Learning a little at a time

After Alex had dinner he slowly learned a little about the town and the world around him. The town that he stayed in is called Strikez. Strikez is known for being able to produce good adventures better than most of the cities in the region.

The night came and it was time for him to sleep.  Alex closed his eyes wanting to know more about the world so he could figure out how to support himself and figure out his course of action.  When he fell asleep he heard a young feminine voice but couldn't make out what it was saying. Before long it was morning and the dream was forgotten. The more he tried the more he forgot and given up trying.

When breakfast was over Ren took him to the local guard house and registered.  It costed ten copper. After a little paper work he got a dog tag. The guardsmen said that it was valid for ten days  and if he wanted to stay longer he had to get tested at the guild.

Ren and Alex then left to the library. As they walked through the town Alex noticed that the town's buildings were made of different materials. Most of the buildings were made of wood or brick while the rest were cobble, log houses, or a mixture of them. When Alex asked Ren she told him that the architects of the town said that they got tired of building with the same materials and decided to get creative or took custom orders.

When We got to the Library Ren took Alex to a desk and then pulled out five books and plopped them down in front of him.

"All of this is basic knowledge. A little history with a map, magic, animals/wildlife, abilities, and jobs/careers. I'll buy them for you to read you have to pay me back anyway, once you get on your feet."

" Figured. I just didn't want to confirm it. Dang it is this how you make your money?"

Ren just smirked and said "no." She finds this funny was all Alex could think. His wanting to be independent grew. A small fire was ignited in Alex's eyes and he started reading.

The History book started familiarizing you with the kingdom Alderez. Alderez prides itself on its adventurers just like Strikez. When the adventurers retire the kingdom offers B rank adventurers and above a job of teaching soldiers or the next generation until they decide to quit. Those who take this job offer are usually loyal to the kingdom or are searching for a heir to pass on their knowledge and skill onto.

Alderez is also known for avoiding unbeatable enemies or defeating them before their armies get too big before the war starts. Such as using words and mind games to make their enemy decide against war or fight some one else. When war was unavoidable and they were at a big disadvantage they would contact spies on enemy territory and have them thin them out as subtly as possible whether it be small rumor, lies, or murders in the dark. They never go big unless they know it would finish off the kingdom or deal a critical blow with a high success rate of pulling it off without  being caught. In other words it like assassinating a kingdom or dictatorship without knowing who or how it happened.

As for how the spies do it. Just allot of studying the targets and predicting. The spies had been sown into each country a long time ago without them knowing waiting for orders.

After reading all of this Alex looks up thinking (Why would they put info about spies in a book for the public?)

[Author's note: I will try to keep chapters this long unless I feel like writing more or inspired. I will upload 2 or 3 times a week as for what days I don't know. I have no set schedule so far. Thank you!]
