But before Marine could reach there, some pirates attacked the island and looted everything. It was not confirmed whether the devil fruit was there or not. But it was enough for Alden to go there and confirm about it.

He thought about how to tell his father that he wants to go and search for the devil fruit. He will not be able to explain how did he know about ope ope no mi's whereabouts.

So he told his father that he wants to go for some real life experience and fight on his own. His father refused saying that he was still too weak to go on a voyage. Suddenly, they heard footsteps and saw a person with Vice Admiral uniform came in their house. Bill stood up and did a marine salute to him.

Garp heard Alden saying about him going on a voyage in sea. He could feel the determination in his voice. He could guess that this boy wants to become strong enough to find someone or something to save his mother.

Alden thought about something and asked Garp, " Then tell me how can I save my mother. I only have 3 years."

Garp put his hand on his chin and said, " I am free for few months, so if you want I can come with you and also teach you something to make you stronger. You can also join marine as a recruit."

Alden thought that it will be great if he goes with Garp because he knew Garp can be trusted.

He said to Garp, " Thank you uncle and I would appreciate if you come with me for my search. But I have not thought about joining Marine after hearing that even after Vice Admiral's blunder, he was only demoted to Rear Admiral. So many lives lost because of him and what punishment he got: just a demotion by one rank. I won't join Marine at least not now."
