14 Chapter 14: Convention Center

The interviewer turned out to be the manager of a staffing company and the job is helping a bigger company by being a waiter among other things.

He explained how the job will work when she will start, and how much she will be paid as well as what she should wear as her uniform. Also, this job that she will be taking is a seasonal only type of job. After all, that was said and done he gave her the tour of the convention center that she will be working at.

One of the first places he showed her was the lobby where she will sign in and sign out with the other workers. He took her to the catering area, the cafeteria, storage rooms, freezer, booth area, and other various areas. When the tour was finished he told her to make sure to get her uniform as soon as possible.

In the afternoon Pamela and her mother went to many stores to find a nice vest and some black slacks that fit her. It was hard to find clothes that fit her due to how small they seem to be when she wears them on. A few hours later she finally finds some fitting clothes and got ready for when she would begin her shift.

The first day of work she was told to help set up the eating area for the customers who will be coming at a later time. Then she had to help the cafeteria set up their stations and when the time comes she was told she will be one of the waiters.

Around three pm the customers came to eat and asked for specific food because some are allergic to certain things or just vegetarian. Awhile later there were some rowdy customers who came by and started to yell for their food. Pamela quickly took their order and got their food to them so that they can stop arguing with the other waiters.

When everyone finally left for other areas she gets to go on a break and eat lunch in the employee area. Because she was really starving when it was her turn to eat, she just puts everything on one plate and devours it. Her co-workers got amazed at her appetite and stared at her as she eats her food.

She looked up sensing something and saw their stares which got her to choke a bit. She asks them why are they staring at her like that and they said she seems to be really enjoying her food a lot. Getting her answer she continued to gulp down the delicious food in front of her until nothing was left. Feeling full she rested for a while before heading back to work or other errands the captains will be giving her.

The next event that is happening would be music and video games, both which very much gave excitement to Pamela. At the music event, many well-known celebrities went around to greet their fans and mingle too. The video game event is where many people dress up in cosplay and do cool poses as well as having a tournament too.

During the music and video game event, Pamela is told she will be part of the stand workers and help the others if needed. On the menu, there is different salad, sandwiches, drinks, snacks, and desserts.

Many customers come to mostly buy coffee and quickly left as they want to try and mingle with their favorite celebrities. When break time comes all her co-workers ask Pamela if she can help them cover their shifts since she is the only one who was not interested in meeting and greeting with celebrities. Seeing how eager everyone looked she agreed and they went over as she sat waiting for them to come back.

Time felt like it was ticking slowly as she just watched how everyone attempts to talk to the celebrities walking around. Pamela got bored and went around the back to have a quick snack before going back to the front. The event finally ended and she was eager to go to the video game event more.

Going to the video game event she was told that all she had to do was give out ice cream and a few other snacks. She got to see many people dressed up in cool looking outfits and the event made her feel happy even though she can not join.

This event lasted longer than the music event but Pamela had fun with it as she was more interested in what was going on. The event ended with a cool concert and lots of cotton candy being thrown everywhere. As she was not part of the cleaning crew she signed out and went home to rest.
