10 Chapter 10 Realizing the road ahead

Annoyed I rolled my eyes and thrusted my leg off the edge of the crater allowing the force to slide me across the glass while I pondered on alternative ways to grind up my level,I drowned in my own thoughts sinking deeper as I searched for an answer.

An odd question caught my attention in the deep depths of my unlimited thoughts and I grabbed it and read it out loud before snapping back into reality.

"right let's get moving"

[where to exactly?]

"a little further from here, the shadow demons back at the shelter aren't much of a challenge anyway"

I stopped my movement across the glass and made my way out of the crater noticing a small group of Felis demons running on their way,bored to the point I was itching for something to pass a little time I chased after them and used shadow slash on one of the legs of the Felis demons at the back of the group causing it trip and roll across the grey sand dunes like a wheel.

surprisingly they all stopped in their tracks and glared at me menacingly while 2 stood in front of the demon I'd injured as it got up.

"we're they always this protective, I was expecting I'd have to chase them all down individually"

[unlike shadow demons,Felis demons do have a sense of companionship or protectiveness to one another]

"that's surprising...., still though I'm kinda bored"

I noticed that my assumption of how many they were was off completely, I'd originally thought the group was just 7 but I was being circled by a total of 20 Felis demons.

the first Felis demon lunged from behind to which I turned around and grabbed it by the jaw and directed it's path to the ground, giving no time to counter i dug my fingers into it's neck killing it right there.

enraging the rest they attempted at continuously attacking me, giving no room for rest which was failing thanks to shadow step.

Slashing their necks with shadow slash that had increased in power their heads fell clean off while gushing with blood that painted the grey sand blue,it barely took 10 minutes before the only one left was ironically the first demon I'd attacked.

it got into an offensive position with its injured leg shaking violently, I stared and watched it charge at me before tumbling once more as it's leg gave in and allowed me to administered the final blow to it's neck.

"huh,I haven't gained a new title in ages and bloodlust isn't too high at least"

I stared at the corpses around me and started devouring the souls one at a time.

*6 hours later*

my feet digging into the sand as I'd been sitting there for hours I pulled them out and stared at the night sky till the sound of clicking reached my ear.

Straying away from the sky I looked ahead of me,4 large bright blue eyes with an ominous dull blue glow that emanated on certain parts of the demon resembling stripes or patterns of some sort.

in mere seconds the spider demon had webbed my ankles pulling me violently towards it, it's mouth opened as I came dangerously close and sliced the web in 2,moments before almost becoming lunch.

Web after web I dodged using shadow step and a few of my own physical skills which soon annoyed the spider cause half an hour later it started chasing after me like a mad dog while killing and leaving the lesser shadow demons that tried to intervene in its chase after me.

enraged even more at its struggle to keep up with me thanks to shadow step the spider raised a leg and stamped it into the ground, it's eyes shifted from blue to a bright shade of pink as I smashed against something slightly elastic and sticky.

In a hurry to understand what was going on I glanced behind me, finding a myriad of pink strings that spanned above my head and enclosed me and the spider in a type of dome with a web like design, I quickly got off the part of the dome I was stuck to by using shadow step but my leggs wobbled and felt almost like jelly.

"huh?"

I used shadow step again and dodged the incoming attack, my legs got weaker and weaker every minute as it slowly became hard to move with shadow step being my only way to dodge entirely.

the system message filled my vision entirely causing me to barely dodge the spiders next attack which grazed my face as I used shadow step once more.

"this resistance is barely helping!!"

"aha....thats great"

it's eyes flickered between pink and blue as it turned around to face me a second time before the pink glow completely disappeared and reverted back to blue with the feeling of slow paralysis finally subsiding and the dome like enclosure dissipating into nothing.

Desperate to kill me before I could counter the spider leapt towards me to which I dodged and manifested a dagger that I impaled into one of its eyes,it swung it's legs at me violently as it entered some sort of berserk like state.

using shadow slash I struck it's second eye causing it to shake it's head in pain to which I struck it again this time directed at it's third eye, it's sight on the brink of disappearing the spiders eyes flickered to the same pink like glow from before however before it could activate the annoying skill I struck it again completely blinding it as I hopped onto it's back to administer the final slash where it's head was attached.

Slash!!

The head rolled across the grey sand still making loud clicking and screeches before going completely silent,the body wriggled and twitched a bit before turning stiff like stone.

"I hate spiders...."

*4 hours later*

"that spider's probably the best thing I've ever taken down these new skills are amazing, the second demon was a bit disappointing but nonetheless it gave me an extra level"

Cecil giggled lightly completely destroying my burst of excitement.

"you're kidding right....."
