A Viper For A Sister-in-law

Ma Xin delicately dabbed at her eyes, to anyone looking she appeared fragile and very sad.

"Take good care of your health, Ms. Ma! We'll see ourselves out!"

The policemen folded the pad they took notes in and placed them in the pocket of their uniform.

"Thank you officers! You are such fine gentlemen! Every man out there should be like you!"

The hard exterior of the men cracked under such glowing praise from a high member of the society.

"Ms. Ma, we are only doing our jobs."

Ma Xin looked at the policemen and gave a shy smile back in response to what one of them said.

"We will be on our way!"

With one last look at the gorgeously dressed woman, the officers took their leave. Waving as they walked away to where their car was parked.

"Phew! I thought those stupid police would accuse me of having a hand in my sister-in-law's death! Not that they would have guessed wrong!"

Ma Xin watched as the flashing lights coming from the squad car pulled out of the driveway and out of the Ma mansion. The weak image that she presented to the police flew away in an instant to be replaced by a cruel expression.

"Ma Huiyan! May you rest in peace and remain that way! I hated that you married into the Ma family and yet you couldn't even give my brother a child! What use were you anyway!"
