Full Of Jealousy

"Elene!" The door knocked and everyone went silent. As if they only realize now where they were.

Elene gave a quick glare to Evangeline and then a smile appeared on her lips.

"I am still vying for the job in the academy, I hope you can behave!"

She walked toward the door, hoping that it was her friends and at the same time they were not. For she did not know how much her image was damaged.

She had worked so hard to make a place where she was better than Evangeline. No, where Evangeline did not exist, yet Evan took this place from her. Another wave of anger and hatred hit her hard as she held the door and took a deep breath.

When she opened it, there was a big smile plastered on her face. But the person standing on the door was the least she was expecting,

"I am here to serve the meal?" the chef at the door showed a toothy grin making Elene pause.

"I beg your pardon!" She took a step back when the man pushed the cart in.

"The meal. I was told the Monique Midnight star fainted because of hunger. It is our duty to serve her a meal then." he flashed another toothy grin to Elene as he walked in and then grinned at others.

Elene did not go to kitchens. She was just angry that Harold had commanded her to help his wife. For a second, she felt humiliated as if she was a cheap woman, a mistress.

No! Harold only loved her. Evangeline was his mistake.

"Ah, so they prepared a meal after my request." She smiled but the chef looked at her as if she was imbecile but when she felt he was going to criticize her, he looked back at the woman sitting on the chair with a pale face.

"My lady, I hope you enjoy the meal." he bowed when Evangeline nodded and thanked him.

The man was quick to leave the room.

"They insulted me." When Evan picked up the fork, Elene gritted her teeth. Harold rolled his eyes but stood up like a committed lover and went to appease her.

Evangeline paid them no attention. Harold was using them and thought Elene was another victim to his game. There was no doubt that Elene hated her and no matter what she said, Elene would not believe her.

When she picked up the plate, she noticed a small slip beneath it. She passed a quick glance to the busy couple as she opened it.

"I apologize for your grace for not being able to save you from the horrid couple. But I hope you enjoy the meal or my master would have my head." Evan held the slip tightly in her hands.

She knew that Ian did not like her yet he organized something so thoughtful. She would not have complained even if he had ignored her. After all, he had already helped her when she was going to fall.

The warmth felt so ironic that unshed tears filled her eyes. She looked at the plate as if she could see the smiling faces of Damien and Ian in it. She must have lost her mind.

She shook her head and took big bites of the food as if she was starving for months. Her watery eyes looked so miserable that.. When Harold passed a quick glance to her, he felt rewarded. For a year he was looking at his perfect wife and feeling little.

Her presence was too much. As much as he was attracted to this woman and wanted her. He wants to break her first. To ruin her so that she would never meet his eyes but keep her head bowed as she should.

Soon… soon! He was going to force Evan to the corner until she begged him and then he would get rid of Elene and her mother. And then they would be happy ever after.

"Look at her degrading herself. She had completely lost it." Elene scoffed, finally feeling better.

"After the meeting with the owners of the academy, she would have no respect and image left. Then, only you will be remembered as the Midnight star's daughter." he kissed the bare part of her neck when she grinned.

Her eyes colluded with hatred that she did not notice the smirk on his face.

When Evan finished eating, they pushed her out of the room hurriedly. Elene had already collected the dean, the head of their department and Lady Agatha to help her.

They all looked at Evangeline as if she was a criminal. No, they did not want to know the truth. They only wanted to save the image of their academy. And since Elene was still part of their academy, they would support her.

Evangeline was long forgotten and now was only a pawn at their disposal.

"Lady Morningstar, you are not studying in the academy but your sister and it was her exam today. You know that right?" Lady Agatha asked as if she was talking to an imbecile.

Evan's eyes went cold as she nodded but it only infuriated the older woman.

"My lady, we know that you were part of the academy once but you were not offered a job here. Are you jealous that your step sister got the opportunity which you did not have?"

"Or did you just take the place because you want to ruin her image? There is no way that you did it out of goodwill when you were caught so easily."

They did not wait for her to speak. They did not want her to speak but only nod and the case would end. The test would happen again and Elene would perform well.

And as far as it was about Evangeline, what punishment she could face except some gossip about her. She deserved it for her actions.

"You must speak, my lady. But if you can not, you can just sign here and we will sort out everything."
