Going back home, Evy couldn't stop thinking about what she had witnessed few minutes ago

"Thinking about the happenings in the underworld?" Arvid asked

Evy only nodded

"You see Evy, this is how life is, not everyday is blissful, people also have bad days and for that man this is just one of those days"he sighed

"I'm surprised you were able to hold on till the end" he chuckled his eyes filled with love, he was proud of her.

"But what you guys did to him was inhumane"

"Inhumane?" He chuckled

"It's called retribution, being the leader of the underworld is not easy, it has it's ups and downs and this is one of the downsides...

" it turns you into a monster, but the good thing is it gives you immense power and with power and affluence you can do just about anything....

"That man had leaked company's secret and had to be dealt with one way or another"

"This is what happens to people who tries to cross the Katz clan"

He looked at Evy trying to read her expression but she had none, her face was blank and pale

"Chicken?" He chuckled

"This is just the beginning, if you want to get revenge on the Elfresh's and their partners then you have to get used to this, the Elfreshes are a dangerous and powerful family, they could smoke you out within a second if you don't have a strong backing, and remember they ain't the only ones you'll be going up against, to beat them you have to join their game"

The rest of the drive home was met with silence, they were both immersed in their own thoughts.

The car pulled up in the garage and they both got down.

"You're back" Britt said excitedly giving each one a kiss on the cheek.

"How was it" she asked Evy

"Oh my!you look like you've just seen a ghost, it must have been hard on you, go freshen up I'll make lunch" Britt probed Evy who only nodded and headed for the stairs

"Evy" Arvid called stopping her in her tracks

"If you don't want to take up the position as leader, then I won't force you just give it some thoughts"

May 28 1997

7:30am

7 years old Alva woke up with a start, she had fallen asleep in her hiding position, everywhere was bright now and she was cold from the rain that fell the previous night.

She stood up looking around, she vividly remembered what happened last night, and now she knew that those last two gunshots were for her papa, she would never see her papa again.

But what if she went to look for him where she had left him yesterday will she perhaps find him there?

She was excited with this thought, afterall her papa had promised never to leave her.Her mama had died shortly after giving birth to her, what killed her mama?

She didn't know because her papa never told her.

She had only asked him about her mama because the kids at school had teased her about not having a mother.

Alva walked back to where she had left her papa, it was easy to find the place because it wasn't far from where she had hidden.

The place was empty like nothing had even happened there, perhaps it was the rain, but then there was no body.

She sat on the floor staring at the sky, her hands doing their own work, then she felt something, she looked and picked it up.

It was muddy.

She cleaned it with her slightly wet cloth.

It turned out to be her papa's ring, her mama had given it to her papa and now she felt like he had in turn given it to her.

She unhooked her necklace using the ring as a pendant.This is the only belonging of her parents left and she had to keep it safe.

She stood up, deciding to find her way out of the forest.

After walking for a while she was faced with her nightmare

A wolf.

She heard those people say there were wild animals in this forest but she didn't expect to encounter one so soon.

If she ran she'd be dead meat, if she didn't it would still be the same result.

The wolf gnawed his teeth, growling and watching a scared Alva like it was waiting for her to make a move, after waiting for a while it decided to attack.

"Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh

Alva screamed protecting her face, expecting to meet her end.

Boom boom

She heard gunshots,and the wolf also didn't attack, she slowly removed her hand from her face only to see the wolf lying in a pool of it's own blood

"Little girl are you okay?"

Alva heard the sweetest voice ever and everything went black.

Perhaps she had met her saviour.
