7 7. The evenining adventure

So as they were entering the wildness, they decide to yield Tomas the firsts beasts they found to make sure Tomas gets used to fight with a spear and to give him a try with the bow.

It wasn't until the 10th beast that they began to take turns dealing with them as they saw Tomas completely exhausted as he was starting to have a hang in wielding the spear.

Mike: 'Only 10 beasts and you are completely spent?' said in a teasing tone

Tomas: 'How can you have so much stamina? It's exhausting to hunt without stopping once, you're madmen!'

Zack: 'If you were more fit you would have more energy to spare. Keep in mind that when we start clearing dungeons we have to do 30 floors in a day.'

Tomas: 'Oh, don't mention it. I don't think I would be able to keep up with your rhythm even in weeks!' said sad and exhausted

Mike: 'Don't worry, although a fit body is better you should improve in a few days if you start cultivating. In the end the foundation phase is about improving the body with the mana's help.'

Tomas: 'That would be godsend! But, is easy to start detecting mana?'

Zack: 'I suppose we will find out tonight.'

Mike: 'Don't worry so much. It said in the specifications of the apartments, that the ones that are bigger are built in order to be easier to perceive mana. I suppose that's why there are fewer in number.'

Zack: 'Then we might have hit the jackpot getting our apartment.'

Mike: 'I guess so. Look we arrived at the river.'

Zack: 'Let's see what new materials we can find in the riverside!' as he got a sprint to the riverside to start searching

Mike: 'Why are you so impatient?' said amused

Zack: 'But is said the pearls are beautiful, and here there will be new ones. I'm looking forward to find them!' as he put the hand inside the river to start looking for pearls

Tomas: 'I guess my girlfriend Mary would love to have as much as I can found when we return.'

Mike: 'I really forgot how obsessed she is with them. She would do anything in order to have a new type of pearl.'

Tomas: 'Yes, don't mention it. Is quite the headache to keep up with her when she starts speaking of them' said in a exasperate tone

Zack: 'Hey I found them! Look they are sparkling!' said with a smile from ear to ear

Mike: 'You really like them do you? If you really like them that much why don't specialize in jewellery instead of alchemist and tailor that you said before?'

Zack: 'I don't think so, to make jewellery is a branch of blacksmithing. And although you can do without it, I prefer you make them for me!' said in a cheeky tone

Mike: 'Then not complain if you don't like them afterwards' said in a proud smile

Zack: 'Of course I will complain as you would be able to improve doing different designs.' Said in a more proud smile

Mike: As his smile froze midway. 'I don't know what to do with you since you regained your confidence.' Said in a happy and relieved smile as he remembered how insecure he was when he first met him as he was like a scared small animal.

Tomas: 'You do really get along.' Said in a complaining tone

Mike: 'Don't get moody so easily, remember Mary would kill you if you damage any of the pearls when she sees the jewellery you will be making.'

Tomas: 'That's why I decided I will leave the jewellery for her and specialize in carpentry and if I got time a little of tailoring as I can try to make something combining them, like a jewellery box so Mary won't complain at how to keep them safe.'

Mike: 'You really start getting intelligent' in a surprised tone

Tomas: 'When was I not intelligent?' in a proud mood

Mike: 'Then why I found you arguing your heart out for a misery of materials this morning.'

Tomas: 'Well I guess I learned my lesson there. By the way, are we getting new teammates for the dungeon dive?'

Zack: 'I guess it would be nice to start thinking about the prerequisites for them to team up with us. As we will need more people for the dungeons dive, contrary, in the wildness we three are just enough to cope with anything.'

Mike: 'Good point, but we should start fishing before it starts getting dark.' As he took out his spear for it.

Zack: 'Then let's try it out, it shouldn't be that difficult after practising in the fisher workshop.' As he took the spear out as well.

Tomas: 'If you also chose the spear, why didn't you fight with it up till now?'

