37 Cheap and Characterless

Dawei led them out of the containment unit,he planned on hiding them in his room,till his mother was safe and they could explain everything.

They were out of the division,their next stop was Dawei's room.

Liko was taken to a separate room,where he could get access to a computer.

"Why not tell my mother now before she leaves?"Dawei asked.

"We want to catch these traitors,and we might not get such a chance again. Considering how shrewish Angela is"Liko said.

"You are telling me to entrust the life of my mother into your hands?"Dawei asked uncertain he was doing the right thing.

"Yes,we will save her"Yu Yan said.

"You have to go,you have a plane to catch"Liko said,and Dawei nodded in affirmation.

She left,hoping that Liko could hack the systems database,know exactly the airplane to pick them up after the delivery.

Who made the arrangements,then change the plane,thereby keeping Angela safe,and the enemies captured.

"I know that the voice was a little familiar,I've heard it before, but where?"Chynna asked.

Lee thought, and had an idea.

She had to get out of the room and into hers.

"Everyone sent me a short clip for my last birthday,we can watch it,and you can trace the voice to its owner!"Lee said.

"We are outcasts,we cannot leave here"Chynna reminded her.

"Has that ever stopped you before?"Lee asked,and Chynna fell silent.

"But we better blend in"Chynna said,and opened Dawei's closet,she did have a soft spot for fashion designing.

Yu Yan boarded the plane.

Angela was busy on her tablet.

"No fur coats today"Yu Yan thought to herself.

"Where were you? I was thinking of taking off without you!"Angela said.

"Nowhere,I was just double checking to see if I left anything I might need"said Yu Yan.

"But you're with nothing"Angela pointed out.

"I decided that it would only weigh me down"Yu Yan said,as calm as she could be.

"Good thing you're back to your old self"Angela said.

The plane prepared for take off,Yu Yan only hoped that they were close to uncovering who the spies where.

Zi Tao decided to visit the club that morning,he needed to clear his head,after the Ru Shi incident.

Ru Ai was supposed to be there,but he turned out to be a no show,and Zi Tao hadn't laid eyes on Huang Xiao since morning.

He Riffled through some documents, absentmindedly,the place seemed calm,too calm.

He noticed when people came in they would steal a glance at him. And he deeply wondered what the heck was going on today.

"You!"Zi Tao said to a worker,the fearful man came up to him.

"What is going on here today? Why is everybody glancing at my direction?"Zi Tao asked,irritated.

"Sir...um...it's all..it's all..."the frightened worker tried to explain,but he was tongue tied.

"Spit it out!"Zi Tao demanded.

"Sir,you see...last night at the party..."The man said,trying not to starmmer.

The man took a huge gulp,and put on a bold face to speak up.

But nothing came out of his mouth,hence he decided to just show Mr Huang.

He brought his phone,and searched for the video and photos.

They were the new hot topic.

It didn't take him two secs to produce the footage,it popped up on his phone.

"Sir.."he said under his breath,but Zi Tao was not paying attention,he clenched his jaw,and threw the phone into the pool beside him.

"My..."The man said in shock.

But Zi Tao cut him off,by walking away,he had no idea how to feel,his reputation has been ruined!

"I warned that Ru Shi to stay away,but she refused"he thought while getting into his car.

He started the engine,"I'll make her suffer"he said,driving senselessly to the house.

*Meanwhile*

Ru Shi was still trying her best to try and recollect exactly what had happened,but it gave her a bad migraine,and the cold water did not help matters.

She had taken a hot shower,and changed clothes,but she was still shivering all over.

She decided to call in sick,she searched around for her phone, but she couldn't find it.

She went out of her room,to go ask the helps,she met her mother in law,looking dressed.

"My husband is coming home today...such a relief"Huang Yue said excitedly.

"Should I tell her about what happened or not?"Ru Shi thought, while she contemplated the issue,a loud thud stole hers and Huang Yue's attention.

A worried Huang Xiao.

He was out,he went to meet a friend to know if he could get that video off the internet.

But all to no avail,even if they did,which was impossible, too many people had the video already.

It was right next to impossible to get it off everyone's phone. He made his way to his sister in law.

Before he could say anything,his brother barged in and seized Ru Shi by the wrist.

"I will be the one to end you today"he said,while dragging her away,but he was stopped by the intervention of Huang Xiao.

Huang Yue simply watched from the sidelines.

She wanted to know how the story would unfold.

"Get out"Huang Zi Tao said,but his brother was determined,"I said get out you bastard!"Zi Tao said.

"Sugar..."but that attempt was futile,it only added fuel to the fire.

"I warned you not to meddle in my life,but you just refuse to let me be, I'll end you"Zi Tao said.

He raised his hand to her,but Huang Xiao stopped him.

"Don't you dare touch her,you made the mistake,now you must suffer from your actions"Huang Xiao said.

"I don't understand,what is going on?"Ru Shi asked,and pushed Huang Xiao away,and ran to her Sugar cookie.

"Please,tell me sugar cookie"Ru Shi said,only enraging him even more.

He whipped out his phone,and synced it to the television,he stood in front of the TV,his arms opened wide.

"Everybody,enjoy the show!"Zi Tao said,and Ru Shi almost fainted.

"What?"she asked,loosing her voice.

Huang Xiao looked away in regret,Huang Yue wore a fake shocked expression.

"This is the outcome of me living with such a despicable woman like her!"Zi Tao said.

Just then Huang Wei walked in,his assistant following behind,the scene he met,left him in consternation.

