5 5. Workshops

So we finally entered the workshops and the first thing we saw was a poster with 3 lists: Must, Basic, Advanced.

Zack: 'So what is this list? How come you didn't talk about it in the past? Why the separation? Is it for something?'

Mike: 'Well, the conditions for the 2nd level of Link are different. Besides, levelling up Link in here are quite harder that outside. Do you remember what you had to do?'

Zack: 'Yes, to level 1 we needed the first stage of foundation, completing the 5th floor of a dungeon and 1 game won. To level 2 we needed the first stage of element awakening, 3 professions' skills and 5 games. I don't remember the next as I didn't have the time while we were escaping from the Sharkdokin.'

Mike: 'Right you barely arrived at the 2nd level, while I was at the 3rd. So in here is a bit different and more difficult. So we will need to arrive to the 1st stage of the element awakening, 5 games, get to the end of 10 different dungeons and have the 10 must skills professions.'

Zack: 'Wow, we have to do so many things to level Link to 2? I nearly miss it out. By the way, it was a recognized fact that a dungeon doesn't have an end, so how many floors is the end?'

Mike: 'The reason to do it so difficult to level 2 is so they want to get assured that the Pioneers of each planet is completely competent in this new world, and being able to get the level 1 as a gift at the beginning is to make an excuse to make harder the next ones.

The reason I didn't tell you is so you didn't get discouraged at the beginning as you weren't in a right state of mind.

About the dungeons at level 1 in Earth they have 500 floors, thankfully the ones here only have 30 floors and every 10 floors there is a boss room instead of a huge floor.

And about this list, did you see the first quest about professions?'

Zack: He got touched for thinking Mike did so much for him, afterwards he got relived at hearing the amount of dungeon floors, and finally he got confused about his last question.

'I only look up the gathering quests as I thought we wouldn't need the profession quests till we got them.'

Mike: 'It's true that the majority of quests there are for specific professions but before there are 9 about obtaining certain amount of professions:

QUESTS PROFESSIONS:

1_Obtaining all the must list of professions: 1.000 coins

2_Obtaining all the basic list of professions: 10.000 coins & 1 lv.2 space gem.

3_Obtaining 25 skills of professions: 1 million (1.000.000) coins & all 25 professions lv.1 equipment. If you do more you can only add the profession equipment.

4_Get all the alchemist related jobs (all skills in the alchemist skill tree) to 99% exp: 1.000 coins & lv.2 equipment.

5_Get all the blacksmith related jobs (all skills in the blacksmith skill tree) to 99% exp: 1.000 coins & lv.2 equipment.

6_Get all the carpenter related jobs (all skills in the carpenter skill tree) to 99% exp: 1.000 coins & lv.2 equipment.

7_Get all the tailor related jobs (all skills in the tailor skill tree) to 99% exp: 1.000 coins & lv.2 equipment.

8_Get all the Chef related jobs (all skills in the chef skill tree) to 99% exp: 1.000 coins & lv.2 equipment.

9_Get all the Artist related jobs (all skills in the artist skill tree) to 99% exp: 1.000 coins & lv.2 equipment.

10_Get a skill 1star: 10.000 coins for profession

11_Get a skill 2stars: 100.000 coins for profession

12_Get a skill 3stars: 1.000.000coins for profession

13_Get a skill 4stars: 10.000.000coins for profession

14_Get a skill 5stars (max): 100.000.000coins for profession

*Quest 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9: If you complete more than 1 you obtain 1.000 extra coins for the next one.

So I think it would be a good idea to complete quests 1, 2 & 3 and 2 of the ones with lv.2 equipment. If we have more time of what we expected we can try to do more, but to upgrade Link to level 2 we have already a lot to do.

If we have extra time we can try quest 10 as we only have to obtain the 1% extra to obtain 1 star. But if I remember correctly, is the hardest to obtain, as you have to be able to use the skill to certain degree of precision to be able to accomplish it without failing once in 50 times.'

Zack: 'That's a good plan, so we start with the 9 Must skills. So where we start? Herbalist, miner, woodcutter, butcher, sailor, fisher, hunter, camper, beast rider or first-aid?'

Mike: 'It's nearing lunch time so how about we start with butcher and we keep the rest for later. Afterwards we should go to the basic chef profession so we can eat.'

Zack: 'I'm totally in favour. First butcher, second chef, third lunch and afterwards we can start acquiring them one by one. First is the stomach! I'm totally hungry!!!'

Mike: 'So let's go before all the butcher equipment gets occupied.'

As soon as they arrived at the butcher workshop:

Zack: 'So why is so empty?'

Mike: 'Remember, are there a very few with a weapon this morning? In the afternoon it will start to pack up, and in the evening there will be a long line to acquire the skill. Thankfully we have a butcher station in our apartment, so we will only need to acquire the skill.'

Zack: 'Since we have all the place to ourselves, how about cutting and deboning all the beasts we have so we will not need to enter today again?'

Mike: 'That's okay, we shouldn't take a lot of time for the 10 beasts we both each have.'

