2 Geography

"...et's explore the wo..."

My eyes shoot open and I start breathing heavily. After calming down a bit, I let out a sigh before muttering to myself,

"Why do I get the same nightmare every day."

I rest on my bed for 5 more minutes before unwillingly getting off my bed. After completing my daily routine, I leave my room as I scour my room to make sure I hid my alcohol properly. Outside my room, I take my meds as I observe my surroundings. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, I head towards my class.

Once again, I sit at the front of the class by myself. I look around the classroom to make sure the girl and boy from yesterday are not in the same class as me so that my peace and quiet won't be disturbed. After confirming that no one annoying seems to be in my class, I begin to doodle. As I was doodling, I noticed the loud clamoring in the room seemed to have subsided so I raised my head to look at the front of the class, expecting the professor to be there. Instead, I only see an empty podium, so I instead looked around the room to see why everyone was quiet.

At the entrance into the lecture hall, I noticed a pair of elves, one male and the other female. Both with long white hair and golden eyes. Their facial features are sharp, and their height both around 5 feet 10 inches, but their more notable feature is their long ears. Although both the elves were gorgeous, the real reason why everyone was quiet is because no one in the room has seen an elf before because of how elusive and secluded they are. Staring at them for a few seconds, I lose interest and return to doodling. Soon the room became loud again, but for some reason it was unnaturally loud to the left of me. It seems like the elves sat in the front rows as well, luckily they sat a few seats away from me.

As I am finishing my drawing of a tiger, the professor entered the room. The room quietens and only the noise of the professor's heels clicking against the ground is heard. Looking at the professor, I see a middle-aged woman, probably in her late 30's, walk up to the podium. The professor has long luscious blonde hair, sea-green eyes and seems to be around 5 feet 8 inches tall.

"Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful first week at the university. You can call me Dr.Riley. I will be teaching you guys the general geography of the world. You may be wondering why you are learning this in university, well there is a good answer for that. It is simple, it is because this way you will know where to go in the future when you need ingredients for an example or for new battle gear. This is also an intro class for those in the Magic Research Stream. Don't worry, although the beginning of the course contains basic knowledge from high school, we go into depth later on in the course."

Dr.Riley turns around and starts drawing on the chalkboard, everyone around me started pulling out their notebooks. She draws a rectangle on the board and started drawing lines inside the rectangle. Soon, a replica of the world map was drawn. Dr.Riley started speaking,

"Here, in the middle of the map is the central continent. In it, there are 3 major empires and 2 kingdoms. On the south is the Daruvian Empire, where the Golden Fox Academy resides, and the Wilup Kingdom. As many of you probably know, the Wilup kingdom is a subsidiary kingdom of the Daruvian Empire which is known as the holy land of magic. To the north is the Langresse Forests, also known as the land of the Elf Kingdom. Although they are one of the smallest kingdoms, it is one of the strongest out there, on par with empires and dynasties. To the east, there is the Beldom Empire, the land of the intelligent monster races such as the orcs, dragons, ogres, etc. They are also the strongest empire in the world. To the west is the Pelis Empire, the merchant empire, the empire with the most gold."

From behind me, a classmate asked a question,

"What about the center, isn't that where the Silver Silk Roads are?"

The teacher circled the location of the Silver Silk Roads and turned around to say,

"Yes, that is where the Silver Silk Roads are. The center is currently unclaimed land, but there are locations protected by each empire because of how important the SIlver Silk Roads are. The Mithril Wars occurred because the largest deposit of Mithril in the world was found in the center and each empire wanted to own the deposit. Eventually, after 10 years of war, it was decided that the 3 empires and the elf kingdom will split rights to the deposit, each based on how strong they are. The treaty was signed last year and is also known as the millennium treaty because the treaty lasts for that long."

She turned around and then circled 4 different lands outside of the central continent.

"There are many islands outside of the central continent with nomadic tribes, but there are 4 important locations outside of the central continent. To the west past the ocean is the Myron Isles, also known as the land of the beastmen. To the north past the ocean, is the Radim Empire, the holy land of the warriors. It is also known as the northern continent. The Radim Empire contains the most territory and they have the Martial Dragon Institute, our rival institute. While the central continent is known for magic, the northern continent is known for its martial arts. To the east of the central continent, the biggest island in the world is the Shao Lin Dynasty. A lot of strong ninja and assassins come from there. Lastly, to the south of the central continent, there is the Cain Empire. Not much is known about them, but they are known as the land of the devils. They are very secluded and barely anyone has ever seen any devils. It is said that only 10 people have ever visited the Cain Empire."

After the prof finished explaining the basic knowledge of the world, I asked,

"Which place is the best tourist spot?"

The prof looked at me with a slightly surprised look before answering,

"I never heard that question before, but if you want to see the most beautiful locations in the world and visit the most unique places, then the Myron Isles is the place to go."

The prof looked like she wanted to ask me a question but she chose to respect my privacy and decided not to dig any further. I write down Myron Isles in my notebook, marking it as a place I will visit later. After another hour of content, the class was dismissed,

"Next lecture, I will start going into new content such as where to find minerals and materials that you will need to conduct experiments or to create new gear. As for the person who asked about the forbidden lands, those will be discussed in a future lecture. See you guys next lecture."

Everyone started leaving and I was approached by a classmate who put their arm around me.

"Hey I am Mohammed, how come you asked about tourist spots?"

I shook his arm off me and without looking at him I answered,

"It is my dream to explore the world. It is a p... I have to something urgent I have to do."

After saying that I hurried out the room while Mohammed shrugged his shoulders and walked away probably thinking to himself about how weird I am. Meanwhile, I think to myself,

"What is wrong with me today? Why did I almost tell him something private like that? Whatever I need to get to my next class. Also, why is everyone here so social?"

Wondering why no one is anti-social, I walk towards my next class, Intro to Magical Research.
