30 Sebastian's Song

As the boys went up to the other side of the club, Becky, Ali, and Suzy huddled closer and began to gush about what they should wear for Coachella. Fashion statements were a thing for the said event and they all looked at me with a judging stare.

"What?" I asked them, a piece of chip inside my mouth.

"Lizzie, you seriously need a make-over. What happened with your sudden shift in taste?" Suzy noted with a crinkle of her nose. "When I first saw you as I visited your dorm with Becky, I really thought dang, this girl so hot and edgy she might as well get every man to bow down and lick her toenails."

"What Suzy is trying to say here Liz, you are very pretty and the clothes you wear should be as well." Ali rolled her eyes at Suzy. "Suzy you are such a bitch with words you know?"

The boys had their back on us and proceeded to talk to the live band that was playing. The music stopped and eventually, they set up and propped themselves into positions while the other band got down.

Zeke grabbed the microphone and hyped up the crowd by saying, "Alright everyone, we are the Lovely Tainted Roses and tonight, we will sing to you a new song written by our lead guitarist, Sebastian Davis."

"Ohhh… I love it when Zeke sings." Becky drooled.

"Bitch, you love every piece and habit of the guy. Perhaps you love his sweaty underpants too." Suzy teased.

"Well, as a matter of fact, I do. For the record, I love his sweaty underpants especially when they are off." Becky professed to the girls and they laughed.

I blushed at the thought of Becky and Zeke doing whatever they did with his underpants off. I was glad for the dim lights in the club that it mostly hid my reactions. The young generation of this century is totally promiscuous.

"Hey Ali, could you play the keyboard for us?" Zeke called out and Ali gobbled her piece of pizza then sprinted towards the stage. Her small steps took her as fast as she could and Zeke whispered into her ear what keys she should play.

The crowds cheered and nothing beats the shouts of the girls that followed Bash awhile ago. Zeke had some fans calling for his name as well, while Nico and Levi had a number of admirers too in the club.

"They are pretty popular on the internet as an indie band. All of their songs are written by Bash." Becky explained to me.

"Their songs are nice, but I do have to say their popularity came also with how their band consisted of tall and handsome guys. Oh look, Levi is waving at us. Such a cutie." Suzy said.

"Bitch, you still going for Levi? He hasn't been pretty reactive to your advances." Becky laughed at her friend who rolled her pretty eyes.

"He will come through. No one can resist Suzanne Miller for too long." She raised a glass of wine to Becky and she giggled and clinked their glasses for a toast.

"Well go at it, girl. Levi is such a catch. You'd look good together."

I watched and listened as the crowds anticipated the start of the band's performance. The cheers gradually turned into a low hush and even the bartender at the mini bar stopped what he was doing.

"Alright everybody, this is going to be a love song and whoever has a lover here or just a one night fling, we hope you get to feel the love tonight and don't be fools." Zeke said and a chorus of whistles and giggles replied to him.

The lights had changed from upbeat disco flashes to a slow and warm glow. The spotlight was concentrated on the stage and Bash started to strum at his guitar. The electric tunes resounded in the four walls of the club.

His face was serious and he had his eyes closed as if feeling every vibration the guitar made with his strums.

Bass beats followed and I could see Nico bob his head to Bash's lead. Ali started to press keys and the melody of the song began to take form. Zeke closed his eyes as if lost in the moment then started to sing.

"Love you were sweet and innocent.

Your hands in mine in a fleeting moment of bliss,

The forest we ran and ran in circles and in eights.

Happiness was all we had to ever celebrate."

The deep tones of Zeke's voice was sweet like honey. Becky stared at him with loving eyes and I could see why she was attracted to the guy. He was divinely beautiful in the spotlight when he sang.

"Love I was blind and couldn't see,

How the world we were wasn't meant to be.

It wasn't yeah it really wasn't made for us and I fought so hard,

But you couldn't see, couldn't see for your sight was barred.

"Love you were sweet and innocent,

The kisses and caress we shared under the maple tree

We ran and ran in circles and in eights,

One lifetime wasn't enough for us to celebrate"

Levi's drums came in and the slow mellows of the song turned up to a steady fast pace. It felt like Zeke intentionally made people cry with the way he sang the song. It was emotional and his voice gave justice to the words that were written.

Bash was strumming and picking at his guitar with much expertise, he didn't need to even glance at his own hands as it worked its magic with the strings. Nico was chill at the sides and paced back and forth as the rhythm of the song reached its climax.

"Love we were blind and couldn't see,

How our world wasn't meant yeah wasn't meant for us to be.

It was wrong to have left you alone;

and the cost was pain for you to to bear on your own.

"It wasn't sweet and we weren't innocent,

Should there be a next life we could meet and try one more time.

I hope you hold on to the love we had and not the hurt,

Even though we aren't going to be the same again."

Everything stopped and the crowds were silent as well, they waited for what would come next and surprisingly, Bash reached for a microphone on a stand and continued the song alone - his guitar the only accompaniment.

"Love it was wrong and it was a shame,

If we could meet again sometime on a summer day.

I hope to see you and kiss you and tell you I was sorry,

I tried my best, love please know I had.

If we could meet again sometime after the spring day,

I hope to find the love we had, even we aren't the same back then."
