Regret Your Life

"Shut up." The word came out cold and sharp that Elene flinched. She looked at her love with wide eyes and then started crying.

"You.. even you are behaving like that. Even if you think it is my mistake. You have approved my plan too. But now that I have fallen, you are putting the blame on me. How could you do this to me?" Harold rapped the window attached from the coachman hurriedly, afraid that her actions would gain the attention of many passers by.

He gritted his teeth. Evan had never created a scene even when they had humiliated her. Even when he wanted her to cry and beg. But she was sitting there like an ice statue as if talking to him and begging him was beneath her position. He always wanted her to behave like Elene. But now that Elene was making a fuss, how he wished she was smart like her sister. No doubt that she was ignored by her father.

He rubbed his forehead when she held his sleeves and continued to cry hard.

"Elene.." the word held a strong authority and she turned to look at him, "it would be worse if others hear you. Do you want to end up in the drain?" Elene bit her lips and lowered her head. She had thought he would finally support her.

"So you are abandoning me because of the rumors." his lips itched to remind her of the truth. It might be rumors for others. But they both knew the truth. But he refrained, afraid that he would not be able to hold her tantrum and threw her out of the carriage.

"Of course not, Elene. We both know how important you are to me. But we need to lie low for a few days. And when the matter would be forgotten, we will find a way to punish her." he stared deep into Evan's eyes when he added the last line. There was a cold provoking smirk on his face but the woman had her eyes closed. As if she was not in the carriage, she could not hear or worse they were not talking about him at all. She was above them and they did not deserve her attention.

He gritted his teeth and for once, he nodded at Elene,

"When we reach home, you can do anything to her.'' That was all Else needed. Her anger subsided instantly and she looked haughtily at Evan. so what she had won the attention of the crowd. No one liked her in the end.

"And I will ask maids to arrange some charity in the orphanage. You can go there and provide a few things to children. It would be a good way to show your repentance and love for the kids. Do you know what I mean?" her lips pouted at once. She did not want to go to an ugly place that stink.

Her family goes there each year but she often skips it and goes out with her friends. Once she was there and got a stain on her new silk dress. And she was nauseated all the time.

As if reading his thoughts, he added, "you can just stay in the carriage or garden and only give a few things by yourself. The maids would handle the rest." Finally, her anger subsided and she wrapped her arm around his and leaned on his shoulders.

If anyone would open the curtains and see the scene, they would believe that ELene and Harold were a couple while Evan was sister in law.

"I knew that you love me most, Harold. You are the best man I have ever met." Evan barely shook her head. If only Elene knew the truth.

—------

When the carriage stopped, Evan was the first to stand up but Harold held her hands, surprising both sisters.

"Elene, will you go first? I need to explain to her how she would reply when others ask about this accident." Elene smiled at once, impressed that he was so considerate. She passed a quick smirk to her sister and left with a smiling face.

"What do you want?" Evan hissed as she jerked his hands away but his grip was tight and he did not let go of her hands.

"What do I want?" He raised a brow and spoke the words softly as if tasting their flavor in his mouth, "I have already told you, Evan. I want your obedience." his thumb rubbed her fingers softly but she only felt nauseated by the touch.

"But for now, I want you to beg me to stop Elene. Or she would hurt you once you leave this carriage. If you plead with me enough, I will convince her to let you go. But if you do not.." he trailed with a chuckle but his sinister eyes glowed vividly.

"Then she would kill me?" Evan raised a brow as if it did not matter, "we both know that she could not kill me. Anything else, did not matter." She tried to leave but he pulled her hard.

"Must you be so foolish and so cold. What is wrong with begging your husband or is it because you are the daughter of marquees while I am just a baron in your eyes." he pressed her hands hard. She could feel the pain and was sure it would leave a bruise but the man had lost all his reasoning and she did not need to explain to him. But she could not beg him either.

She would rather die! She closed her eyes and let him hurt her when he gritted his teeth. Coldness.. Could this woman offer nothing except that?

"There is a limit of arrogance, Evangeline. I will make sure to break yours." He pushed her away and left the carriage at once, "you will regret your decisions one day. I will wait for that day to teach you a lesson."
