Out of the Picture

Concern was etched on Becky's face. It was evident that she didn't like Mr. Bernards' idea regarding the boys and their public image. I didn't notice it at first, but now that I was paying attention, Becky and Zeke weren't glued to each other the way they always do.

"What do you mean Mr. Bernards wants them to act as if they are bachelors?" I repeated, quite shocked that the old man demanded such a thing from the boys when he wasn't even thinking of seeing them to the end of their careers.

My hands turned to fist as anger rose up from inside of me. How dare he? The boys didn't deserve such treatment when all they ever wanted was to rise in the thing that they were passionate about.

"Well, that only means that he wants us girls out of the picture," Ali added with a bitterness in her voice, "Never did like that guy to be honest. I wonder how you girls liked his daughter as well."