Mike: 'Because we didn't choose it as a main weapon but as a secondary one, because it would be a nightmare to try fighting in water with a machete or a short sword. A spear is a better option and you can also throw it as a javelin to take down a flying beast without learning archery for it. The spear is the most versatile weapon I have knowledge of, but its downsides are also evident in that is a long weapon and not a close one.'

Zack: 'I got the first fish! Look its scales I will be enjoying making armour with it!'

Mike: 'So are you planning to stitch it in a t-shirt to make that armour?'

Zack: 'I guess so, it would be a lot of fun!'

Tomas: 'You can make armour with it? I thought armour would be made of metal.'

Mike: 'It would if you want your movements restricted and going around with a few extra kilos.'

Tomas: 'I don't think I would have a metal one then. I got exhausted fighting 10 beasts in succession and I wasn't wearing any extra load this time around. If I have to add a few kilos in top of it I would get exhausted before I start fighting. By the way, can fish scales really stop weapons made of metal?'

Zack: 'It should if you choose the stronger ones as some are even difficult to pierce with the spear because of them. So if they can stop a spear for the fishes, it should be okay to use them as armour for us.'

So they had a fun evening fishing in the river and searching for aquatic resources.

As it was starting to get dark:

Mike: 'Should we start going back before it gets completely dark?'

Zack: 'Yeah, it would be a good idea.'

Tomas: 'Don't you listen to a girl crying?'

Zack: 'Now that you mention it, but I also can hear someone shouting and they seem to be arguing.'

Tomas: 'Let's go have a look, it's near and I won't be able to sleep knowing that something might happen if we can prevent it from escalating.'

Mike: 'You really are too good natured. Well we won't lose anything having a look and I think I recognize some voices.'

Zack: 'You know them?'

Mike: 'You will see when we arrive.'

So they went in the shouting direction and got amused at who they saw, as it was Lucas and Sarah together with two more boys with them as well as two girls in the opposite side of their argument. One of the girls was in the floor as it seems she was hurt and the second girl was defending her.

Claudia: 'Why can you not help Carla to return? She got hurt because of your girlfriend got careless.'

Lucas: 'What got this anything to do with Sarah if she decided to put herself in front? Sarah might have not got hurt anyway without your interference. Carla stole Sarah's prey so why should we help her return. If you can't accept it, you can carry her back. But we won't help you if you got attacked in the way back.'

Carla: 'How can you be so selfish?'

Zack: 'Why each time we see you, you are arguing about something and you are always in the wrong?'

Mike: 'And two times in a day, no less.'

Tomas: 'And I thought I wouldn't see you again, at least not in the same day.'

Lucas: 'You again? Are you going to meddle again this time around?'

Mike: 'Lucky you, not this time. We don't know them. But I don't think it would be a nice idea to leave them to die here when it won't be much effort to accompany them until the dormitories front door.'

Lucas: 'Then all yours. We are leaving.' In annoyed tone

Sarah: 'Lucky you. Next time you won't have this luck.' In a sarcastic tone

Claudia: 'Don't worry, we won't team up with you again.' In a confident tone.

Sarah: 'Che!' Said in a displeased tone as she left with Lucas the other 2 members.

Carla: 'Thank you for helping out.'

Zack: 'Don't mention it, we were already displeased with them. Let me look at your wound.' He took the water sack to disinfect the wound and afterwards put a paste he create with herbs into the wound and started healing at a magical speed.

Claudia: 'How did you do that or did you buy it?'

Zack: 'I made it, it's one of the simplest recipes of the herbalism skill.'

Carla: 'Are jobs that important?'

Mike: 'In certain cases, yes. But the most important ones to have are the ones in the Must list in the workshops. In spite of that, to level the Link up you would need 10 skills, and the Must list has just 10. The problem with the jobs is that if you didn't learned the job and you do something that could get you more experience in it, it won't count. So you better learn as much possible skills as you can and afterwards you can decide in which you would like to focus on.'

Claudia: 'Is that true? Then first thing next morning I'm going to learn as much skills as I can.'

