11 Chapter 11 A shadow demons pov

darkness, darkness, darkness,the long lasting feeling of being pulled into an endless void of pitch black was something I'd grown used to happening however the feeling was terrifying and frustrating.

The feeling of freedom was just above, just ahead of this dark void, there was sand.....grey sand and a sky was it a sky?, my thoughts were only concentrated on the world above the world I longed to stay in, why is it every time I'm brought down here....why?

THUD!!

my body crashed onto the hard grey floor with a small pile of grey sand breakingy my fall, I'd managed to bring it down here to constantly remind myself of it or at least try and recreate it down here...

no....i can't recreate a place like that down here, this is hell how would you make heaven in hell anyway?

letting out a low growl with frustration sizzling within me I glanced around the long running dark tunnel I'd called my home, no I called it my cage.

roars and screeches echoed from multiple directions as more shadow demons were also brought back, I let out a light huff as I made my way through the tunnel.

I'd barely caught or killed anything up there, it'll be best to get something to devour right now

a bright blue glow finally gave light to my eyes while I exited the tunnel revealing a leaning degrading tower covered in the mushrooms that gave of the blue glow.

I jumped into a small window along the side of the tower my upright two legged stature helping me greatly in my landing,the floor of the tower was brown in colour with white weirdly shaped fragments scattered across it which I ignored and kept making my way down the tower.

I ran my claws over the walls of the tower hoping to attract whatever other demon lived in it as early as possible, prolonging battles were a hatred of mine.

Snap!!

I barely dodged the bite of the basilisk above me and jumped backwards making distance between us, it's eyes we're nonexistent and instead it was covered in a hair like hide over specific parts of its body they were long and caused the basilisk to jerk and snap whenever they ran across something remotely big.

Realizing it's weakness I ran towards it's face letting out a loud roar as I sunk my teeth into the demons snout while clawing at where it's eyes we're meant to be,it thrashed and hissed in pain while trying to snap at my leg or throw me off by smashing me against the wall.

I'm desperate, desperate to leave this place if I want any chance of surviving out there next time then you're my best bet!!

I dug my claws deeper and deeper with each strike, causing a gaping hole to form by its head,wasting no time I struck it for the last time as it twitched and spazzed before falling to the ground dead on the floor it's mouth opened wide from the impact.

I huffed and wheezed as I stared at the basilisk.

devour, I'll devour you and put your soul to great use.....by helping me escape this place

*6 hours later*

my vision went black with pain surging across me as the feeling of my body being split apart was unbearable yet pleasing at the same time.

I was going to see that place again, that place with a sky....

my vision returned, the sinking feeling of sand reassuring me, the cool breeze of the area calming me and the sight of the dark sky motivating me.

I'm actually back!!

I shouted in my head, ignoring the chaos around me just for a second just to feel the sand for a while longer.I scooped some of the sand and watched it sink in between my fingers and smiled from the satisfaction.

I want this, I want this!!

a thundering roar travelled into my ears ringing in my head as I turned to the source of the sound,long ears that curved inwards by its neck and arms that were reasonably sized with its stature being hunched forward and a mouth that drooled of blue saliva with red eyes directed at me.

charging at me with great speed that I could barely react to, its jaw snapped onto my shoulder and pulled me to the ground while thrashing it's head causing it to tear apart my shoulder as it did this,the pain was tremendous so much pain however I wanted this place I wanted it all for myself.

just like you I want out but unlike you my will to live here rather than down there is greater than yours!!

grabbing the demons mouth I mustered the strength to release it from my shoulder and brought it down to the ground with me,it flayed and roared but I kept it firm on the ground, biting down onto it's neck with a force that could easily snap my own arm in two.

Devour, devour, devour, I must if I want to stay, stay here!!

the demons movements came to an abrupt halt and I devoured it right after with a sensation running through me from the feeling, charging for the next I targeted a demon that somewhat resembled myself, a dark, furry muscular build with a blue glowing hue of hollow sockets for its eyes.

