Chapter 1- Countryside
A small and simple wooden house standing apart from society laid on the countryside of China. Inside this simple house, a 19-year-old girl was sound asleep in a twin sized bed. Her hair was messily sprawled across her pillow and a bit of drool ran down her chin. One of her long legs hanged off the side of the bed while the other was underneath a thin blanket.
Suddenly, a woman came barging into the room, she was dressed head to toe in a black suit, looking sophisticated and classy. A stark contrast to the lazy and carefree appearance of the sleeping girl.
"Miss Xing, please wake up. There is urgent news from the CEO."
As if she didn't hear the woman's sentence at all, the girl referred to as Miss Xing turned the other way and covered her head with the blanket.
"Please, Miss Xing! Wake up!"
The now half asleep girl took a pillow and covered her ears in an attempt to tune out the poor woman.
"Five more minutes Secretary Li."
The girl's muffled voice laced with drowsiness entered Secretary Li's ears as she let out an exasperated sigh. Seconds later, footsteps could be heard leaving the room. The only thing left was the slight snoring of a sleeping girl.
After three hours of waiting outside of the room, Secretary Li finally saw the figure of the person who's been constantly giving her trouble. Dressed in blue and white striped pajama shorts and an oversized white t-shirt, the girl couldn't be bothered to change as she passed Secretary Li and went into the Kitchen to fill up a cup of water. With the cup of water in hand, the girl sat down leisurely on a pristine white couch.
Secretary Li looked at the sitting girl with exasperation on her face, but what could she do? This girl was not only the CEO's younger sister but was also the famous idol that suddenly disappeared after rising to fame two years ago. However, seeing the girl now, you would never associate her with being the classy and lovable idol that everyone admired from two years back.
Seeing the girl finish gulping down her water, Secretary Li decided to finally confront Xing Yuqi.
"Miss Xing, please understand that I'm only trying to do my job. The CEO ordered me to come here and retrieve you. Please come back, don't you think two years is enough for your grudge with the CEO to be dissolved? "
"Grudge?" Xing Yuqi looked over at Secretary Li with a genuinely confused gaze, "What grudge? I don't remember having a grudge with that pesky older brother of mine."
Secretary Li looked at the girl with a perplexed expression.
"Then why have you been living in the countryside for two years and cutting off all contact with the CEO?"
Realization dawned on Yuqi's face and she looked at Secretary Li as if she was looking at a naive child.
"Pfft, isn't it just because I wanted to sleep all day with no one to disturb me? How come it suddenly became 'holding a grudge' through your mouth?"
Yuqi watched in awe as Secretary Li's face turned from black to blue and finally settled in a shade of red.
"Miss Xing! You mean to say that I have been coming here weekly for two years in the place of the CEO to beg for you to forgive him, and you haven't been mad at all?!"
A sheepish smile crept up onto Yuqi's face.
"Yep, that's right. Do I look like the type of person who would hold a silly grudge for so long? I'm such a magnanimous and caring person, why would I care about something that happened so far in the past."
Secretary Li took several deep breaths and when she finally calmed her emotions she looked at Yuqi with desperation on her face.
"No, not at all Miss Xing, you are so magnanimous, you would never hold such a petty grudge...But, please explain how come you never told me in the past that you were never mad at the CEO?"
"Isn't it because you didn't ask."
Yuqi feigned ignorance as she sat back and enjoyed Secretary Li's face changing several more shades of colors.
"Yes, yes that's right" Secretary Li muttered under her breath while chuckling a little hysterically. After ten seconds passed, Secretary Li seemed to come back to her senses as she immediately stopped chuckling.
"Ahem, well then Miss Xing, would you please come back with me to B city? After your disappearance, the CEO hasn't been the same and has become extremely strict with the staff members. He forces us to work overtime and becomes extremely moody during meetings. Besides that, even after two years, your fans are still rioting outside of the company's building demanding to know where you've been."
Xing Yuqi stood up from the couch and stretched her hands above her head while yawning. She turned around, with her back facing Secretary Li and began walking away.
Secretary Li looked at the ground dejectedly as she saw the girl's figure walking slowly back into her bedroom.
However, the next thing that came out of Yuqi's mouth sparked hope in Secretary Li's heart.
"Hmm come find me in two weeks and maybe I'll come back with you. Besides, I haven't seen my brother in a while."
After hearing what Yuqi said, Secretary Li's eyes shone brightly as her head sprung up to see Yuqi's disappearing figure.
She quickly shouted, "Yes, Miss Xing!" towards the direction the girl left in. With a bounce in her step, Secretary Li headed to her car and immediately called the CEO.
