28 Heartbreaking Goodbye

Shi Yan softly blinked her soft dewy eyes trying to reister what her sister requested of her.

"No Way!" She finally shouted.

"Yan'er"

Shi Rong pulled her into a soft loving embrace. "I would prefer for you to be at the palace than traveling around the mainlands with me."

Shi Yans eyes watered as her sister held her. "Xiao Rong please don't send me back to them people 1st, 2nd and 4th sister will bully me terribly and out brothers just ignore me not to mention father especially since mother, Empress Zuo is ill."

Shi Rong's heart clenched but she strengthened her resolve as she addressed her once more.

"Yan'er you will return to the palace, I shall have Lin Shaoze escort you, when i have conquered this mainland and made it into a safer place only then shall I return to retrieve you."

Shi Yan sobbed lightly but obediently shook her head.

Shi Rong stroked her head once more then turned towards the door and opened it.

Lin Shaoze stood outside the door red in the face.

"Honestly slamming the door in my face if plain rude, what kind of princess are you!"

Shi Rong rolled her eyes.

"Lin Shaoze I would like for you to escort Yan'er back to the palace along with my guards, I shall no longer be needing them they shall protect Yan'er from now on. Along with my royal inquiry that no harm shall come towards Yan'er if so then severe punishment shall be brought upon that individual, that even goes towards the princesses and princes of the palace."

Lin Shaoze blinked in surprise. "Xiao Rong might I ask why the sudden change in wanting your dear younger sister around?"

"I would just hate for anything to happen to her on my watch." Shi Rong answered honestly while shrugging her shoulders.

"Very well."

Shi Rong escorted Shi Yan, Lin Shaoze and the group towards the gate bidding her sister a final farewell.

She watched her figure disappear as the distance between the two grew greater and greater till she could no longer see her fleeting figure.

She swore in her heart she would protect her younger sister no matter what.
