10 Lunch Break_CH10

Anah's P.O.V

"Good Morning, Anah," I whisper to myself as I shut my alarm off. The sun is shinning brightly today, almost blinding me. I jump out of bed, wash up and get dressed for school on time. I see an apple with some pocket money on the kitchen counter, grab it and rush out, struggling into my shoes as I went for the doorknob.

I reach the school gates 8 minutes early, thank god.

I walk into class only to be hugged by Yelda.

"Good Morning, darling!" Yelda is practically scream, how embarrassing.

"Good morning, Yelda. A little too loud don't you think?" I look at her and she realizes what I'm talking about when she notices the eyes. Scratching the back of her ears, she apologies, moslty to herself.

"Okay class, settle down!" Ms. M enters the class but Quillion isn't here yet.

Second day of school and he is already late. As I am about to grab my notebook, I feel a heartbeat beside me.

"Oh. Good morning." I say, startled by his sudden presence. How come I didn't see him come in, weird.

He just nods at me and minds his business. We both attend class as if nothing happened last night, I mean not like something big happened I would say. But the fact that there was something, even I can't deny it, I think he knows it too.

Anyways, first class, Physics. How annoying, my least favorite class.

I am listening.

I think I am.

I mean till I don't know when I stopped listening.

Nothing was going through my head. Playing with my pen in between my fingers, I try my best to note down, something and anything. That's when I feel a pair of brown eyes on me. This startles me and I drop my pen.

Ugh how clumsy of me.

I bend down to pick it up when...

"Ouch!" we just bumped our head, really hard. I look up to see Quillion's eyes, his pupils have dilated, I think he is embarrassed.

I couldn't help myself and start laughing.

"Ahahaha"

"Anah! What this behavior?" Did I just laugh out loud, Shit!

"Oh! I am so sorry, Mrs. M. Extremely sorry," startled I stand up and then quickly sit down realizing I am making it worse.

"Shit" I mutter to myself.

"Thank you," I whisper to Quillion before taking my pen from him which he had picked up for me while I was embarrassing myself in front of the entire class.

"You're welcome" Quillion, with an amused look, whispers back, which kind of catches me off guard because his voice is soft and playful. And I like it.

He acknowledges the fact that we conversed last night. I wouldn't call us friends just yet; I mean we just texted for a few minutes. I returned his response with a smile before drowning myself in my notebook, whether I understood today's class or not.

The first half of the day went pretty quiet.

*Riiinnnnnnnnnnggggggg*

That's the bell for lunchtime. Most of the students don't bother clearing up their table before heading to class unlike me. I organize my things and pack them up, before getting up and out. Yelda is waiting for me, patiently outside the classroom door so we can head to the cafeteria together.

So our cafeteria is in a separate hall entirely. Yelda and I are leaving, we are at the doorstep of the main building, when Yelda notices three guys in dark hot motorbikes, waiting outside the school gate.

The first is a brunette in a brown leather jacket, white t-shirt, black ripped jeans and brown adidas (Alex).

The guy next him is in a red and black jumper with a D on the back, black t-shirt, black jean and red and black Nike (D).

The last guy is in a dark green denim jacket, blue jeans, white t-shirt and black or dark blue Nike(Jammer).

All I can tell is there are some really good-looking guys and they were definitely waiting for someone from our school. I think they might be here for Quillion, I mean it makes sense, he is the only transfer student this year and well they are new faces. Basically, they don't look like they are from around here.

I am about to walk towards the Cafeteria when they start walking towards the gate and inside the school grounds, towards Yelda and I.

I don't like this, but I have no other choice.

"Well hello ladies," says the brunette.

"Quillion will be out in a bit," I tell them before any one of them can say anything more. All three of them were shocked, they looked at each other, then at me. Even Yelda was taken back.

That's when Quillion walks out, shocked. He practically sprinted towards us, the guys we overjoyed as they share their handshakes and hugs.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Well, we missed you, Q. D thought you might need some cheering up so here we are," the brunette exclaims

"Q, you seem to have become popular here. This lady here knew we were looking for you. Have you been talking about us? Huh, huh, hehe," the denim jacket guy teases Quillion.

"Anah?" Quillion sees me and he was taken back too.

