah with her mom and her newly accepted dad. "Sarah we will leave soon and tomorrow you can go to school and see your friends again." Her mom spoke with a voice that was both caring and irritating. "I don't have any friends mom!" Sarah doesn't know why she yelled at her mom but she did before storming out of the room. She now found herself amongst the sick and dying with only the sound of coughs and beeps from machines. She ran down a hall trying to find an elevator that could take her to a snack machine as she saw her dad following her. "Don't follow me, dad!" She yelled down the hall before as the elevator opened around the corner from her.
"Sarah wait!" Moloch yelled as he got into the elevator with her just in time. "What did you see Sarah, just before you woke up?" He asked her in a very serious tone. "I know you saw something or else you wouldn't be in fear like this." His expression fell away with the statement. "I saw pain and suffering in a pit of fire." Tears formed in Sarah's eyes as she spoke. " I saw the sins of everyone that is present in this building." She continued before Moloch could speak. "I can see everyone's sins now and I can see who is going to hell." She ran into Moloch's arms. "Dad I am scared." She spoke in a muffled voice as his arms wrapped around her. "I know baby but I was scared also when my powers came to be." He helped her to the floor as hospital security came into the elevator.
