24 Jons new purchase

Ughhhh. I feel exhausted. Not physically or mentally however. It felt more... spiritual? It was a perplexing feeling to say the least. You know how you can wake up one morning feeling amazing all over? It was like that only multiplied by negative five. I could also feel a bit of an ache although I couldn't pin-point where.

'Can you PLEASE give me a heads up about these things?'

...

'Hello?'

No response.

I'm... free? No more system? Ha.. haha..hhahhahahahha! No more of your tyranny! Oh wait, it's just in hybernation. So two days haven't passed yet? That's good.

"Are you ok?"

Huh? A female voice that sounds genuenly concerned about my health and wellbeing? I didn't pass away did I? In my past life all the people I got close to were battle hardened people that didn't bother with sympathy to a certain extent and coupled with my tendency to avoid danger I didn't have anyone that was worried about me. I turn my head to see Alice and Jon looking at me with concerned expressions. When I think about it, it's pretty obvious that I would get noticed by Jon either due to making a loud noise when I fell or if he just walked past myself passed out on the floor. Seeing as Alice is here she probably came over randomly or got called over by Jon once he noticed me.

"Yhea, I'm just really tired."

Jon comes over and hugs me.

"Don't pass away on me, man. Please." Judging by the quivering in his voice I have no doubt that he's still traumatized by what happened a few days ago. At this point I'm probably the only thing keeping him afloat. Thinking about how he must feel right now I'm suddenly riddled with guilt.

"I'm sorry, I bought a new gift with my merits and I passed out when it started installing."

"Couldn't you have given us a heads up?"

I smile wrily.

"If my system told me about it then I would've. How many merits do you have by the way?"

Now it was his turn to smile wrily.

"100."

100?!?!

"Bullshit!"

"No, I'm really not bullshitting! It evaluated me as E-rank!"

Ah, that makes more sense. Seeing as he died relatively quickly without putting up a fight I'm actually surprised he didn't get an F.

"Have you bought anything yet? Oh no, you don't even know about the shop function right?"

"Actually I do know about it, but I held off purchasing anything since I didn't know what to buy and since I don't wanna waste my beginner discount on anything shitty."

God dammit! Why does he know of it before me when I'm supposed to have the better system?!

"I suggest buying something. Look at it this way- if you buy something that let's you perform better now you'll gain more merits and get ahead of everyone else. You dont have to use both of them, just use one of them now as an investment."

"Fair enough"

He ended up buying a racial-type gift called stone-man worth 500 merits.