Carla: 'Me too, I might not be able to fight tomorrow so it would be a nice idea.'

Zack: 'Actually you will be able to walk like normal in a few minutes, but as its getting dark we should start get going.'

Tomas: 'I will carry you, I won't be of much help fighting with so few light.'

Mike: 'But try to keep up.' As he helped Carla in Tomas back and they start going back.

Claudia: 'So why you know them?'

Mike: 'Oh that, let's say that Tomas is quite the trusting one so he didn't make a contract when they decided to go to the wildness for the first time. And when we find him he was discussing with them about the loot because Sarah decided change his part from the one it was decided was Tomas'. Lucas as the leader approved it and the other three members were shouting as well for getting less loot as they felt they contributed for. So we helped Tomas out of it.'

Carla: 'You don't seem the meddlesome type, so why did you help?'

Zack: 'Did you not listen that we helped Tomas and not the other three?'

Claudia: 'So you knew Tomas beforehand?'

Zack: 'Me not, but he's Mike's friend.'

Tomas: 'We are friends since kids.'

Mike: 'But you were quite carless there this morning.'

Tomas: 'Can you stop mentioning it. I already learned my lesson of not trusting people that easily.'

Zack: 'I don't think so, as soon as you heart a scream and someone arguing from afar you didn't even think before asking to go there to help and meddle in other people business.'

Claudia: 'Well thanks to that we got a way out of it more easily. But I agree that if your first thought is going to help, you are quite careless.'

Carla: 'Yes, like this you might one day put your friends in danger. So in the end why did you decide to come?'

Tomas: 'Wasn't because I asked?'

Mike: 'Of course not, I'm not giving in to your hero tendencies. It was because we needed to pass near to go back and better see what is happening that being alert all the time for an instable factor.'

Zack: 'Better keep track of what is happening in your surroundings than bump into something unexpected because you didn't go to take a look.'

Claudia: 'That's a better reason. At least not Tomas impulsive one.'

Tomas: 'Was I that impulsive?'

Mike: 'Yes, you were. But at least you asked before you acted.'

...

As they arrived in front of the dormitories:

Zack: 'So in which floor we have to carry you?' As they were walking through the dormitories entrance.

Carla: 'I'm staying in the third floor with Claudia.'

Tomas: 'Thank goodness it's only 3 floors I have to carry you. Since there isn't an elevator we have to go walking and it's quite the pain going up the stairs.'

Claudia: 'Thankfully we were from the first batch of people getting a room.'

Mike: 'Then you didn't quite have a good choice as the really good rooms are from the 5th floor to the 10th.'

Carla: 'Why you say they are the better rooms?'

Zack: 'Because the rooms are bigger, but at this hour they should have already been occupied long ago. At least you have a room in the firsts floors.'

Claudia: 'It's really true?'

Tomas: 'Yes, we are in the 5th and 6th floor and from what you describe I have a bigger apartment than yours while mine is an individual one. The double room of Mike and Zack should be even bigger.'

Carla: 'I guess we should have looked at the rest of the rooms in the floors upstairs before deciding ours. Well can we exchange contacts?'

Tomas: 'Sure, if you need to ask something just send a message.'

Mike: 'And remember to start cultivating before going to sleep.'

Zack: 'Good night.'

Carla & Claudia: 'Good night.' As they entered their apartment.

Tomas: 'So what are we doing tomorrow?'

Mike: 'I guess we should get the rest of the jobs and we can go to the wildness again in the evening till the afternoon.'

Zack: 'Are we going to consider the two girls as candidates for dungeon diving?'

Mike: 'They said they will go to the workshops tomorrow, so I guess we will find them there. If they ask we can consider, but they seem like the ones who prefer going at a slower pace.'

Zack: 'I guess that's fine too.'

Tomas: 'Then until tomorrow, I'm in the next floor.'

Mike: 'Remember to cultivate and start reading the books in the library.'

Tomas: 'I won't forget, bye.'

Mike & Zack: 'Bye, bye.' As they left to their apartment.