"Who did this! What is this!"he roared, everyone stopped and looked at him,Ru Shi felt a knot tie in her stomach.

Even Huang Yue felt uneasy,she rushed to him,shedding her crocodile tears.

"See,look what has happened!"she said,Huang Wei was engulfed in uncontrollable anger.

"Turn it off! Now!"he yelled,but he was too impatient,and threw a flower vase at the television,he threw much more items,angry,all he saw was red.

His anger calmed down the anger of Zi Tao.

"Is this the respect I get!"he yelled,and he walked up to his son.

"Tell me now,what is all this!"he demanded,Huang Xiao felt awful.

"I'll be a laughing Stock!"Huang Wei yelled.

"Huang Wei... it's not what..."Huang Xiao was trying to explain but Huang Wei held up his hand.

"You will shut up,and no one else will say anything,tell me now,Zi Tao what is all this?"he asked,his lips twitching.

"It's all her...she did all this...."Zi Tao said,and a slap landed,Ru Shi closed her eyes,when she opened them she saw Huang Xiao in front of her.

His face turned to the side,he had taken this also for her.

"Get out of my way"Huang Wei demanded,no one had anticipated that he would get violent.

Huang Yue quickly stepped in.

"Please calm down"Huang Yue said.

Ru Shi stood there,staring at her brother in law,she let out a tear,someone was hurt,someone she cared for.

Make no mistake,Ru Shi was not the nicest person on the planet,and not even classified as a good person.

But she was famous for sticking to her loved one,no matter what it took.

"How are we even sure that any of this is Ru Shi's fault?"Huang Yue asked,trying to divert their attention.

"What are you implying?"he angrily asked,Huang Yue breathed a sigh of relief,at least he was listening.

"Am just saying that whoever planned this would only do this to ruin our name"Huang Yue said.

"Go on"Huang Wei said,Zi Tao had taken interest in what his mother had to say.

"They might want to cause a rift between us,and as a family,we must not let them win.

Now what am saying is that we must all think of someone who would want to bring our family's name to shame"Huang Yue said.

And they all got to thinking.

"Nobody can just barge into my house"Huang Wei said.

"Exactly my point,that can only narrow our options down to someone who lives in this house"Huang Yue said.

And all of a sudden the tables had turned.

"Someone...like...Huang Xiao"she said.

Those words cut deep like a knife,it hurt Zi Tao, Ru Shi,Huang Wei,a little bit,and most especially Huang Xiao.

"You,dirty bastard?"Huang Wei said and grabbed his eldest son by his collar.

"How dare you!"he said,punching Huang Xiao,Zi Tao intervened and stopped his father.

"let's not jump to conclusions,what would he gain?"Ru Shi managed to ask.

"I didn't do it,I was surprised when the video played during my performance..."and he wished he could eat those words of his.

"Performance?"Huang Yue asked,pretending to have no clue on Huang Xiao and his secret job.

"You...You mean to tell me that you leaked this video?"Huang Wei asked.

"I should have known"Huang Yue said.

"It wasn't me,I would not gain anything by making my family suffer!"Huang Xiao said.

"Keep quiet,just don't lie!"Huang Yue said.

"You must have your motives,and I can point a few out for all of you"Huang Yue said.

"Huang Xiao has always disliked you,my husband,after all you never accepted him after he showed his true colours.

Infact,he even dislikes you,his own brother. He wants all you have,and of course,being rejected multiple times,he decided to ruin your own reputation."Huang Yue spat.

Zi Tao flashed back to when he and Huang Xiao were at the office,he was mean to his brother and that might have just pushed him to the wall.

But his rage didn't allow him to focus.

"Also...am sure he also wants to destroy our name,by making our daughter in law seem cheap and characterless! He knows that if anything happened to Ru Shi,we would all suffer."Huang Yue said.

"No, that's a lie! Stop lying!"Huang Xiao said,broken down and torn to pieces.

"Really,then prove me wrong."Huang Yue said,and Faced Zi Tao.

"What is the last thing you can remember before you passed out?"she asked,and it all came back slowly to him.

"Yes! You gave me a margarita, while trying to get me to go to the club"Huang Zi Tao said.

"See,that is what am trying to say"Huang Yue said.

"No,I don't believe that"Ru Shi said,much to the relief of Huang Xiao.

"Really? Then you explain how you winded up in my son's bedroom?"Huang Yue asked.

Ru Shi was still thinking.

"Yes, I was outside.."she said,her imagination hazy.

"And...I ..I...was carried away,because I was feeling a headache"she recalled.

Huang Wei was getting impatient,but he decided to listen.

"Yes...it...it..."

She had a flashback,and was able to recall the voice she heard,and she shuddered at her conclusion.

"Tell us now,who was it?"Huang Wei asked,tired of waiting,Zi Tao shook her, vigorously.

"Who is it?"he asked her,demanding an answer.

Ru Shi slipped out of his grip,much to his surprised,she walked to Huang Xiao,and stared at him,another tear fell from her eye.

"Don't cry..."he said sympathetically.

*Slap*

Huang Xiao's face turned at 180 degrees.

He brought his head back and she awarded him another tight slap.

Huang Yue tried to conceal her happiness.

"You have paid the price for your happiness"Huang Yue thought.

"How dare you!"Ru Shi yelled,much to the deterrent of Huang Xiao.

He watched her,her eyes fuming with rage,she looked away,not wanting to look at him.

"Ru.."he called out.

"Just keep quiet and don't say another word!"Ru Shi screamed,now she was angry,she was a force not to be reckoned with now.
