Keiko Todoroki has long abandoned her birth name and started calling herself Vanity, Ember, or "Chesire Cat" depending on who she comes across. Childhood friends of Deku and Bakugo. Vanity is the forgotten middle child between Dabi and Shoto, whose fire Quirk rivals that of Dabi's Quirk after he grows up and joins LoV, only now she struggles to control her Quirk due to a traumatic childhood secret. Endeavor, having always been power hungry, agrees to allow a man wearing a black trench coat to try and work with her to make her Quirk even stronger, unaware of the horrors that went on behind his back. Her family was later told she had died in an accident, and Endeavor didn't think any thing of it despite the grief. Everyone eventually moved on, while they secretly continued their expirements for ten years or so. She'd escaped the facility and found a tree house to live in, wanting to just live her life and be left alone by both heroes and villains.
Vanity awoke in her tree house after a fitful night's sleep, waking with a jolt and sitting up. It was always the same dream.. left her feeling like she was there. Her breath was hard and uneven as she tried to reel herself back in, her long silvery white hair falling around her shoulders.
"It's just a dream.." She said softly to herself, trying to calm her racing heart and quell the feeling of her Quirk wanting to spike.
She didn't know how long it took, but she waited until she'd calmed down before getting up and deciding to leave her tree house to head into town to look for a public shower or something similar, sticking to the ally ways and back roads to avoid the people out and about, since her tree house definitely didn't have one.
She headed to the beach since sometimes they had building with the showers in them to rinse off, only she stopped in her tracks when she noticed a group of kids around her age, two of them being familiar faces, and a man with black hair. Vanity noticed Bakugo glance at her and moved too slow to duck behind the building. Why where they..
"Hey!" Bakugo yelled, before growling some and stalking towards the building. "What are you doing, stalking around?" He yelled, earning a confused and baffled reaction from Midoriya as if he hadn't noticed her. "K-Kaachan! Where are you going?" He yelped before following. "Shut up! There's someone.." Bakugo halted, eyes falling on Vanity when he saw her as if taking in her appearance. "She's our age?" Midoriya asked as he came next to him. "What're you doing out here?' He asked a bit calmer than Bakugo.
Vanity slowly took a step back, only for Bakugo to grab her arm and roughly pull her out from behind the building. "Where do you think you're going, creeper?" He asked with a growl. Midoriya frowned slightly and turned to Aizawa. "Sensei!" He called, and Vanity's eyes widen as the male approached them. "No wait.." She said softly, and Bakugo raised an annoyed eyebrow. "Eh?" Midoriya glsnced at her with a confused frown. "He's our teacher, maybe he can help you." He said calmly, taking in her appearance.
"He's a hero.." Vanity said softly. "Don't let him see me." She said softly, raising more confusion. "What are you, a villan? Don't be stupid!" Bakugo snapped, clearly the girl wasn't doing well and he wanted to know why she looked like hell. "No!" Vanity protested. "It's okay.. he's really nice." Midoriya tried, wondering why she looked so scared.
"What is it Bakugo, Midoriya?" Aizawa asked, not able to see the girl with her being mostly behind Bakugo. Midoriya glanced at the male with a slight frown. "We found a girl, she's around our age." He said calmly as Bakugo pulled her from behind him. Aizawa's eyes widen slightly as he took in her rough appearance. What in the world..
"If I let go, she'll run." Bakugo stated, catching the glance from the man, earning a sigh from him. He glanced at the girl. "What're you doing?" He asked, and Vanity lowered her eyes to avoid eye contact. "It's a public beach.." She said quietly. Aizawa sighed some and slowly reached to lift her chin, only for her to pull away and try to pull away from Bakugo, but he was definitely stronger. "Listen, are you from around here?" Aizawa asked, not really expecting an answer since the girl was making it clear she didn't want to talk to him. "By the looks of you.. are you on your own?" He asked. "Why don't you join us? We can take you back to the academy, let Recovery-" 'No!" Vanity said, cutting off the man. "I'm fine on my own." She said, glancing at him with fire in her eyes.
Aizawa sighed. "As an adult and a teacher.. I can't ignore the state you're in." He said calmly. "But I also can't force you." He said, earning a slight frown from Midoriya. "Bakugo, let her go." The man said. Bakugo grit his teeth and held her a minute longer before slowly letting go.