So in half an hour they acquired the butcher skill and maxed out the inland and flying beasts only waiting to go fishing to max the skill at 0 stars. Afterwards they went to the kitchen to acquire the chef job and make some lunch. While making lunch Mike received a message from Tomas that asked in which workshop are were in, so he went to the entrance of the kitchen as it was now packed of people cooking for lunch and asked him to come to the kitchen.

Mike: As soon as I got to see Tomas in the distance I got relived that he could manage alone. 'Tomas here!'

Tomas: 'So you are already making lunch?'

Mike: 'Yes, we went quite quickly in the butcher workshop. So in which floor did you manage to get a room from?'

Tomas: 'I was in luck and managed to have the last single room in the 6th floor! I guess the majority didn't look door for door to make sure there is still an empty room and went directly to the next floor to try luck.'

Mike: 'Well you are quite in luck then. Let's go and take advantage and get the chef job while you can.'

Tomas: 'Are you sure? I might get the lunch charred.'

Mike: 'Sure thing, you need the job as is one of the basic list so you need it for the second quest of the professions list. So you better get a single plate in acceptable range to get the job, and afterwards if you want you can drop it for all I care.'

Tomas: 'Sure, so with which ingredients?'

Zack: 'Well we cannot eat 20 beast between the 3 of us, and meat is one of the few things that if you don't eat it becomes waste, since you cannot sell it or use it for anything else than cooking.'

Tomas: 'Then I won't be polite and use quite a few of it.'

Mike: 'It will probably be a lot of meat to make a plate accepted for the system.'

Tomas: 'Don't jinx me before trying.' Said crying without tears.

So in the end, Zack and Mike finished quite earlier than Tomas as he wasted more than half of the meat to finally make a decent meal to get the job. After finishing they went to the place where they were summoned since after the voice ended the place transformed into a park with various camping tables and benches as well as some grassed expanse where you can sit and relax.

They got lucky to get one of the lasts camping tables as there where a lot of people having lunch.

Tomas: 'So what have you prepared to do this afternoon?'

Mike: 'We thought to complete the Must list of skills, and nearing evening going to the river to fish and acquire some of the aquatic resources.'

Zack: 'If we complete the Must list we will be able to finish the first job quest. It would be nice to do the Basic list too, but it would be too much and we want to go fishing.'

Tomas: 'It would be nice fishing since we could complete more materials resources in the way.'

Mike: 'And it would be a nice way to relax after all that happened. So Tomas have you had time to look through Link's apps after choosing an apartment?'

Tomas: 'Not yet. So what I have to take note of?'

Zack: 'This night it would be a nice time to read the basic knowledge library, the cultivation part and the weapons basics of the ones you bought.'

Mike: 'But for now you better start with the status and quests apps. When we go outside the map would also be a good option.'

Zack: 'You have to keep track of the amount of coins you have and the prices in the store. You also have a notebook to take note of whatever you need.'

Mike: 'Organize your storage in boxes, so you can find the things you need afterwards. And starting to know how to make a contract and an exchange through the storage would be a nice idea.'

Tomas: 'Hey, that's a lot to take in. And what is this about cultivation?'

Zack: 'Just like it sounds. To use mana to strengthen ourselves, the first phase is foundation and you strengthen the muscles and skin and afterwards the bones and tendons. In theory we have two stages more before the element awakening but as this is a virtual reality and we are not in our bodies we can skip up a few steps.'

Mike: 'Yes, the priority here is to learn how to fight, get as many materials as we can and learn the jobs we want more in depth so we can have a head start when we return.'

Tomas: 'So is like a beta test in a game but we can keep materials we collect and jobs skills we learn?'

Mike: 'Yes, but I don't know if we keep the experience of the jobs skills, as well as the records in dungeons and games or not.'

Tomas: 'Now that change my priorities. I'm going to try as many jobs skills as I can to know what I want to develop in.'

Mike: 'It would be a good idea to get all the skills on the must and basic lists as well as the jobs in the basic list that lets you open its skills tree. The skills in the extra list are the ones inside its skills tree for lv.1.'

Tomas: 'So what are just skills and what is job that opens its skill tree?'

Mike: 'The must list are all independent skills but you can also adquire them inside of the skills tree but you don't need its jobs to do so, and that's why are independent. The basic list have scout, merchant and video-maker as independent skills that don't fall inside of any of the skills trees. And about the rest of the basic list is to unlock their respective skill tree: alchemist, carpenter, blacksmith, chef, tailor and artist.'

Zack: 'And that is the reason we made you do the chef quest as is the only way to unlock its skill tree. And you'll need it if you want unlock any of its skills later on.'

Tomas: 'Well, I don't think I would need any chef related skills.'

Mike: 'That's where you are wrong. At the level 2 skills there is a tamer skill you'd love to have.'

Tomas: 'Tamer is a chef skill?? Are you kidding?'

Zack: 'No, we aren't. So as you never know what kind of skills you'd find in later levels is better to unlock the 6 jobs so we don't miss any.'

Tomas: 'I really will need to read all I can from the library this night and make a plan for our next days so I don't miss anything.'

Mike: 'That's a good plan for which you might find useful the Link notebook app, if not you can always buy paper and pen in the light tower shop.'

Tomas: 'Thanks!'