We were soon deadlocked on each other, our mouths wide open, ready to snap onto whichever part of the opponent we saw open before-

it froze?!

the demon I was ready to face stood still in the position it had been charging towards me with its mouth still hung open, the movement of its eyes were the only thing that indicated to me that it was still alive.

not wanting to waste an easy catch I continued forth completely blocking my normal senses to stay back.

Whatever stopped it from moving I'll face-

Slash!!

before I knew it another demon less muscular than myself but lean and a bit tall brought down a shining jet black sharp stick onto the demons neck that split the head off cleanly from the body, surprised I paused, almost like the demon that had just got it's head chopped off.

Monstrously the demon before me quickly devoured the one ahead of it with a wide grin etched across it's face of pooling darkness, the picturesque image of everything wrong with this place. Assailed by other similarly ravenous demons that tried to attack it, its strength showed providence, all failing at a simple task as it appeared and reappeared like a ghost in the shadows of the night while using it's sharp tool of some sorts to make quick work of their vital points,I was standing still within the chaos like an idiot but my eyes couldn't break away from the sight before me, it wasn't fear, rather...motivation.

that strength I want it, I need it to escape!!

my slight moment of paralysis faded and I charged forward, towards the demon in question and using my left hand to deliver a crushing swipe to its head but it didn't make contact, instead, the demon dodged. As if knowing exactly where to hit me it aimed it's sharp tool right under my shoulder.

it stung, stung so much but I couldn't give uo, devouring the demon in front of me would give me all the power to free myself from that realm of hell, ignoring the pain I swung my left hand backwards this time, striking the demon square in the back of its head, causing it to roll across the ground.

I hit it!!

realizing it wasn't impossible to take the demon on I turned around and followed with a second attack that it blocked with its right arm, eyeing it's sharp tool I dodged it just barely as it grazed across my face, I grabbed it's arm and pulled its body towards my knee but moments before I could land the hit an unbearable pain surged across the leg I was about to use causing me to instinctively let go.

there another sharp tool of the demon was lodged in my knee.

Where did it come from it only had one!!

Sensing my confusion and seeing my vulnerability, the demon slashed at my neck to which I leaned back a bit and dodged while grabbing its arm for the second time and bit down where the weapon was held but...there was no sign it felt pain or even a little sting, it's arm was nearly torn off when it kicked me by the stomach causing me to cough and let go followed by a black flash that blinded my left eye.

my body came to a halt, frozen as I felt I'd hit something but couldn't tilt my head to see just what it was.

I'm paralyzed!!?

my eyes glanced towards the demon, it planned it all from the very beginning. It's skills alone had been enough and yet its sadism to absolute victory had placed traps all around us from the very beginning .

Bastard, not here I won't be devoured, not me!!!

I shouted in my head, the demon opened and closed its mouth as if conversing to me but I didn't understand, I couldn't understand although as it did this it's eyes were never directed towards me, almost as if it was purely conversing with itself.

am I that insignificant!? Am I that weak!!?.....no I can't be, strength here isn't just determined by physical prowess but also the determination to leave, to escape the hell down there.....this demon must be more determined than me.

GRAGHH no that's impossible!!

I thought this but as I watched the demon converse with itself in frustration, it averted it's attention somewhere else before shooting a long gaze my direction but it wasn't the same fiery gaze every other demon including myself shot at each other....no..it was empty, dark and cold with no motivation behind it, no goal no reason for doing any of this but amusement.

anger boiled within me as I watched the demon race from me like I was pointless, meaningless and pathetic, leaving me paralyzed and dying.

Why, why should a demon with no reason for devouring or killing be so much greater than myself, why!!!?

I shouted in my head, bombarded by a throbbing pain of thoughts, my body stayed there, motionless for time no longer than eternity before a feeling I resented to the core that made my being overcame me, that sinking feeling, the feeling of returning back into hell.

my legs slowly dissipated as my eyes rose to the dark sky, reminiscing of the demon from before.

I'll become something much greater than that, if that's what it takes to leave then I'll do it!!,I'll do it just for here....just to leave.....

darkness, darkness filled my vision once more
