Chapter 1I.Between Fate And Love

Steve Carmain was a handsome and intelligent young man, admired by many for his looks and intellect. His talent in both swordplay and violin earned him respect from all those around him. He came from a noble family, with Dutch and Indonesian ancestry. His father, a Dutch tax collector, had amassed great wealth, but his greed knew no bounds. Steve's mother, on the other hand, was of royal Indonesian blood and was known for her kindness and compassion.

Despite their immense wealth, the family lived in discord. Steve's father was feared by many for his cruelty and lack of mercy, while his mother's heart was always full of charity, offering help to anyone in need. But this generosity was something that deeply angered Steve's father. To him, wealth was the only thing that mattered, and he could not understand why his wife wanted to spend their riches on helping others. He would often reprimand her, accusing her of wasting money on people who would never repay them.

Steve's mother, however, had a different outlook on life. She believed that the greatest wealth lay not in gold, but in kindness. She often spoke to Steve, advising him to never follow his father's greedy path. She warned him that true happiness could not be bought with money, and that compassion was more valuable than wealth. Steve, a thoughtful and sensitive young man, listened closely to his mother's words. He knew that he could never be like his father, and he promised himself that he would be a man who valued kindness above all else.

Though they lived in a magnificent mansion, Steve never felt truly at home. The grandeur of his surroundings meant little to him. His father, in his quest to further cement their family's wealth and status, arranged for Steve to marry a noblewoman from a neighboring region. This woman came from a family of equal standing, with wealth and lineage to match. But despite his father's insistence, Steve had no interest in this arranged marriage. He had already given his heart to someone else—Lyra Vanessa, a beautiful and kind-hearted servant who worked in the mansion.

Lyra was tasked with bringing Steve his breakfast every morning. At first, their interactions were brief, but over time, Steve began to notice how kind and graceful Lyra was. She was always cheerful, and her smile brightened his day. Though Lyra was just a servant, Steve could not ignore the deep admiration he felt for her. He appreciated her compassion, and as time went on, he grew to love her more deeply.

Lyra, for her part, was initially hesitant to spend time with Steve. She was aware of her lowly station in life and felt it would be improper to dine with the young master. But Steve, persistent in his affection, insisted that they share meals together. Soon, they were spending every morning together, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. They shared a bond that no one else could understand, a bond that was so deep and genuine that it seemed as though the world around them had disappeared.

Their secret meetings continued, and as Steve's feelings for Lyra grew, so too did hers for him. They would talk about their dreams and their hopes for the future, and it became clear that they were falling in love. Steve, determined to make Lyra happy, promised her that he would always be there for her, no matter what. He vowed to protect her and to ensure that she would never feel lonely again.

But their love, though pure, was not without obstacles. Steve's father was furious when he found out about his son's affection for a servant. To him, a marriage between a nobleman and a servant was inconceivable. He had already arranged for Steve to marry the noblewoman, and he demanded that Steve fulfill his duty to their family and their heritage. But Steve was resolute. He refused to marry someone he did not love, especially when his heart belonged to Lyra.

One fateful night, the day before the wedding, Steve and Lyra made a daring decision. They would run away together. They couldn't bear to live in a world where their love was forbidden. Quietly, they slipped out of the mansion through the back gate, determined to find a new life where they could be free. Lyra, though nervous, agreed to the plan. She knew that Steve's father would never allow them to be together, and she, too, was willing to leave everything behind for the sake of love.

The following morning, when Steve's mother entered his room to wake him, she was shocked to find that he was missing. Panic set in as Steve's father ordered his servants to search the estate and the surrounding area for him. The man was furious and desperate to find his son. His rage only grew when he realized that Steve had chosen a servant over the noblewoman he had arranged for him to marry. His anger reached a boiling point, and he vowed to punish his son if he ever returned.

Meanwhile, in the forest, Steve and Lyra kept moving deeper into the wilderness, far from the mansion and the life they had known. They knew they had to be careful, for Steve's father's men were looking for them everywhere. They moved through the night, walking for hours until they finally stopped to rest. By the light of a small fire, Steve and Lyra shared a simple meal, enjoying the warmth of each other's company. They laughed, talked, and shared their dreams for the future.

As they sat by the fire, Steve turned to Lyra and asked, "Do you believe in reincarnation?"

Lyra, looking into his eyes, smiled. "Yes, I do. It's the idea that after we die, we are reborn, either as a human or an animal. It's a way of starting over, of getting another chance at life."

Steve thought for a moment, then asked, "If we die and are reborn, would you want us to find each other again, no matter what form we take?"

"Of course," Lyra replied, her voice full of warmth. "No matter what form we take, I would want to be with you."

Steve smiled, his heart full of love. "What if I come back as a cat, and you're still a human? Would you still love me?"

Lyra chuckled and reached over to gently pinch his cheek. "Of course, I would still love you. It doesn't matter what form you take, Steve. I will always love you."

Steve grinned, grateful for her unwavering love. "Thank you, Lyra. My mother once told me that when we are reborn, we might not remember anything from our past lives. If that happens, what would you do?"

Lyra paused for a moment, then answered, "If I don't remember, I believe you will help me remember. If we are meant to be together, we will find each other again."

Steve nodded, his heart filled with hope. "If I die, I hope I can remember the beautiful memories we've made. And if you don't remember, I will remind you."

With those words, they fell asleep, their hearts content, knowing that whatever happened, they would always be together in the next life. As the days passed, they continued their journey, hand in hand, hoping that their love would transcend time and death.

This book will be focusing on plot, action, depths of character bonds and overall a darker tone/take on this cruel fantasy world I've cooked up for this book! If you give this book a try, I hope you enjoy! A very different experience and tone to Nanomancer Reborn.
