Lightning wolf pack attack

At another location.

A group of three Gu Masters was fighting fiercely, their formation under a siege of lightning wolves, being surrounded and assaulted by lightning wolves non-stop.

'Iron Skin Gu.' Gu Yue Chi Shan coldly called in his heart and his fist flashed with a gray metallic luster. He pounded down his fist at the nearest lightning wolf and crushed its head, before sending out a kick and breaking the spine of another.

A bunch of wolves then jumped on him all at once.

'Double Orifice Stove Gu!'

An aura of flames exploded all around Shi Shan's giant red body.

The explosion burned and knocked back four lightning wolves with a single move. Their bodies were charred and they were either completely dead or could barely move a single limb as they laid on the ground at the verge of death.

Next to Chi Shan was Chi Dan. He controlled a twenty meter branched iron vine in his hand and used it to create a portable fence-dome around him and his teammates, sweeping and pushing away lightning wolves that tried to overwhelm them. It had little offensive power, but it prevented them from being surrounded.

Nearby Gu Yue Chi Suo was keeping her distance while from time to time sending out a moonblade to support the other two.

A slender moonblade traveled for a whole fourteen meters, arriving at a location where there was a gap in defense. The lightning wolf dodged it, but it still cut at its two legs, sending it tumbling and crippling it.

Not only lightning wolves, but even regular wolves have excellent night vision. Wolf Eye Gu is a one of the more popular scouting Gu worms that provides greatly enhanced vision during both the day and during the night, and this Gu is especially popular on Qing Mao Mountain.

The reason that Chi Yan chose this Wolf Eye Gu as his scouting Gu was exactly in preparation for these kinds of beast horde attacks which would happen during the night and which are the most dangerous.

Though the most important reason for choosing it was that Wolf Eye Gu was very easy to use, because it was a sight-based recon Gu. Using one's sense of hearing or temperature detection to scout around would naturally be much more difficult than simply using one's own eyes, and Wolf Eye Gu could even be easily used during combat, day or night!

Solitary blue-eyed lightning wolves began rushing through the village roads and breaking into the houses, beginning their hunt. Two fireballs formed in his palm. When the first wolf got near enough Chi Yan sent out his palms and his fireballs shot at the closest lightning wolf, before sending out two more sets of attacks at the other two wolves assaulting him.

It was a Rank 2 Fire Pellet Gu that was used, so adding in Chi Yan's Blazing Glory Lightning Physique the power of these fireballs didn't need to be questioned, but their size and traveling speed were also enhanced.

Three wolves were unable to avoid the rounds of attacks and were at least hit by one of the large-apple sized fireballs. The fireballs burned holes out through their bodies, killing two that had their heads or spain broken, and completely crippling another one that had its chest and all internal organs pierced and boiled.

"Lord…"

Chi Yan heard nervous voices of the two mortals coming from behind him. He turned around and saw the mortal man and his daughter looking on from behind him fearfully.

He was about to close the door, but after thinking for a moment he left it open. He turned around and pointed to a corner of the building where the kang was.

"If you want to live, go and stand in that corner," Chi Yan commended as he pointed his hand.

The two mortals did not dare protest and nodded their heads, walking back deeper into the building. On the way the man picked up a hunting knife and a bow, and upon seeing that, the mortal girl also picked up a knife from the kitchen area.

The two mortals then stood on top of the kang in the corner of the room, holding their weapons, while Chi Yan had already also gotten deeper into the room and watched the entrance.

The situation inside the building was calm for a while, so Chi Yan took this chance to inspect his primeval sea.

It appeared that Chi Yan's primeval essence dropped by over 20% after just the previous attack.

That was the nature of beasts like lightning wolves - they tend to hunt the weak prey first. Upon seeing the charred three wolf corpses before the door, they avoided Chi Yan's house and instead started hunting mortals in the other houses.

However, Chi Yan didn't need to wait for long until a new lightning wolf entered the doorstep, seeming to want to check things out.

The lightning wolf was immediately greeted by a wave of three fireballs drilling holes through its body. It died on the spot.

Following that, from time to time a wolf or two would barge into the building through the open door, but Chi Yan would slaughter all of them.

A fireball of Fire Pellet Gu didn't have a wide range like the Moonlight Gu, but it had high penetrating power and a decent size. If it was a Rank 1 Fire Pellet Gu Gu, then the current Chi Yan could rather effortlessly form three to four fireballs at the same time. He would then send out this kind of combined attack like a shotgun round and kill any wolves that entered the doorstep.

If there was a wolf which kept rushing inside in a frenzy despite fatal wounds, Chi Yan would simply send out another wave of attacks.

Chi Yan already sent out around twenty fireballs, but his Primeval Sea was not changing at all, remaining at around 79%. The primeval essence cost of using Rank 1 Gu with Rank 2 cultivation was simply too low! He could keep sending them nonstop and he would not run out of primeval essence, actively recovering any primeval essence he spent.

Chi Yan's Rank 1 Fire Pellet Gu also had the power more than doubled due to the amplification of his physique, so it was enough to kill these crippled and old lightning wolves.

The wolves kept pouring in, sometimes in groups of two.

He roared inwardly and then explosively swept the fire snake across the room like a whip, burning apart all of the wolves that it struck in a single wave, also cutting and scratching the floor, the walls and the furniture.

In an instant five to six crippled lightning wolves died, while the building all over also caught fire where the fire snake struck.

Fortunately these were all weak, sick, old or disabled lightning wolves, some of them missing a tail, an ear or an eye, or even being completely blind. They were much slower and easier to deal with than healthy and energetic lightning wolves, unable to dodge such a skilled attack.

In the corner, the young mortal girl's eyes widened and she stared in shock at Chi Yan, hiding closely behind her father in the corner. Chi Yan was too strong! She didn't think that someone so gentle and kind would be so good at killing.

The truth was that he was very safe and already had a few back-up plans he thought of in advance.

Firstly, he still had Fire Cloak Gu. With Fire Cloak Gu he would be completely safe from the wolves and from the fire, while the wolves would only get hurt if they approached him.
