1 World of Reverend Insanity

The wolf tide on Qing Mao mountain had been a rough one this year. It had caused several losses to the three clans on Qing Mao mountain, leaving many orphans behind. Three year old twins of the Fang family, Gu Yue Fang Yuan and Gu Yue Fang Zheng, were among them. As cruel as fate would be to these young kids, they had the surname 'Gu Yue' and their parents had left a sizable inheritance in their name. Their uncle and aunt had eyed their inheritance and had taken them in. They were tortured by their step-parents in the name of discipline but there were others who had a fate worse than them.

One such person was nine year old Gu Yue Guangzhi. His father was a member of Gu Yue clan and mother was a member of Bai clan. In this part of the world where importance was given to family name above everything else, their marriage was opposed vehemently by both the clans. They belonged to opposing clans on Qing Mao mountain to begin with. However, they had a decent cultivation and respectable battle prowess as Gu masters of Rank 2 so they were able to get married. They gave up their wealth and inheritances to appease the elders of their clans to do so. People made life tough for them on purpose but they were able to maintain a happy family.

They had an adorable young son whom they pampered since he was born. But now all of that was gone. They were sacrificed as pawns in this wolf tide and now their son, Gu Yue Guangzhi, had to fend for himself. Though he was loved by his parents, he had a slight understanding of the way other people in the clan treated him. Having heard the news of his parents' deaths, he felt that he lost his only pillar of support in this world. He collapsed and lost consciousness. However when he woke up again, he wasn't Gu Yue Guangzhi anymore.

"Ughh, my head hurts so badly. Was that a dream? I thought for a second that I was hit by truck-kun… but it feels so weird. Wait a minute, this isn't my room! This isn't even my body! Who am I? Gu Yue Guangzhi… Is that my name? I can barely remember."

As he slowly recalled his memories in this world, he unconsciously started crying after recalling the love that his parents showed him. He too had a loving family back on Earth. Now that he is so far away from them, he realized the he hadn't loved them as much as he could. When he was bullied by his peers and relatives, they had supported him in every way they could but he just pushed them away and became an online troll to vent his anger. Somehow he stumbled upon a message board for Reverend Insanity and started trolling them. Maybe he pissed some supernatural being he shouldn't have and now he was sent to this world as a punishment.

Soon, memories of the wolf tide rushed to his mind. The horror that it brought in the mountain and the pain of losing his parents as a result engulfed him. He started shaking in fear as he realized the dangers of this world. He begged forgiveness to all the gods he could think of, to send him back to his world. He made promises to treat his parents well and become a model human being but nothing happened. He passed one month in grief as he slowly came to terms with this reality. His grumbling stomach and abject poverty forced him to sober up. The little amount of compensation that the clan had given him, owing to the battle merits his parents had accumulated during the wolf tide were about to be exhausted.

As of now, he was only a mortal without any abilities to use gu. In this world, where gu masters that use the wonderful abilities of gu were the apex of food chain, he was just another bottom feeder. He had the Gu Yue family name but it amounted to very little. Without the name, he would've been a slave who would've been at the mercy of other gu masters but how different was his life now? He scoffed at his own life. The usual trope in any transmigrator's novel is that the main character gets an overpowered cheat ability or some rare ancient treasure to sky rocket their cultivation. But he didn't have any of that.

The only 'treasure' he had was a rank 1 bamboo sprout gu that his parents had left him as an inheritance. It wasn't even a rare or overpowered gu. It could be commonly found in Qing Mao mountain. Rather it was treasured in their family because it was the first gift that his father had given to his mother when he first met her. It looked like a small flower bud and his mother often used to joke that when his father first saw her, he forgot himself in a daze and had given this gu to her as a gift instead of an actual flower.

He could've had some hope for the future if he had actually read the novel Reverend Insanity beforehand. That way he could at least take advantage of the events that would have happened later and progress his own cultivation. But he knew very little about this world. He only knew a few things from the memes he saw about Reverend Insanity.

Fang Yuan is cunning.

Fang Yuan is ruthless.

No one can defeat Fang Yuan.

During this past one month, he had observed Fang Yuan a few times. He would act like a mature adult being only three years of age. He even heard that Fang Yuan can even recite poems. Having heard all this he doubted if Fang Yuan was a transmigrator like himself. He also remembered about Fang Yuan having 500 years of experience once before on the message board. Could he be reincarnated to his youth after death? Transmigration and reincarnation? A double cheat? No wonder Fang yuan grew so powerful. He grew envious of Fang Yuan but envy doesn't fill his stomach. So he abandoned such thoughts he had and focused on finding a livelihood.

A shrewd businessman in the clan had offered jobs to the orphans in the clan as his service to the clan. Gu Yue Guangzhi had no other choice though. Several slaves in the clan would gladly take up those minimum wage jobs as a blessing. He took up on the offer and began his life. The clan would open up the spirit spring to it's younger generation when they reach fifteen years of age to awaken their aperture. He decided to patiently wait for that day to start his journey as a gu master.
