"Ah, Mei'er came to see me, what a pleasant surprise!Please, take me to the guest room where she is," Chen Wei feigned surprise in front of the maid, as inside, he had already expected the girl to come check on his health after hearing what happened, as she always visits him after he returns from a mission.

"With pleasure, young master," the maid called Sui Ye bowed before Chen Wei again before heading to the guest room, closely followed by Chen Wei, which made her feel a bit nervous.

"Hmm, this maid is becoming quite audacious with her attitude..." These are Chen Wei's thoughts as he calmly follows behind Sui Ye, despite her composed and calm words, Chen Wei still easily perceives the disdain and anger in her expression and tone of voice.

But he lives on the southern border, so if he merely touched this maid in a way that could be seen as improper and someone found out, it would be enough for the clan leader to break off his engagement with Wang Mei, destroying the carefully crafted plan by his grandfather.

Of course, this is assuming that someone found out that the two were doing something indecent and had concrete evidence. So, it's not really a big threat; otherwise, his grandfather would never have let him have such a beautiful and young maid, fearing that Chen Wei might fall for her charms.

In fact, now that he thinks about it, this girl's plan is almost the same as Shen Cui's plan with Fang Zheng, which is something completely stupid to do with someone who isn't a complete idiot like the early novel's Fang Zheng. Well,and this plan would only work for Shen Cui, of course, if the customs of the southern border are still the same after so many years, which Chen Wei thinks is the case because of what he read in the novel.

"Ah...Chen Wei, are you okay?! I was so worried!" Wang Mei quickly jumps out of her chair and delicately rushes towards Chen Wei, trying to maintain some level of elegance as she approaches him before kissing him and wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You idiot, I was happy wanting to show you my new Gu and you make me so worried like this..." She says as she backs away from Chen Wei after realizing that her attitude was inappropriate, even with their status as engaged, although she almost always does this when she sees him after he returns to the clan, to the point where her maid teases her about it.

"These kinds of things happen to us talented children of important people... but don't worry, It won't happen to you." Chen Wei strokes her head to comfort her since he doesn't want to see her sad, as over time he has really started to care about her even though he wanted to avoid it.

It would be very easy for an outsider to say that those who have loved ones or people they love and care about in the gu world are stupid because of the nature of this cruel world or that Chen Wei should have a similar attitude to Fang Yuan in the novel.

But these people fail to realize that the indifferent and cold attitude toward the world, capable of ignoring one's own emotions and sacrificing everything for eternal life, like Fang Yuan's, is not a norm, not even among the Venerables. In fact, it's almost unique to him and led him to achieve the great success he had in his life.

Or the first Primordial Origin Venerable, who lived his life for the sake of humanity and its prosperity without ever asking or expecting anything in return for his efforts and sacrifices.

And so the list goes on with Giant Sun, who loved his various wives and descendants alot, or Paradise Earth, who lived his life as a Buddha to help people and to heal the gu world from the unrestrained killing of Spectral Soul era.

Even less so for normal people like Chen Wei who live mortal lives that don't even compare to those legends of human history, who even after living thousands of years and seeing and doing unimaginable things still had feelings or emotions.

Furthermore, the thought of living in this world or any world without making connections with other people who could be relatives, friends, or lovers is completely unrealistic and something only a fool would think possible.

Even Chen Wei, who always considered himself someone with few feelings, has done acts that would be enough to classify him as a despicable psychopath in the eyes of many, but he still feels emotions, and after living here for so many years, he obviously cares about his family.
