1 Prologue

Three days had passed already since Arthur transmigrated.

He stood by the window, watching the people coming and going on the street during the evening. There was a curvy woman throwing flirtatious glances at him from the adjacent alley. She was a whore, most likely, trying to make a living in those harsh times.

This was the Colossal Hand Inn's best room; from here you could see the iconic landmark of Starlight City, the Silver Hourglass, which was the Silver Church's symbol of power in the region.

The wilderness was infested with monsters and bandits, thus making Starlight City the only safe place to live in a 100-kilometers-radius.

Not far away, a youth was secretly stealing a rich man's purse, his movements were very nimble. He was at least a level 3 Thief. Everything was the same as the real world. This was a place where professions existed.

The only thing different was Arthur himself.

"Stats window," he said in his mind. A series of information appeared before his eyes.

Aside from these pieces of information, which were the same as in the video games from his previous life, the world Arthur had woken up in was no different from a real world.

He was quite bewildered, but after three days of asking around and adapting, he could safely assume the worst:

He had transmigrated in another world and arrived in the game he had been infatuated with back on Earth, "Age of Apocalypse".

Then again, besides not knowing why he could see the same interface from the game, this was a real world! Every person was a living being. Unlike NPCs, each possessed a soul and could talk like a proper person. They all had experiences to tell, worries to share, anger to spout.

Finally, he was in huge trouble.

Not to mention the game's scenario, where Ascended would invade the continent for the sake of obtaining ancient fragments enabling them to grow stronger, a process in which Humanity would most likely be wiped out in a matter of decades, Arthur was a living target for assassins!

His new body's history, his current situation...By asking around and reading his ´character log', a feature that was thought to be useless, turned out to save him from dying foolishly.

[Character Log - Arthur Silverguard

Second Heir of the Silverguard's Viscount Family, a family which produced four knights in the past two centuries, Arthur was forced to leave the Silverguard castle in company of his brother after the Silverguard Ancestral Keep fell in the hands of mercenaries.

Obviously, the lack of response from the Royalty can only be attributed to the increasingly more pressing matter of monster rampages.

Still, the mercenaries were too well-equipped and suggested the involvement of an uncle, Roy Silverguard, thought to be dead yet very influent in the black market of Starlight City, the capital of the Silverguard fief.

During the escape, Arthur was seperated from his older brother George.

The young heir ordered his younger brother Arthur to run while he and a few soldiers fought against a dozen mercenary horsemen.

Now in the Colossal Hand Inn, owned by a half-elf bard Collin, a childhood friend, Arthur has been hiding for the past week in company of Albert, his butler.

Actually, Albert also happens to be a skilled level 3 Sorcerer, though he only used magic once for the sake of protecting Arthur during his escape.

In the past three days, Arthur has been training his body in all secrecy. Albert thought him to be depressed, but Arthur changed dramatically, picking up a sword and swinging it thousands of times. Though it would have been detrimental for a normal human, Arthur inherited from his father the perk [Preparatory Knight Physique], allowing him to push his training one step further.

Following an inhuman training rate, he finally awakened the Warrior Class, and somehow grew proficient in swordsmanship. At least, he was becoming better than the average soldier in terms of skills, though levelling up would require him to kill living beings or continue training.
