A Piece of the Catastrophe Sword, Yet so Annoying and Powerful

Ben's jaw dropped to the ground as he witnessed the scene that just occurred in front of him, his eyes wide open as he couldn't believe what just happened.

Don't mistake things here; he knew deep well the background of this sword, or better say that he only knew his background with the broken sword.

As he was at one day casually browsing through the several items that were displayed on the stalls at the market when he suddenly took a little interest in a broken sword that was cast aside by a stall owner.

He didn't think anything weird going on with his feelings and only attributed it to his love for swords, but life proved that things were never that simple, as the moment he touched the sword to check it out, it abruptly vanished.

At a later date, he found out that the same sword that vanished out of nowhere was now hovering inside his sea of consciousness, greatly helping him with his cultivation.

It increased his cultivation speed ten times more than what he previously could with his own talent, while his comprehension of sword techniques was alleviated to a whole new level.

And that's why his cultivation was higher than his eldest brother's; it was all attributed to the broken sword that he found by chance. But he only thought of it as a coincidence and a one-time thing that would never take place again, totally oblivious to the power of his luck.

He was frequently trying to figure out more about the sword, trying to summon it out and various different things as well to see what is it really capable of doing, but everything was to no avail as he couldn't control it in the bit.

Yet now, it all changed when the broken mysterious sword that he stumbled upon by chance was saving his life while easily taking on an attack from a godly realm cultivator.

Despite his shock and astonishment, Ben was extremely joyful right now as he just saw a chance for his survival, hope blooming deep inside of his soul as he started thanking the heavens for their support.

Abaddon's feelings were calm at this point, but a hint of envy could be seen swimming inside of him; he couldn't help but be amazed by this sight, ' I believe that's the piece of the catastrophe sword. But for such a weapon to protect a mortal kid with no talent, isn't this a bit too much? "

He somehow started realizing what did his system mean by that message when it sent him the novice gift, as he really didn't think that he could best such a piece of the sword with a cultivation base that was on par or lower than the kid.

Unfortunately, such an occurrence didn't make Abaddon feel any less confident in killing Ben, as the black spiritual energy that he killed the others with and the one he just sent to Ben wasn't even an attack in the first place, but simply a casual wave of his energy.

His face was still emotionless as he couldn't wait for the moment when he would lay his hands on such a legendary piece of a sword, " Haha, kid, did some hope maybe hit you when you got saved in the last moment? Unfortunately, your cultivation is too weak for you to make use of this sword. "

He somehow felt weird as he didn't know why did he suddenly become talkative; just a little earlier, he was just thinking about killing him and getting the reward without any waste of time, yet now he was doing the exact opposite.

' I have a weird feeling that something is trying to influence my mind somehow, I need to finish this right away.' He pushed all the distracting thoughts and attacked.

With his last thoughts, a woosh sound traveled, and Abaddon disappeared.

Ben's eyes narrowed, but he surprisingly didn't jump backward and unconsciously reached out for the sword grabbing its hilt. He weirdly felt the need to do so as he then waved his sword behind him.

Bam!

His sword did indeed hit something hard; as he opened his eyes and saw what his sword collided with, he subconsciously moved two steps back as he felt fear invading his heart.

An old man was standing right where the sword controlled his hand to attack that place, a dark claw clearly manifested by spiritual energy was firmly protecting his face from the sudden attack of the sword.

Abaddon directly pushed the sword that almost took his life away and jumped a few meters back.

Drip!

As blood dripped from Abaddon's cheek, Ben was extremely dumbfounded as he never in his wildest dreams did he think that he would one day be able to injure a godly realm cultivator while being way weaker than the other party.

But he inwardly knew the reason for such a thing as he pushed the broken sword in front of him, and a hint of confidence started taking over his heart, shadowing his fear and making him feel more courageous and calm.

' I can keep my life if it's with this sword.' His eyes glowed with fighting spirit as he muttered under his breath.

He knew that he was useless cause it wasn't even him in the first place that moved to protect himself from Abaddon. Hell, he couldn't even feel him behind him, much less attack him.

The broken sword did all the work as it successfully knew Abaddon's exact location and even managed to injure him. Even though it was but a little cut, that was more than enough to prove that Ben had a good chance of surviving this crisis.

Abaddon squinted and smiled, " Interesting."

If Abaddon wasn't a veteran demonic cultivator that had countless combat experiences, he would have surely perished with that sudden attack and reaction of the sword.

He obviously knew that Ben couldn't react that way, as it was already commendable that he could stand firmly in front of him without dropping to the ground shuddering in fear.

Another reason he coped well with the broken sword's background is due to his knowledge of it from the system. If anyone else were in his position, they might struggle to handle the situation.

Cause they would totally underestimate Ben and don't put that much thought into his sword, thinking that it's just for show.

He wiped the blood off his cheek and showed an excited smile, this was his first fight with a cultivator after his reincarnation, and he began to enjoy the novelty of it as he was fighting a piece of the catastrophe sword.

His blood started blowing as his indifferent look vanished, replaced by a bloodthirsty one instead.

Bam!

Abaddon vanished as he reappeared in front of Ben; an identical black claw was on his left hand, and he instantly attacked; his consecutive attacks started pushing him back again and again.

Simultaneously, the broken sword was manipulating Ben's hand to defend against every attack; tens of exchanges occurred in the span of seconds.

When Abaddon finally stopped and took some distance away from Ben, he noticed that the kid's palm was dripping blood, constantly shaking from the attacks that it just had to cope with.

This wasn't something shocking to Abaddon, as he was primarily aiming for such a result when he started only attacking using his dark claw, trying to test the limits of the broken sword.

Despite it being a piece of the catastrophe sword, Ben couldn't make use of its fullest potential as he was way too weak for him to be able to do so, while the piece itself seemed to be greatly weakened by the long river of time.

' It seems that this kid's body didn't get any kind of power boost from the sword. Despite the sword controlling his every move, his body will soon break if he keeps doing these intense movements and taking on the force of my attacks without break.' He grinned as he saw this kid breaking apart on his next attack.

On the other side, Ben could finally catch his breath, his hand and body screaming with pain as he didn't know if he could keep up with the sword in the next round.

' Sword, don't you have any attacks that can kill him or tricks that can help me escape? I feel my bones crackling with each move you make me do to cope with you. ' He suspected that the sword could somehow understand him. Hence he helplessly spoke, trying to find an alternative to this situation.

He was already the luckiest and most abnormal cultivator in the whole world at this very moment, as it's really an impossible thing to resist an attack from a godly realm cultivator with only Qi Condensation realm.

Yet, this kid's arrogance and fantasies already made him talk about killing or fleeing from Abaddon. He was literally treating the sword as a tool that could accomplish anything he could think of.

As if the sword was answering his thoughts and coping with his deepest desires to make him able to kill or flee from Abaddon.

The air around him chilled in an instant, and even the old man, 10 feet away from him, felt the cold biting him despite his strength, which was on an entirely different level from Ben's.

The sword escaped the kid's bloody palm as he hovered in front of him, constantly emitting cold energy. Soon, the sword turned into a black shadow and charged; all the flowers and grass in its way wilted.
