5 Chapter 5

"You're late for school Rosie." I woke up to the sound of Cassidy's voice ringing through my head.

'Ugh shut up Cassidy, my head hurts. ' I groaned out, annoyed with the interruption.

I rolled off my bed and onto the floor, dragging my sheets down with me.

I looked up alarmed as my door slammed open and my older brother Reed walked in, his reddish-orange hair looking like a birds nest.

"Why are you on the floor? Nevermind, I don't care. Dad's taking me to the training center because I take over in 3 months. So you actually have to go to school today, loser."

"Ughhh, I groaned and dragged myself back on the bed, "get out of my room idiot. "

"Oh look at the time, you're 3 hours late for school and I have to go soo." He gave me a little smirk and goes to walk away.

"Ha jokes on you, I just got my car back so I have a ride. NOW GET OUT OF MY ROOM!"

He sauntered out with a big smirk on his face, getting the reaction he wanted.

I took a shower, did my skin care routine and looked through my fairly filled closet.

I was feeling pretty confident today so I picked a cropped white Malibu shirt, some ripped jeans and a pair of white sneakers.

I went downstairs and no one was there so I had a bowl of oatmeal, got in my car and drove to school.

I attended what was basically the stereotypical high school. It had the basic mean girls, the jocks, the fuckboys, the nerds, the gang members, the rich boys, the populars, and the normal people.

I was one of the normal kids but I was well known because most of my friends were popular. I pulled into the parking lot and grinned as the freshmen watched in awe.

'She's so pretty omg!'

'Is that her car?'

'Her hair is soo tacky.' I looked around to find who the annoying high pitched voice belonged to and glared at her.

The fellow seniors whose cars were parked next to mine barely batted an eye. Their cars were probably 3 times as expensive as mine but I didn't care.

I started walking into the building but was interrupted by the sound of loud giggling.

"Ethan, babe you're so funny! " Multiple heads along with mine turned around to look at Ashley as she giggled loudly.

Ethan looked around unamused and I could tell he didn't say anything funny. Being the attention whore she was, she had probably faked it just for attention.

'Ugh, always fishing for attention, I hate her-

'Oh wow Ethan looks hot today. Imagine licking ice cream off those abs. It should be a crime to be that hot. Who knows-

"Stop eyeballing my friend Rosalyn." I looked over to see Reid leaning on my car next to me.

"I wasn't doing anything! Plus I didn't know that you guys were friends. "

"It's pretty obvious with the way you're ogling him, and I'm popular and you're not so that's probably why. "He smirked and I just scoffed, crossing my arms in annoyance.

"Why are you even here? I thought you were with Dad."

"I just wanted to tell you not to come to the big party tonight. "

"Ethan's birthday party? Why?" I was confused, did this have anything to do with the moon goddess's warning?

"See, ya know how I'm popular and respected and you're, you know, average and barely known."

"What does that have to do with anything?" I was infuriated and a little bit hurt.

"You might embarrass me and I can't let that happen soo.. don't go. " He had the decency to look at least uncomfortable.

"Wow, asshole much. You'll see me there and you can't stop me. "

I stormed away into the school building and went to Meredith's locker where the other girls where congregated.

"Hi everyone!" I exclaimed, putting on my fakest smile and beaming at them.

This time I wasn't even acknowledged, they all just stood together in a huddle, all on their phones.

"Hello?" I could see Cynthia give me a sympathetic look before focusing back on her phone.

π˜Ώπ™„π™‰π™‚! π˜Ώπ™„π™‰π™‚! π˜Ώπ™„π™‰π™‚!

The bell rang and they scurried away in different directions, Meredith roughly bumping into me as she passed.

'I never liked them anyway, too eager to pull the old knifey in the back, ey? '

'Never do that again Cassidy, and it's probably nothing. '

I opened my locker to get my books and a note fell out.

It read: π™ΌπšŽπšŽπš πš’πš— πšπš’πš›πš•πšœ πš‹πšŠπšπš‘πš›πš˜πš˜πš–, π™΄πšŠπšœπš π™·πšŠπš•πš• πšπšžπš›πš’πš—πš πš•πšžπš—πšŒπš‘. 𝙸'πš•πš• πšπšŽπš•πš• 𝚒𝚘𝚞 πš πš‘πšŠπš'𝚜 πšπš˜πš’πš—πš πš˜πš—. - π™²πš’πš—πšπš‘πš’πšŠ

I walked into the bathroom and was met with Cynthia pacing back and forth, looking very nervous.

"Calm down, what is it?" I placed my hands on her shoulders to steady her.

She stepped back and let out a deep sigh.

"Um, I don't know how to say this but Meredith thinks that we should not be friends with you."

"What? "

"She says that being friends with someone that isn't as popular as us will bring down our reputation. "

"Ok, you're not gonna go along with it are you? "

"Rosie, I have no-

"No choice? You aren't gonna die if you choose to stick by your fucking best friend Cynthia." I shook my head in disappointed as she lowered her head.

"All the girls agreed too? "

She gave me a small nod and looked at me warily.

I wasn't that surprised that Meredith started it, but that they followed along.

"Wow, the people I thought were my friends have betrayed me."

I scoffed and crossed my arms in disbelief, stepping back.

"I'm not sure you remember when I protected you from being bullied and tarnished my reputation in the process. "

She shook her head and I smiled sadly.

"That's what I thought."

I paced around, getting angrier each passing second.

"So, there goes our friendship. 7 YEARS OF BEING FRIENDS JUST TO GO DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE THAT!"

"WE'VE STUCK TOGETHER SINCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! FUCKING ELEMENTARY CYNTHIA! "

She started to tear up but I didn't care, I was absolutely pissed off.

"ALL OF US TOGETHER CYNTHIA! "

"And you throw it away to protect your precious popularity and because Meredith says so." My voice cracked as I finished. At this point, Cynthia was full on bawling but I couldn't care less.

"Get out. "

"But-

"GET OUT CYNTHIA!"

She ran out sobbing and I dropped to my knees on the tiled restroom floor.

I felt a tear drop as I kneeled there, my throat raw and my heart full with betrayal.

'Get up, someone might come in and see you.' Cassidy advised and I got up and fixed myself in the bathroom mirror.

'You don't need them, you know that right?'

'I know, I'm just shocked and hurt.'

'Yeah, cause we did not spend 70 dollars on a dress to not wear it.
