Hands caressed my sides, galvanizing the skin beneath her apt fingers. The shrill cry of my phone erupted again, and I growled, shoving my hand in my pocket to fish it out. It was my mother. I knew she wouldn’t call unless it was urgent. Reluctantly, I answered. “Hello?”

“Hey, Kelly. I’m sorry to bug you, but I received an emergency page and am needed at the hospital as soon as possible. Is there any way you could come sit with Gage until Max is finished with his patrol? I feel awful but it was quite unexpected.”

I bit my lip. Reese was watching me. Her cheeks were as flushed as mine felt, her hands on my thighs.

“Okay, I’ll be right there,” I managed, bottling my lust as I concluded the call. Reese’s eyes were inquisitive, and I sighed. “My mom got a call and has to go in. So, I have babysitting duty.” I ran a hand through my hair, attempting to gather some type of calm.
