When you start writing a new chapter for your novel, the text box says "Keep calm and write something..." before you start typing. Keep calm is an interesting phrase to use, because when you start noticing the drama surrounding you, it's very hard to stay calm. And inevitably, almost every book I can think of has a dramatic event included in it. But drama varies from situation to situation, and with me, I was really starting to get fed up with my parents.

Now don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but sometimes I don't like being around them because they cause me to be unhappy. It's that weird teenage phase where you have a kind of love-hare relationship with your parents. Reason being you wished they could act or do things differently and they never seem to change. (Hint for my fellow teens: it's almost always you who has the initial problem so try to figure yourself out first; there, I saved you a lot of misery)

My parents were throwing me and my brother a party because he had just promoted from middle school to high school and I had just graduated high school. Parties with my family are great; they're always so much fun and there's always a ton of food and fun things to talk about, and this time was no exception. The only thing my brother and I didn't like about the entire situation was that we were the center of attention.

Those that know me and my brother Alex know that we absolutely hate attracting a ton of attention. We like hiding out in the corner and not being seen but being able to see everything. And this time was no exception, especially because we knew whenever our dad gets emotional about us growing up and other stuff like that, he tends to cry. Luckily, Alex and I had each other to look to for support, but there's only so much you can take before you snap.

I snapped.

And that's where J comes in.
