Wes holds me in his arms and rocks me until I gather myself enough to think clearly. “I’d like to read your letters.” I need to know what I have missed out on.

“I want you to read them. I also want you to read my journal.” He removes the notebook from the box, and places it next to me on the bed. “Get comfortable and take your time. I have a few things I need to take care at the garage.”

He leaves me with a long, lingering kiss. I settle in the reading chair in the far corner of the room, get my reading glasses from my front pocket, and open the first letter.
