1 They arrive

In the year 2123, the earth learned the worst kept secret, was no longer a secret. Not only did aliens exist, but they were also here. A race, The Levar, appeared around Earth. There was no government conspiracy about their arrival, probably due to them being so close anyone with a telescope could see them. They arrived on three different ships, they never hovered over any of the main cities, they merely waited in space.

The Levar had "come in peace". They were short very human-like creatures. They looked remarkably childlike and even spoke in soft gentle voices. They were traders, and during their first received messages they asked to trade certain resources we had in abundance. Many governments felt they would easily profit so they traded for serums to enhance our bodies and minds, nanotech, and even gene computer assistants. It was an amazing time for mankind - until some of us noticed the very subtle changes to our gene code.

The birth-rate slowed down, nothing alarming, unless you happened to be a scientist researching the effects of all the above-mentioned benefits.

David Bater was not anti the aliens per se, it was just he had a natural mistrust for everyone. At 49 years old he had learned the benefits of always mistrusting people, it meant you could say you were right allot.

David had found no issues with the benefits the aliens had traded, even to the point of trying the gene computer assistant himself, for the sake of science.

David had reported his finding, and they had been verified, but there was little anyone could do. Something was in everything we ate, everything we drank, and it was ensuring that very slowly, we would be unable to conceive.

When it was brought to the attention of the Levar by the world council, the response was a very half-hearted promise to do all in their power to investigate it. They were making humanity extinct, and now, there was nothing we could do about it.

The Levar had not shared any technology related to space travel; it made more sense now. Their aim was to prevent humanity from seeking aid amongst the stars, verifying that this had always been their goal.

A meeting of the brightest minds was called, various ideas were suggested, the only thing they could agree on, was to not let the public know as it would lead to mass hysteria.

Governments sponsored the production of intelligence enhancing gene serums to encourage further research into any field that might aid in solving the conception issue.

David saw this as an opportunity to not only help but to also focus on a field previously never really seen as financially viable. Now though money was not much of an issue if it had a chance to succeed. Therefore, David was attempting to create a portal for long-range transportation originally but as he put more time into it, he felt it would be something he could not complete within his lifetime, therefore he focused on a differing approach. Finding another vibrational plane that might be able to help them, anything was worth a try. He started with a viewer, being able to bring anything into view would mean the project had potential, if he could at least see another location, he might be able to link to it.

6 years into his new line of research he gained static, not normal static. It was like there were shapes within the static, but horrible distorted. 3 years after that he could swear, he saw the distorted view of a rodent, an exceptionally large one, running up an impossibly large tree. It was at this point he decided to record all the events the viewer showed.
