1 Assessment

Zenke was on his roof staring at the night sky, while his dark black hair fluttered with the wind. He was thinking about the events that transpired yesterday on his 11th birthday. His parents told him the truth about his origin. He was told that he came from a comet which according to an ancient prophecy, will change the fate of the world. Only time will tell whether that fate is good or bad.

In spite of that Yenhua sect, a declining sect which had existed for more than a millennia, found the pod which carried the young boy. It's patriach Ye Wenhua who is an old man in his 80s decided that they will protect and raise him as their own. The old man is the only Spirit Rank Qi practitioner in the whole sect which makes him look like he is in his 50s. A cheerful couple, Ye Zenbo and Ye Lin adopted the young boy and named him Zenke, which means the everlasting star.

Zenke was different from everyone else as he has no Qi foundation in his dantians and above all else he has a tail growing on his back like a monkey. He also has black coloured irises which no one in the known history ever had. The sect kept his arrival from a comet, a secret from the rest of the world to protect him. The fact that he has a tail was made to look like an abnormality in his formation. Because of that he was getting a lot of sneers by the other sects. He was not shown any hate by his sect, but he prefers to be alone and train because he believes he might cause others to hate him.

Zenke had a strong body and a fierce nature because of his genes. But over time that fierce nature was changed to be a battle driven boy, who always trains whenever he is free. He is not on the smart side, so he gets fooled by some sect members. Zenke was given a very old martial arts technique that was very nearly lost because of time and the clan patriarch gave it to him saying that "Even if the whole world thinks that you are a cripple, we will never abandon you." after that he laughingly continued "I have this feeling that you will rise to the very top of this world and look at everything like they are ants".

Thinking about all that, before jumping off of the roof he suddenly remembered about something "Damn, I'm supposed to start going to school starting tomorrow. can this not get any worse? if possible i would like to spar with someone." He went to sleep after that, hoping to wake up early to start his routine early morning training.

The night sky started to clear up and the clear morning sunlight shone over Zenke's window. "Crap, I'm 50 minutes late. Teacher will kill me for sure if he finds out." saying so Zenke went out of his room, splashed water on his face and brushed his teeth before dashing out to the training ground. He was quite fast despite not being a Qi practitioner. When he reached the training grounds only 10 seconds had passed. He crossed 100 meters in 10 seconds, proving his different physique. Zenke's Training instructor Su Hung was furious. She had 3 disciples and Zenke was the most troublesome. If not for Yenhua sect's patriach personally asking her to train him, she would've long since kicked him out. She was a body refiner from the Su'n sect, a close ally of Yenhua sect. She looks like she is in her 30s but in reality she is 45 years old. She has red hair and a beautiful face which is retained by her body refiner rank which is the peak of Earth rank.

Ye Bou and Ye Lak the remaining disciples sneered at Zenke saying " You have the nerve to be late despite it being our final day. Today teacher will take our assessment to see her best disciple". Ye Bou is a boy with above average body structures. And Ye Lak is a boy who is slightly skinny. The both of them had brown hair and brown eyes. At this moment Su Hung approached Zenke and started heating her fingers. Seeing this a cold sweat broke from Zenke's forehead. He started apologising saying " Teacher this disciple was busy training last night that i forgot the time, i swear i will pass your assessment and prove that I'm the best disciple you have". Hearing his remark Ye Bou and Ye Lak had veins growing on their foreheads. Su Hung on the other hand started laughing " i was thinking you'll make an excuse, but i never imagined you would make such a bold claim as well". " Well anyways today i wanted to give each of you a gift for training so well these past 4 years. But before that let's start the Assessment".

"Ye Bou, we'll start with you first, despite being my first disciple you are stuck at a bottleneck in Base Earth realm. Though i am pleased with it, i expected more. Now step forward and hit this punching device with all of your strength." saying that she pointed at the device in the middle of the training ground, which was a wide area with a lot of different training devices laying around. "You'll get 2 chances in case you thought the first one wasn't enough. But don't count on it and give it your all". Ye Bou bowed to Su Hung and proceeded to accumulate power to his right hand. When he accumulated enough power, he smashed at the device with full force. Numbers started showing up on the device and stopped at an impressive number of 278. Ye Lak was kind of impressed because 300 represents that they have enough power to make a breakthrough to a newer rank. Ye Bou and Ye Lak always test their strength every now and then with the punching device. But looking at the number Ye Bou said " i feel that this not what i am truly capable of, maybe i didn't fully accumulate all my power" he looked at Su Hung and said "I'd like to reassess my power". Su Hung nodded. He did the same thing again but waited a bit more to accumulate his power before unleashing upon the device. It showed a number of 280.

Zenke started laughing at the sight of this. Because Ye Bou said he was capable of getting a much higher number. This made Ye Bou nearly die out of embarrassment. He thought to himself 'just you wait how i humiliate you in front of all the sect members once your assessment is shown'. Su Hung ignored that and called Ye Lak to do his assessment, but unlike Ye Bou, he didn't come even close to 300 threshold as he got 256 and 257 respectively in his two tries.

Finally it was time for Zenke. When Zenke approached the device, Su Hung called him and said " Zenke, even though we have no way of analysing your realm due to a lack of Qi foundation in your body, you have been working relentlessly for the time you have trained with me. And based on my judgement on your figure i can say for sure that you will not be any weaker than an Earth level intermediate practitioner of either Qi practitioner or Qi body refiner. So don't be sad even if you get a lower power assessment". Her words encouraged him a lot and he was very happy. He smashed at the strength device without waiting to accumulate any power this surprised the disciples and Su Hung. When he hit the device an earth shaking sound was heard and a number of 406 appeared on the device. everyone was speechless.
