1 Chapter 1 - The Old and the New

Ding Hao Mountains

In the darkness, there were small lights on the top of the mountain.

It was the Du Village.

A large fire was lit in the centre of the small village which illuminated the surroundings and many people were present.

It seemed to be joyous occasion as there was a rare smile on people's face.

Their gazes were fixed on a couple holding a newborn baby.

Their world was already very small and seeing a new member added to the village brought them happiness.

Outside the village was pure darkness, which was really dreary and dangerous.

In the current Post-apocalyptic Era, the number of human beings were rare. The world was full of dangers and people struggled to survive. The survival rate of newborn had been very low and hence these people were closely dependent on each other to survive.

This was the current Gu World.

The cultivation in Gu World contains 9 ranks where Rank 9 which were also known as Venerables were being considered as apex an era ago. Total of only 10 Venerables had appeared until the Grand Era began.

However, Hundreds of thousands of years ago, a Demonic path overlord had surpassed the ranks of Venerable and entered the realm of unknown.

He was widely known as Old Ancestor Fang Yuan.

No one knew whether he was a genuine Rank 10 existence or a quasi - Rank 10.

However, he was an untouchable God who did as he pleases.

Tales of his adventures were spread throughout the world for hundreds of thousands of years knows as "Path to Immortality".

Even now, when information about the current status of Gu world was unknown to most, even mortals had heard about "Path to Immortality". It was similar to how "Tales of Ren Zu" were previously spread around the world.

"Path to Immortality" ended with Fang Yuan refining every Gu to Rank 9 Immortal Gu and disappeared. Hence, no Immortal Gu existed in this world currently.

Many people believed that Fang Yuan has failed in his path and supposedly died.

Occasionally, his gigantic will would sometimes take action and break havoc upon the world.

Both the White Heaven and Black Heaven had been destroyed by Fang Yuan experiments cutting off the only light source of Gu World.

The Gu world had been plunged into eternal darkness.

Also, the Grand Dao and Heaven's Will had been affected leading to the world being more unstable and dangerous than ever for its lifeforms.

Many variant species such as mermaids and Inkmen had been wiped out of existence only believed to be existed in Fang Yuan's Aperture.

Ascension to Gu Immortal had become harder than ascending to Heavens.

This lead to the current Post-apocalyptic Era after the Grand Era.

This world, which had lost all it's hope, was about to bring a new source of life.

This story is the adventure of the person, who will bring the secrets of the world to the light and step on the path of it's predecessor, the "Path to Immortality".
