Reincarnation of an (History) Otaku!

25-year old Japanese salaryman, Orimura Takeshi was walking home after another night of overtime when he chanced upon one of his juniors trying to commit suicide. He saved her at the cost of his own life, and when he woke up, he found himself in the body of a teenager with memories of a new life. He had been reborn as Laius Orimius Tacheus, son of a minor noble of the land of Rumalia. And using his newly granted knowledge of another world? He has come to bring an unprecedented revolution upon the land!

New World; New Faces - II

I went to my father's study and found an impressive collection of books.

Based on that alone? It is plain to see that the family Orimii is an affluent one.

Nothing too fantastic, but definitely better than being reborn as a peasant or a beggar. The house itself is a two-story family villa with a courtyard garden and well in the center. We have about three servants. All freemen. I have yet to identify whether or not this place has slavery–but I'm willing to bet there is.

I grabbed as many heavy tomes as I could from the home library and carried them into my room.

I found some paper too and grabbed as many sheets as I could hold with my hands.

The paper is probably an expensive commodity: Father keeps his supply inside a heavy drawer.Just below some of his medical instruments.

Father is a doctor. He probably uses this to write orders and reports to his colleagues.

That aside…

I need to know everything about this world.

I can recall some facts as Tacheus:

Seria is the name of the continent I'm in. The country I belong to is Rumelia. My family is classed as minor nobility from the countryside. One that can afford to send their sons to university or, as is the case with me, probably one that can afford to send me to an officer's school.

We owe a debt of loyalty to the magistrate's family who also happens to retain my father in their staff as a physician, and as the son of said physician, it was expected that I follow in his footsteps or I find something else equally suitable for my respectable if not lofty position.

As Tacheus, however, I have not been very interested in my studies.

Because they bored the shit out of me.

I would much rather play outside with my friend and hear about stories from the lands beyond mine.

But…

Now that "Takeshi" is a thing?

I have a newfound appreciation for what lies before me.

I now have knowledge of a land far, far ,far away beyond what I can possibly describe in either language I now know.

I saw a map of the world.

"Seria…"

I lightly touched the hand-painted illustrated work in the book…

It was a map…but there were pictures of monsters and gods in the margin. As well as notes to say "Unsighted".

Unsighted.

Unexplored…

So many gaps…So many parts unknown.

"Terra Incognita…How exciting!"

I couldn't help but smile.

"Oh, how should I start…I need info. I need to know everything I can about this world!"

Not only that.

I needed more paper.

My hands were blacked by the ink I dipped my quill into as I frantically took notes and recalled whatever I could from "Takeshi".

Things I wanted to build…

Tanks, Cannons, Siege weapons! Planes and Carriers!

Stories and historical lessons I never wanted to forget.

–Alexander! Rome! Three Kingdoms! Napoleon! Prussia!

Reminders to myself.

Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, Musashi, Clausewitz!

Trees of technology and the ripples of knowledge spanning at least 5000 years.

Water purification, hygiene, western and eastern medicine, gunpowder creation, metallurgy, the printing press, high finance, PROGRAMMING!

Concepts I needed to test out…

Strategies I wanted to actualize.

Theories I needed to organize!

So much to write so much to write!

Too much to write!

Weapons…

Engines of Destruction.

I can bring them here!

In this world of Seria!

A world where wyverns, and pegasi, and MAGIC exists!

MAGIC!

As an actual real force!

Oh, how grand!

Oh, how exciting!

Who would have thought being dead would make me feel so alive!?
