2 Later On

As time passed by, the Uzumaki girl's cries finally stopped as all the emotions had automatically placed her into a deep sleep and was now being carried by her big brother on his back as they headed back towards the survivor's camp. A camp locally dubbed as "Tent city", a temporary home for the survivors before they go on with the next step of the plan.

A conversation had also been carried out as they traverse through the silent and windy forest.

"So what do you want to tell me about Kurama-chan?" Boruto asked, as he was carrying his little sister on his back.

Kurama kept his head down for awhile, for little while, he can't bring himself to speak about the events that had transpired before. He just can't explain it all in one go.

Boruto sighed but nodded in understanding." It's alright, you can tell me all those these slowly." He said, as he was also encouraging the small fox to speak up and tell him the story.

Kurama took a deep breath, as he after a few moments of pep talking himself, he finally gained the courage to speak up." W-Well, I-I apologized for not doing my best to protect you guys." He said, as there was nervousness in his voice.

"It was my job to keep The Kit alive, and I failed to do that the only thing that I've been doing for many years." He explained." No matter, how many times, I pleaded with him to never released me, he still did." He added, he would go on to explained that Naruto had instructed the latter to escape and protect Himawari and Hinata.

"It was my fault that I continued to stay hard headed and argued with him." Kurama continued as he kept his head down." Not knowing that I wasted much time that when I arrived there, I was too late." He said, with guilt and regret in his voice. The memory was still fresh in his mind when found out that he was too late to protect them as Hinata had already sacrificed her life and shielded Himawari from the enemy's attack.

The last image he saw was that of dying Hinata embracing and comforting an unconscious Himawari.

Kurama cringed as he didn't want to replay that moment. The guilt was pretty much overwhelming, and he didn't want to continue, so he stopped his story right there.

Boruto could only sympathized with the fox, He too has many faults during that time." You don't have to blame yourself for that." He said." I'm also guilty for not arriving in the village on time and because I focused much on fighting Kawaki that all of them were left in a position where they have to defend themselves." He said, referring to his loved ones, especially his mom, who gave her life and little sister, who almost died because of his absence.

"You're a good big brother, Boruto." Kurama replied, as he gave the blonde small smile."You've done your part, if they were here, they would be so proud of your for staying strong."He added." As much as we want to bring them back, we can't."

Boruto nodded in understanding." I know." He said as they finally reached the end of the forest.

The sun was in its full glory by the time, the three had gotten out of the forest. They found themselves currently on a small cliff which had a good overview of the vast fields of the countryside.

Alongside with them was hope that continued to grow after slide of guilt amd wind grew stronger at the same time, and there was mysterious presence that continued comfort the three, meaning that won't be alone on this new chapter of their lives.

"It doesn't matter on what we want or our wishes right now." Boruto spoke." What matters is that we need to be strong for Hima-chan from now on." He said, as he observed his view of the countryside.

I will do whatever it takes to protect her." He added.

Kurama kept silent but nodded in understanding. He turned his head towards the siblings, He promised to himself that he will never again fail to protect them and he was also doing this for Naruto and Hinata.

Both of them sighed in relief for the first time. The two continued to observed the view in front of them as the sun shined upon their faces. Both also had the same goal right now, to start a new chapter in life and continue on from here.

Indeed all of these past hardships are finally over, It was time for them face the reality of surviving and rebuilding their lives again.

It was going to be their reality from now on and the countless years without