"Quillion," I nod at him, smile and take my leave to go eat something. I'm starving. Entering the Cafeteria, noisier than usual I rush to the counter to grab a chicken tikka sandwich and a can of orange juice. I pay for it and am about to head to an empty table when - -

*CRASH*

Everyone turns around to see what it is. It's Nate again, getting picked on by the quarterback team. You see, I have always despised bullies, especially Alan. I always happen to save Nate's ass, so I bang my food on the table to get everyone's attention.

"Can I eat my lunch in peace? Nate, sit with me, won't you?" I tell Nate. I was madly angry, it is written on all over my face because fear and confusion is what Nate's face says. This happens every year but not this year, I've had enough of Alan and his goons.

"Oh, come one now. Anah, right? How about you mind your own girlie little business like every year, or you see you might lose that friend of yours over there," He is threatening me.

"Anah, let it go," I hear Yelda's shivering voice behind me. Disappointed with her reaction, I push her hand away and take a step forward with utter confidence.

I watch as Alan starts walking towards me with the guys following him. All of them have an evil smirk on their faces, with every step of theirs, my heart takes an extra beat. I am the first to ever stand up to these guys, no one else ever had the courage, this time I think I'm doomed.

'If he comes too close to touching me, I'll slap him across the face and make a run for it,' I plan in the back of my mind as my eyes still strongly set on those boys who get closer to me by the second.

10 steps away...

5 steps away...

3 steps away...

"I warned you, you just lost your friend," says Alan as he motions to look behind me. Yelda was gone, my eyes searched for her in the entire cafeteria. She ran away.

I look back at him.

"I alone, am enough. Never needed anyone before. Don't need anyone now," I tell him straight in his face without giving away any emotion.

Alan starts laughing followed by his team. His disgusting laugh echoes across the cafeteria as I stand there in front of him. I watch as his hands starts reaching out towards me, he is going to do something.

I am about to slap him, when suddenly someone grabs Alan's hand and comes in front, shielding me from Alan. I look up at the guy, I look to my side and it's Quillion's friends. They were all standing around me, to make sure Alan and his friends wouldn't get a chance to get near me.

"Wait, that would mean..."

Quillion is the one standing right in front of me. He smells nice.

All I know is I am saved. I owe it to him and his friends. I feel my nerves calm down.

"Anah, right. You okay?" D asks me to make sure I was holding myself okay.

I nod to him, Quillion turned his head, looked at me, like he didn't believe me. He is observed me for a few seconds, making sure I am untouched and okay.

"Who the hell do you think you are!" Alan is pissed and struggling to get his hand loose from Quillion's grip but failed pathetically.

"A friend. How about you and your boys back off now," Quillion was upset, like a scary kind of upset, I could tell from his voice.

Did he just call me his friend?! I mean circumstantial dialect most probably, right?

"That's a warning, coming from Quillion Wild. I would scram if I were you," says the brunette as he pulls up his jacket sleeves and crosses his arms on his chest.

"Sure. Whatever! Let's go boys," as Alan utters those words, Quillion frees his grip on him. I watch as Alan practically runs out of the cafeteria.

I slum into the closest chair and take deep breathes.

"Thank you, all of you," I look up at Quillion and the guys. They don't know me, yet they stood up for me.

"You are not so okay. Here, drink up," says the brunette as he hands me a water bottle. my hands are shaking, I can barely hold the bottle still. I honestly was terrified when Alan almost reached for me.

"Also, a pretty lady like you deserves the save. And any friendof Q's is a friend of ours," I look up and give him a smile, amused by his attempt to flatter me. I can tell he is the flirt in the group, but Quillion and I are not friends, are we?

"That's enough, Alex. That was some badass standing up you did there, Anah," D compliments me, pushing the brunette whom I assume is Alex to the side, only to be interrupted by Quillion.

"You shouldn't pick fights when you can't protect yourself," Quillion isn't happy about what I did or is he upset about something else. Wait, is he worried? I'm overthinking it. I hold the bottle tightly on my lap frustrated about how Quillion just scolded me.

"Come on, Q. Cut the girl some slack. But honestly, I am surprised. You are the first we have seen, stand up to dirt like that. By the way, I'm Jammer," says Jammer flashing a kind smile followed by a wink to let me know he has got my back.

"Thank you, boys. How about I treat you to lunch?" I exclaim so I can change the atmosphere a little and move on from what just happened.
