16 Ch 16 - Plans for the future

Fang Yuan had already opened up 4 pieces of rocks. None of them had anything inside.

Even Mo Bei was looking forward to the outcome of the 5th rock. He knew that in the novel, Fang Yuan found Rank 2 Mudskin Toad in this rock. However, he was not sure if the future had changed due to the butterfly effects.

He had some thoughts on this matter though. Since he knew that Heaven's will and Fate Gu existed in this world, there would normally not be any changes in outcomes desired by the Heaven's Will. Going with this line of thought, Fang Yuan should eventually get Flower Wine Monk's inheritance too.

'Should I defy fate or let it go according to the novel? ', this thought crossed Mo bei's mind as he started considering implications. His ultimate goal was to return back home. For that, he required the Fate Gu to be destroyed. He knew that he himself was not capable of doing that and hence that could only be left to Fang Yuan hence he stopped affecting Fang Yuan's and also started secretly helping him.

"I have a feeling that this might be a lucky one for you", Mo Bei spoke to Fang Yuan.

Fang Yuan smiled but did not reply, and he continued to take out the fifth rock.

He carefully grinded, and in ten breath's time, the surface of purple gold coloured rock were all rubbed away, revealing a rough-surfaced yellow mud ball.

He continued to grind. Under the blue watery light, the powdery sand fell off. Among the powder, there were some soil crumbs mixed in it, falling onto the pile of rock powder on the ground.

The yellow mudball gradually decreased in size due to the friction, and when it was palm-sized, someone barged into the tent. "Young lad, hold up. I, Jia Jin Sheng, will be buying it!"

'So he is the dead man in the original novel! He can't just stay away, can he? In the original novel, the death of Jin Jia Sheng brought about countless trouble to Fang Yuan. He knew that in the current world, Fang Yuan did not have the Flower Wine Monk's Inheritance yet and hence the events where Fang Yuan had to kill Jin Jia Sheng should not happen but he didn't know how the mechanisms of fate would work.

'Maybe he will become a fate escapee due to my arrival into this world and not die.'

Jin Jia Sheng tried to pursuade Fang Yuan to sell the half opened rock. However, Fang Yuan denied it and continued opening the rock. Following his movement, a hibernating Gu worm gradually appeared in front of everyone's eyes.

This was the first time Mo Bei saw a Gu worm, a living creature, come out of rock. Even on earth, he had only heard of it. He was amazed at once.

"My god, there really is a Gu worm!"

"He really opened a Gu!"

Immediately, the Gu Masters' exasperation filled the tent.

"This is the Mudskin Toad, damn it, it really is the Mudskin Toad!" Someone recognised the toad Gu's identity and screamed agitatedly. It was Rank 2 gu.

Soon after Fang Yuan sold it to the gambling house for 500 primeval stones and didn't open the last primeval stone with the excuse of low primeval essence left in his aperture.

Mo Bei then took the chance to purchase 4 primeval stones randomly on the spot. He tried to open one of them but found it to be a very difficult process. Ultimately opening up the rock, he didn't find anything inside.

Fang Yuan scrutinized the whole process and was placing together some of his observation.

'Gu Yue Mo Bei is a person full of insight and knowledge but he lacks experience. It can be easily said that he has never experienced the rough world and have been sheltered. However, he is good as a pawn piece and can be easily used. His intuition is also good. Maybe his luck qi might be good. Next time, maybe if I bring him to find the Flower Wine Monk's inheritance, I might actually end up finding it too. However, I am too weak right now and should not take on unnecessary risks. Humans die for wealth and birds die for food. I should first figure out if there are any hidden motives behind Mo Family helping me. With this additional stones, I can try to push for middle stage soon.'

Fang Yuan had only heard of the mysterious luck path and didn't knew much about it.

Mo Bei and Fang Yuan left together from the gambling den.

"Fang Yuan, stay away from Jia Jin Sheng. He doesn't seem to have any good motives." Mo Bei adviced so that Fang Yuan would keep his distance from Jia Jin Sheng. He genuinely wanted Fang Yuan to not get into this mess.

"Thanks for your concern, brother. I will heed your advice."

Saying so, Fang Yuan and Mo Bei parted their ways.

Mo Bei went to his manor and opened the 3 rocks. Although all 3 rock fossils did not have a Gu worm, Mo Bei was not disappointed. In fact he looked at the pile of rock powder and gradually broke into a smile. His ultimate motive in entering the gambling den was all for this pile of rock powder. From that day forth, he could claim that the Liquor worm was awakened and subdued from the rock fossil.

Next day, he went to his grandfather Gu Yue Mo Chen's room and knocked twice at the door.

"Come in", a voice came from the inside.

"Grandpa, look what I found yesterday.", saying so, he showed the liquor worm in his hand.

"Liquor Worm! Where did you get this from? I doubt the caravan would have sold it this early even when they still have 2 days left."

"I got it from the gambling den. Both I and Fang Yuan were lucky enough to get a gu worm."

Gu Yue Mo Chen raised his eyebrows upon hearing that. He did not like gambling since it was dependent on luck and would generally be a waste of money. However, Mo Bei had good luck and even received a liquor worm which would be really helpful in his cultivation.

"Good. This will help you a lot in your cultivation. You may even reach Rank 1 middle stage first. If you can do that, I will give a gift to you" Gu Yue Mo Chen spoke after thinking for a while.

"Thanks Grandpa.", saying so Mo Bei left the manor. He had some plans which required him to wait patiently.

He went to a wine shop and bought some jars of sweet and sour wines using 15 primeval stones.

He saved them since he knew the Rank 2 recipe of his vital Gu Liquor worm. Next he had to search for Spicy and Bitter wine. He already had an idea where he could find them but he kept it on hold for now.

He was going to start the next and very important step of his plan today. It all depended on one gu : Poison Vow Gu.
