3 Chapter:3 Survival

the pain and exhaustion of my body had completely disappeared after my long nap not only that but after checking my status once more I was back to full health but what truly impressed me was the fact I was even alive any predator would have seen my idiotic napping area as an easy kill but no footprints other than the beast and my own from earlier indicated that any thing even tried getting near me.

no reason asking why I wasn't killed during my sleep best I just accept I'm one lucky bastard , weird I'm sure I've been asleep for quite sometime it's even night right now so why don't I feel hungry at all?

"system am I immune to hunger?"

[Answer:shadow demons do not possess stomachs thus the feeling of hunger is not apparent]

yet I still feel pain this is a bit unfair ,"I see then so basically I have no reason to eat is that right?"

[incorrect fallen enemies harbour souls, consumption of souls increases stamina depending on the demons size, would master like to see exactly how this works?]

[smaller demons=+1 increase in stamina

medium-sized demons=+3 increase in stamina

large demons=+5 increase in stamina

all increases are the same for each demon under either size, example: all medium sized demons shall grant a +3 increase no matter their danger or power]

it's a fair system but this will just make my growth even harder.....sigh, no time to complain this place has already shown that being weak will only lead to your demise.....plus it's not like souls have taste right?

I walked up to the demons carcass and slowly knelt down hestitating before biting down into it's belly, minutes passed but I felt nothing that indicated I was eating it's soul, again I bit down but the results were the same all I was getting was a bloodied mouth.

clearly this isn't the way....how do monster in the movies do it,...from what I can remember it's usually never involved in biting rather sucking it out like air pretty sure there was a monster from a novel I read that did it the same way

I left my mouth wide open placing it close to the demons body and inhaled as hard as I could, it felt normal at first before a sudden feeling of liveliness coursed through me similar to the feeling of drinking caffeine while sweating through a midnight gaming session, the feeling didn't last for much longer and once it left I could feel my body had increased in size somewhat although nothing I'd call impressive.

this isn't too bad it'll be a slow process but if I can learn to kill demons like this getting stronger won't be too hard plus this guys footprints will lead me straight to the others or at least where his species is most common, ha watching a few of those hunting documentaries were actually a big hel-

I grabbed my head in pain as countless warning screens flashed in my head looking to calm the system I glanced around frantically as I searched for shelter, my eyes paused at two large boulders leaning onto each other forming a triangle in the middle and thankfully their location wasn't far.

as I sprinted towards the boulders my eyes we're barely able to make out what seemed to be a human sized two legged creature although it looked those were more arms than legs as I got closer and carried the whole weight of the monster, my movements halted as I was clearly able to make out just what exactly I was looking at.

a thin whip like tail that extended further than it's body with a scaly shadowy like appearance not to mention it's silhouette of eyes on it's head.

straight out of a horror movie huh?, Appraisal!!

shock ran through my body as I heard this, I stared at the monster standing at the boulder till it eventually stared back, my body stayed frozen in place as the demon raced it's way towards me with it's shadowy mouth wide open chilling me a bit as I thought of what I looked while consuming the demon earlier.

I instinctively jumped of its way and readied a counter attack however just as I was about to rush the demon it's tail grabbed my neck tightly and held me in place as the monster turned it's head towards me, the demon snapped it's mouth onto my shoulder and thrashed it's head violently as it tried to rip it off.

argh stop saying it like it's helping this still hurts like hell you know!!

I screamed in pain as I could feel my arms attachment to my body slowly getting looser by the second.

Am I going to die a second time and just after I'd started this one?...dam, I closed my eyes slowly as I gave up while trying my hardest to ignore the pain.

*are we giving up in this life too?"

"Hm just what do you mean giving u-"

"it's not like we liked our first life , boring,repetitive and no sense of excitement that's why we turned to games and novels."

"you're right in that department I really hated it back then, my only reason to keep going was cause novels and games existed"

"so then why are we letting go of this new life, haven't you noticed how lively we've felt while we were here?"

I opened my eyes and plunged my fingers into one of the demons eyes causing to instantly let go of my as it shook it's head violently from the pain.

of course I remember that stupid motto, ripped apart or erased to the last atom my will to survive this battle shall prevail!!

my body reacted on its own accord rushing to the monster at lightning speed, once again I slashed at the monsters head aiming at its eyes as I blinded it even more.

"Shadow evasion!!"

I dodged the demons tail attacks while constantly spamming shadow evasion with no care whatsoever of how much my mana was being drained, all that mattered to me was winning the battle in front of me and using everything I had.

my hands gripped onto the demons head and instantly I started biting down violently using up all the stamina I had left, thrashing, jerking, biting I barely felt the pain from any attempt the demon made at escaping.

my body numbed as if I'd been paralyzed, the grip from before slipped and i crashed onto the sandy ground in a silent Thud!!.

I watched the demon throw it's head in various directions in pain as it soon ran of ignoring my presence completely.

my luck is truly terrifying...., system what exactly are my stats right now?

I grabbed my head in pain as these words flushed through my brain continuously, I staggered into the rock shelter and collapsed to my knees before slowly letting go of my ringing head.

there's a whole army of them out there and their most likely hunting and killing each other it's practically a battle royale out there...sigh, I stared at my hands while reliving my earlier fight with the shadow demon and quickly wrapped my open hands into fists.

this isn't my previous life it's one a lot more dangerous and exciting, a world where I can finally feel alive, a world specifically built for...me alone and I will survive it
